The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

:hug::hug::hug::hug: There's always the west coast, my dear.

:hug::hug::hug::hug::hug: Thanks. :love:

That's such a sweet thought. Her partner just moved from LA. They have no interest. There's no telling where I'll end up. If Canyon has his way it'll be in New Mexico. :laughtwo:

Sue,

Is it possible that your daughter does not want to try cannabis as a treatment? Guidance and support helps, however her body and mind are her own. She has to chose what to do.

From your post, it sounds like she has turned the corner with her problems. She is opening up about how she feels. Listen to her. Treat it as part of her healing. This choice is about her.

Sincere best, it is a tough one.

Thankfully I'd discovered mindful breathing before she dropped that bombshell on me. The mere thought that I could have potentially contributed to her being suicidal.... that took some serious breathing through to get under emotional control.

It's not that she doesn't want to try Canyon, she really does. It's that she knows herself and her limitations. I knew we were pushing it with the issue of legality. I hadn't anticipated this glitch. The harvest won't go to waste. I have a family with a son suffering seizures that'll make good use of every bit of it. That was my daughter's first thought. Now his parents don't have to worry about running out before their first harvest.

All things work together for good. I can't force the timelines for my own daughter's healing. Her body is her own. It's so painful to stand helplessly by and watch her in pain. Prohibition sucks. Pure and simple.

Here's your closest legal spot....less than 4 hours away.

Sorry I've been MIA Sue, work has been kicking my butt.

I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter. Though I can see where she is coming from. And at least you'll be helping another family. Very thoughtful and selfless of both of you. Hug her tight when you see her next.

Sending you positive healing vibes!

That was really thoughtful of you Jim. :laughtwo: Not that we could afford to live in DC, but to be honest, I'd forgotten about the District being legal.

Well I'm glad you're gainfully employed. Thanks. We just had a long talk to assure her that her mother was ok with the decision. I'll pass that hug on next time I see her.

Just took a peek into the photo tent. I love the way they bounce right back. Look at this happy girl after her drench. She's the one on the left.

Well there's always that possibility that SB 3 becomes law.

Pennsylvania House of Representatives Approves Comprehensive Medical Marijuana Bill

SB 3 would allow seriously ill patients to access medical marijuana if their doctors recommend it; the House-amended version of the bill will now be considered by the Senate, which approved the original measure 40-7 in May 2015

Once the bill receives final approval and a signature from Gov. Wolf, Pennsylvania will become the 24th state to adopt an effective medical marijuana law

HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania House of Representatives approved a bill Wednesday (149-43) that would allow residents suffering from debilitating conditions to access medical marijuana if their doctors recommend it. The House-amended version of SB 3 will now go back to the Senate for approval.

The Senate approved the original bill 40-7 in May 2015. The bill then stalled in the House for approximately 10 months.

“Today’s vote comes as huge relief to countless Pennsylvanians,” said Latrisha Bentch of Harrisburg, whose daughter suffers from mesial temporal sclerosis, a condition marked by frequent seizures that could be treated with medical marijuana. She is a founding member of the Campaign for Compassion, a local organization of patients and families advocating for comprehensive medical marijuana legislation.

“This has been a long and difficult journey for many patients and families, and our destination is finally in sight,” Bentch said. “We gave House members a lot of grief for not getting this done quickly, but we are grateful for the incredible bipartisan support the bill received during the floor debate and final vote. We commend them for showing that compassion is not a partisan issue.”

SB 3 would allow patients with qualifying conditions to use and safely access medical cannabis with their physicians’ recommendations. Up to 25 Department of Health-licensed growers and processors would produce medical cannabis, which could be dispensed by up to 50 dispensaries, each of which could have up to three locations. The qualifying conditions include cancer, HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis, seizures, autism, sickle cell anemia, and intractable pain if conventional therapies or opiates are contraindicated or ineffective.

“Patients and families throughout Pennsylvania have been waiting for years to see this day,” said Becky Dansky, a legislative analyst for the Marijuana Policy Project. “We applaud the members of the House for passing this important legislation, which will significantly improve the quality of life for tens of thousands of seriously ill Pennsylvanians.”

Once the bill receives final approval from the legislature, it will be sent to Gov. Tom Wolf, who has been a staunch supporter of medical marijuana legislation. Pennsylvania would be the 24th state to adopt an effective medical marijuana law, in addition to the District of Columbia.

“The Senate and Gov. Wolf have already demonstrated extraordinary leadership on this issue,” Dansky said. “We hope they will act quickly to get this bill approved and signed into law.”

From Philly.com

"A week after the Pennsylvania House of Representatives took a long-awaited vote to legalize medical marijuana, key backers are worried that the law's implementation could be slowed or even derailed by last-minute changes to the measure.

Senate Republicans say that the 154-page legislation passed by the House was a gutted and heavily revised version of their original 69-page bill, and that some of the changes could be so problematic that they could unnecessarily delay getting medical marijuana into patients' hands.

Sen. Mike Folmer, the Lebanon County Republican who sponsored the initial legislation and has been among its biggest champions, is now considering pressing for changes and another vote by both chambers instead of signing off on the House bill and sending it to Gov. Wolf.

"There have been lots of discussions - but there's been no decision," Folmer's chief of staff, Fred Sembach, said Thursday.

Sen. Daylin Leach (D., Montgomery), the bill's cosponsor, said trying to again revise it could spell disaster.

"If we send it back to the House, we may never see it again," said Leach, who said he prefers that the Senate accept the House bill and iron out any flaws through the courts and the regulatory process.

Supporters had hoped last week's House vote marked their final hurdle. Gov. Wolf even congratulated advocates - many of them parents of children with chronic illnesses - who for years had lobbied legislators to make Pennsylvania the 24th state allowing patients to access medical marijuana.

The law would establish a licensing, dispensary, and regulatory system, and make the drug available in pill, oil, or ointment form to patients who suffer from cancer, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, seizures, and other conditions.

Wolf's spokesman, Jeff Sheridan, said the governor "was ready to sign the House bill and had hoped it would pass quickly through the Senate."

But when the Senate reconvened this week and the bill did not come up for a vote, concern sprouted."

My friends that have the son with seizures? She told me when they made the initial announcement that the bill had passed the House her husband cried, believing their nightmare was finally coming to a close, that their little boy could be safe at last. Less than a week later we learned they'd f'd it up so bad we're looking at possibly three years before oil would be available in the state.

I'm not holding my breath Jim. I've watched this Legislature do nothing more than give themselves raises for most of my adult life. We have one of the most bloated legislatures in the country. They can't work together on anything, even something as critical as this. None of their children are suffering.
