TheBlaze's Multi-Strain Grow In Coco & 600W HPS

re: TheBlaze's Multi-Strain Grow In Coco & 600W HPS

I just had that talk with Blaze. My last grow was cooltube but bare bulb is pre flowering in 7 days from switch, cooltube took almost 19 days to start pre flowers. Now it was a 600 watt in a cooltube and I'm using 1000 watt at 1050 bare bulb. Big difference in a 4x4 tent.

Cheers

Hi bud
7-9 days for preflowers is perfect but I don't see how ,weather it's bare bulb or cool tube , would effect the it. 19 days for preflowers is crazy long , hormones and light times as far as I am aware effect the rate of change over between veg and flower , weather a bare build or a thin piece of glass in between won't effect it as far as I can see. I think there may have been something else at play there.

Cool tubes suck as there footprint is very poor but I am a huge supporter of cooled hoods.

I may be wrong but I run cooled hoods and always have preflowers in 7-9 days depending on strain. The trick is to keep the glass spotless .

It was my first gtow, I'm sure there was a learning curve involved somewhere.

Thanks my man!

I actually like a bit of stretch in flower, but it looks like this Kush is going to be very lanky. It's cool though, get to do some very minor LST and learn something in the process. Did you see that top coming up between the 2 terminal nodes? Almost like showing someone a toffie! LOL!!

re: TheBlaze's Multi-Strain Grow In Coco & 600W HPS

Thanks for the vote of confidence bud. I hope the plants live up to our expectations.

UPDATE

Day 33 from seed. 1 week left to flip!

Before I carry on with the update, I just want to chat about the Black Rhino from my previous grow. Those that followed that grow, know that I struggled with that plant from start to finish. She was a real bitch. Only thing she had going for her, was a stench like nothing I've ever smelled before and a forest of trichs that actually made the plant feel a bit damp. In the end she yielded less than half the other plants. It would almost have been worth it, if she was as powerful a smoke as her smell and trich production promised. She wasn't. She was the least potent of the 3. As a result, she has been sitting in her jar pretty much left alone. I think it has been curing in the jar for about 5 or 6 weeks now. I smoked some again for the first time a few days ago. F#cken hell! Potency has tripled. The smell and taste is phenomenal and the high is nothing short of perfect. A strong body stone, but my mind is still relatively clear. Take an extra rip of the bong, and it will start messing with visuals. Making everything brighter and increasing contrast. It is easily my favourite smoke now. This has been such a strange plant to work with. She does her own thing and doesn't stick to the plan at all. If she was an easier plant to grow and yielded a little better, then this would be my all time favourite. Such a powerful high, but somehow still very forgiving. No anxiety, even if the body buzz makes you feel like you are vibrating. Excellent, excellent smoke.

Anyway, on to the current grow...

Plants are getting quite big now. I would normally flip them at this size, but Grizz and I agreed on 40 days so there is a whole week for them to pack on some size. I will defoliate tonight to open them up a bit.

The shorter pheno of E. Kush is the only plant putting out a proper smell, and what a great smell as well. A deep coffee liqueur smell. I had to tie down the tops of the taller E. Kush. She was getting too close to the light. This was one of the 3 plants that I topped as well. Didn't really slow down her stretch much. As a result of tying her down, a third top has come up between the 2 bent down tops. It looks pretty cool. I will keep that going.

Exodus Kush, with a third top coming up between the 2 tops. See if you can spot it.

Those ladies look absolutely phenominal Blaze! I see that little top. Very cool little bonus :)! What ever you're doing, keep doing it. Heat issues do suck but I don't see your ladies hurting at all. Maybe just keep an eye on it.

Congrats on the black rhino. Sounds like a very cool unexpected surprise. +1 on the LCOG. That stuff absolutely rocks in every way.

re: TheBlaze's Multi-Strain Grow In Coco & 600W HPS

LOL! Thanks guys. Not much longer to flip now.

I defoliated the girls last night. They are half the size now, and looking sad. Shame. They will bounce back in a day or 2. The super skunk is already bouncing back. That plant has plenty of vigour. Can't wait to try some more of G13 Labs offerings.

I'm thinking of topping the other Exodus Kush as well now. She is getting tall. If I top tonight, that gives her 6 days until the flip to 12/12. That should be fine right?

re: TheBlaze's Multi-Strain Grow In Coco & 600W HPS

Hi brother Blaze!

I prefer 2 weeks after HST. You could benefit from an LST technique if your going to flip in 6 days. This is just my experience. YMMV! :circle-of-love:

re: TheBlaze's Multi-Strain Grow In Coco & 600W HPS

Hmmm... ok, so maybe topping is out then.

Thanks!

What is YMMV?

re: TheBlaze's Multi-Strain Grow In Coco & 600W HPS

YMMV = Your mileage may vary.

I always suffer in the yield department when I use HST techniques to close to the flip. I'd wait for others to chime in before making your decision, I'm just going on my own experience. No science behind it lol.

Your ladies look beautiful!

re: TheBlaze's Multi-Strain Grow In Coco & 600W HPS

Someone else has confirmed what you said bud. So it looks like solid advice from you, and I will heed it.

re: TheBlaze's Multi-Strain Grow In Coco & 600W HPS

I would have to agree from personal experience as well , no HST 14 days before flower. Also good to remember you just defoliated so any extra training and topping would add a lot of extra stress close to flower. At most I would lst.

Cheers

re: TheBlaze's Multi-Strain Grow In Coco & 600W HPS

And there is the confirmation I was speaking of Doc.

Thanks Reaf, I will just bend her over then. I'm speaking of the plant of course. :cheesygrinsmiley:

re: TheBlaze's Multi-Strain Grow In Coco & 600W HPS

All good on the blaze front it seems...;) I also agree regarding hst so late in veg, but plenty will dispute that of course. I would imagine its better for the plants to enter the budding stage free of any undue stress.

Whatever happens in veg(as) must stay in veg(as) lol!:rofl:

re: TheBlaze's Multi-Strain Grow In Coco & 600W HPS

Yeah, that definitely makes sense. For a guy that didn't want to top anything 2 weeks ago and now I'm topping befok. Nothing is safe from my scissors. LOL!

re: TheBlaze's Multi-Strain Grow In Coco & 600W HPS

Just don't start bending, snapping tying down, it's a curse, lol....

re: TheBlaze's Multi-Strain Grow In Coco & 600W HPS

Damn brother... don't jinx me! LOL
