The Quest For Midnight Sunshine: Dabber Begins Breeding Bodacious Botanicals

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Gave the new extractor a whirl today. Pretty BEAST! can easily do another zip so I think 6 will be the magic number... I'm finally giving the diamonds a try today. Worst part is that the process is long. Multiple hours of dewax then filtration. But the worst part is once it's all said and done it will take over a week for the diamonds to fall out....

This really isnt a process I want to tackle more than once a harvest maybe, if that.

Plants seem okay temps are high (83-86), humiditys high (50s), and I'm high so Wtf right? Idk if it's the lights too close or temperatures but the stankberry (untopped) and atf seem to be foxtailing some.... over in turbos new journal pua ohana-obama said that sometimes the landrace-y sativas need less than 12 hours light. So I bumped down to 11 13. When I decide I have a week left theyll go 10.5 13.5

Hope your all having a terrific Thursday. I need to water and stuff. I'll check the plants and hopefull grab some pics.

Oh the clones dont seem too fond of the veg space lol. Water evaporates much more rapidly in the warm environment and yesterday a stankberry waa wilted and rooter dry! Today she looks better but not 100% her old self. The cookies seems a tad droopier as well. Still no roots (out the bottom of the rooter)

@InTheShed what clone day 14 15 16? I mean ther arent dead so all must be okay. I know newty said that monsters can take an extra but to root. I think well see roots any day but hey, wtf do I know lol!

Until later

Well operation diamond mining was a TOATAL FAILURE! Epic.....

No need to go into detail. It was 1 thing gone wrong after another. And like a total loser I tried to run with it anyways. Pretty damn bummed. That was 5 zips. Probably about a 3rd or more of my harvest.

No idea what will be salvageable. Dont really care. It's just disappointing. Missed the second watering because of it. And no pics. Started my day so excited. Nervous but excited. Guess I had good reason to be nervous....

Oh well.

Hope your afternoon has been better than mine.

You'll get it right in time.
Thanks penny. I think I just need to rethink my approach maybe? I think my de waxing solution was not cold enough, then I tried to filter an over purged batch...

I was kinda relying on my buddy for help and he just told me that "that's not supposed to happen" and "sorry". idk why I expected him to be more help this is the guy who said he'd send me beans last year when I started growing, and they still arent here .

Honestly my mood is already improving. Real people make mistakes. In science mistakes tell us what not to do next time. I think in the future if I try again I'll be doing it differently.

I used some isopropyl to clean up the wax I couldnt get onto parchment. So I may toy with that a little. I have that buchner filter and funnel so maybe I'll dewax the scraps and see if anything filters out and I can always vac it too.

Like sue would say, things don't happen to us they happen for us.:Namaste:

Well my first shatter runs weren't perfect either. I've had blow outs and ended up with a bunch of leaf in my product. I straight up knocked over purging batches of wax and watched beautiful oil seep into the garage concrete floor LMFAO!

The BEST part about my mess up is it's all on me. I'm not doing this for a company or to sell. Just wanted to develop a new skill. And theres no doubt I took the first step today! Even if it was in the wrong direction... like I said I know not to go the same way next time. Pretty sure it was my dry ice to iso ratio. Too much iso and not enough solid c02. should be -40°f and clearly was not lol.

I think the thing I'm most upset about is with 5 zips run like I normally do, I could have produced a fire slab of shatter. But there was scrapping and agitation so we will see. At the very least the yield will be lower from the bits I lost in the process. Sigh. Such is life. World ain't gonna quit spinning so well get em next time!

And you now know you can replace that 5 ounces easy peasy!
Meh. Only a couple months to make another pound right?! and I just peeked... I'm gonna have a good haul of wax! Honestly now I'm excited to tinker with the alc extraction. Its soaking now. I'll let it finish and then cold filter it. Should be neat to see if any fats and lipids are trapped in the scientific paper.

Pack around the container full of small chunks and top off with iso. Supacool lol. More insulation is always a good thing. Blah blah. Your close enough now that it's just ironing out wrinkles in the setup.

Silver lining! Atleast it's not a total waste. That'll be cool to see what filters out

@TurboBucket yeah I started off good I think. But I had ice above the iso so I added more iso and I think that was my down fall. Needs to be more of a gel and it was more like iso on the rocks lmao. Lots to adjust for next try.

So I'm trying some grandpa tokin style oil also.

Unfortunately today was all over the place and not the way I would ever do any of this again...

I think the QWET technique would be neat to try with this filter funnel

There is so much I want to experiment with now that I'm a bit more familiar with the way this filter works.

Should be some fun times going forward!

Sorry about your loss:( you have the right attitude. I make mistakes all the time, it’s how I learn! It only goes up from here bud!
:cheer::cheer::cheer:

Yeah the main loss is each time you switch a container you leave a small amount of oil. And I normally pour off while it's more liquid so I dont agitate and get as much as possible. So yield will hurt but #itsallaboutlearning!

Yea that filter is slick, I want one now lol my last batch of everclear shatter still had some impurities in it and I double filtered it. Fortunately I (hopefully) won't be messing with it again.
