The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

from what ive ben reading its mostly temp related, my last WW had purple lines on some of the stems because it was fairly cold in the dark period. I know we aim to keep temps between 17-28C but if in the dark period it drops further it could bring it out earlier but may shock the plant a bit and stunt growth maybe

The genetics in this strain are strong. My last three were so purple as to be nearly black. With this strain I think it has most to do with genetics. Thinking back I seem to recall my first try didn't go deep, deep purple and didn't purple up much at all until the last week or so. I'll choose to remain optimistic. :cheesygrinsmiley:

If you mean color change, I don't think so. It works on hydrangeas, but not on roses, or any other flower I know of.
Also, if you want to acidify soil, check out Espoma. Excess aluminum in soil is not good. It is usually already there in abundance. It is the acid that is needed, which comes from the sulfur > sulfuric acid.

I used to do this for my moms Hydrangeas, I would compost her used tea bags around the plant, typically behind it out of sight ; - )

worked like a charm, mom and dad drank tea every night.

Creating Natural Balance

You recall I'd mentioned lately that my appetite's gone through some funky change and suddenly I wasn't very hungry at all and had developed something of an aversion to food? Turns out it's that lovely tea mix I've taken to drinking. I use Bigelow teas for the quality, but I steep one organic green tea bag with one lemon and ginger tea bag for at least five minutes, sip until it's gone and repeat at least once more during the day.

This caught me by surprise. I was adding the ginger and lemon tea for the probiotics and lemon taste, and as a bonus my appetite had evolved into something much more rational than it used to be, my metabolism has shifted and fat is burning off.

I just wanted to share that discovery with you.

Now, time to get some reading done in that massive text. Cellular biology, what blissful fun. Gosh, I love learning. :laughtwo:

Later. :ciao:

Cool! I'm going to have to try your tea recipe. Lately I've been drinking green tea with ground cinnamon and cardamon added. I first had this at an Indian restaurant recently and it has grown on me wildly. But yours is sounding great, too.

I like your morning tea ceremony as well. Good tea, reading, nutrition and bud! You've got the bases covered! :thumb:

While I can't be positive about what "purples" a particular strain, I do think temperature makes a difference. However, 70 isn't enough to make that change, IMO. The only really purple buds I've grown were on Pitbull plants outdoors. Once the nights got down cool in the fall (like low 50's - upper 40's), they turned purple in a matter of days.

Mr. PITA!!!!!

:jawdropper: I haven't seen you in ages and this is what you've been up to? :bravo: When I grow up I want to be just like Major PITA! :dreamy:

Daily Update: Day 39 & 41

It's nice that the day will be quiet. I have so much to work through outside of gardening. Let's take a stroll.

The photo tent.

They're making their move. Topping within a week. :slide:

Sue, remind me. What are you looking for to help you decide when to top?

BTW, love the new non-blurple look! ;)

Thanks so much Pigeons! I'm around - just don't post a lot here. It is all I can do to try and keep up with the frenetic pace of Sue's journal.

I'm afraid that was last summer's grow. I'll be starting this year's outdoor journal in a few weeks. I'm shooting for ... 4-20. :cheesygrinsmiley: I liked Pitbull so much, I kept a clone for the last year and I am going to give it another spin this time.

Thank you for the non-blurple directions SlowToke. :laughtwo: What do I look for to schedule topping?

First off, I'm watching the height. The "moment" is somewhere past 12-14". By the time the plant has reached this height there are some vigorous side branches developing, and it's these you want to train into the level canopy, so you have to wait for them to start accelerating growth. You can see evidence of that growth going on with both of these girls. Today, the Cure is 14" and the Mass is at 11". The Cure is days away from topping. The Mass may have another week.

You see that separation between the nodes that's beginning to show about three, four nodes down? That's where I'm going to top. I always chuckle when I recall Graytail's explaination that went something like "She's gonna look like she wants to make a spurt, but I'm gonna slow her down. *Snip!*" :laughtwo:

It's as easy as that. If you give the side branches time to get established they fall into line easily and create a flat, level canopy with around 8 - 12 nice tops. Simple.

Daily Update: Day 40 & 42

Good afternoon everyone. :battingeyelashes: :love: I got a little lost in my returned Afghani and the fairy dust in the bottom of the grinder. :laughtwo: This strain inspires dancing. Lol!

So let's see what's going on in the tents today. I'd already raised the Advanced panel in the photo tent. Somehow I missed that growth spurt yesterday. All fixed now.

Fantasmo Express is staying closer to the soil line than I'd like, but the blossoms are piling on thick under there. Next time, for sure, let this one run free from the beginning. Let's see how potent it is.

The auto tent. That Jack Herer just wants to be droopy. :straightface: You can't tell in this lighting interpretation, but she looks healthy on all other counts. What is it about me and droopy plants? Even my Carnival did that. *sigh*. I'm still new to the game. It'll get better. If the harvest produces oil as medicinally valuable as I suspect it will it can droop all it wants to. I'm easy. :battingeyelashes:

Med GOM 1.0 keeps getting thicker. It's gonna be hard to get enough out of this one to justify that pot, so in future I'll use a smaller pot for this strain. That reminds me, I need to add more soil to her pot with the next drench. When I removed her from the crate it created more open space around the edges. Maybe I'll do that right after I post this instead of waiting.

She reminds me of the Original Bubblegum. Only prettier. :laughtwo:

Dark Devil Auto (Day 40)

I am not a fan of popcorn.

If I look reeeeely close I can see purple down in there. It's a diffused tone, similar to my first DDA. Time will tell. The smoke from that first one was unbelievable and started the Community Grow journal, so I won't complain about the lack of color while I'm hallucinating from the buds. Hahaha!

That's it for now. This feels like the perfect moment to take a walk to the labyrinth. Sun's shining and I have so much bouncing around in my head that I need the focusing energy of that structured path. How blessed am I to have an outdoor labyrinth within easy walking distance of my front door? That causes joy to bubble over. Let some of your own joy bubble over today. Watch the magic that follows your path. :love:

I'll be seeing you around the yards.

:Namaste:

Quick question:

Can we upload multiple photos from our iPhones?

:hug::love::hug:

I just tried unsuccessfully to do so. I guess not yet Pigeons. That would make life way too simple, don't you agree? :laughtwo:

:hug::love::hug:

Sue i think ive made a break through on cal mag problems a quick fix , check out my bomb thread , this will be very interesting as a quick fix :thumb: and any one can get their hands on the stuff

Well, that's enticing enough to keep me on this bench another couple minutes. Be right there.

:hug::love::hug:

Way to simple. But defintely desirable. I'm hesitant to start another journal because of the hour or longer it can take to upload and update. I just don't have the time I used to. :(
