The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

Daily Update: Day 27 & 29

Sue, your plants are looking great, as always! Great job! :thumb:

Ahhh.... Such a joy to come home to. Anybody else get excited when you open the front door? :laughtwo: I head straight for the tents as soon as I drop my bags. LOL!

LOL! I know the feeling. After work, I have to restrain myself and say hi to my wife and dog before I head straight to the grow room!

Sorry guys, wrong thread.

No need to apologize about an anticipated book. My copy will be here Saturday, and I can't wait!

Sorry guys, wrong thread.

Let's try this instead. :battingeyelashes:

THE LAST BATCH

We knew it would come to this at some point. What a poignant moment though.

I've been experimenting with making the brownies more bioavailible. I knew I was going to run out before I was done experimenting, but I learned a couple tricks and I've incorporated it into the process. My brownie-making recipe has changed significantly.

I learned the value of lecithin, which increases the bioavailability of everything you add it to, so why wouldn't I add it to the oil I was using for baking? Edibles are one of the most limited pathways for bioavaibility, offering only around a 6% return. Tweak the process a little and you can increase that way beyond 50%, which is a worthy goal IMHO. Claims are made that you can make edibles almost as effectively bioavailible as intravenous. I'm hoping that pans out. :laughtwo:

Without testing readily available one is only guessing at what we're really getting though, aren't we? I had this mad vision today of being able to have each plant or the concentrates of each plant tested at a reasonable cost. Just think of the value of that simple freedom.

Anyway, I was thinking it might be nice to share my latest recipe. Here we go....

Start with 8 grams of dried, cured, decarboxilated and powdered plant material. I decarb at 225 degrees F for 30 minutes, in an oven bag to control odor and protect the vapors. The pan, in the bag, goes into the freezer for an hour as soon as it's cool enough to further settle the vapors. Don't need all those valuable components drifting away when you open the bag now, do we?

An interesting side point here. In my wanderings through the early pages of the oil-making thread I've come across an admission by Cajun that he'd produced oil using the whole plant - the whole plant - and it tested superior to oil produced with buds alone. Significantly better. He posted test results. I didn't want that point missed. I'm still running this down, there may be more to it than I've read so far, (sadly, I've only been able to make it 7 pages in - so much to notate!) but every time I consider the implications of this I get a little sick to my stomach it excites me so much. We'll touch on this again in the near future. If my suspicions are correct, this will be adjusted in my recipe.

Sorry, I got a bit off track there, didn't I? :laughtwo: Get used to it. Hahaha! I'm headed into a creative stage and you guys are standing right here. LOL!

Start again. 8 grams of bud, prepared. This particular batch includes the powder I got playing around yesterday. It was also decarbed.

image8360.jpeg

Sprinkle on sunflower lecithin. I don't measure, but the recommended ratio is evidentially 1 TBS of lecithin to a cup of oil. I shoot for an instinctive ratio. Sorry, I'm an instinctive cook. I'm kind of an instinctive woman, which I'm sure was often maddening to the man who loved me unconditionally for 35 years. LOL! He said is was one of my charms. Makes me laugh just to type it in. :laughtwo:

image8361.jpeg

Add 1/3 cup of oil. It was recently shared on the cancer protocol thread that olive oil is an excellent carrier for cannabinoids. It's also one of the foods recommended to encourage demethylation. Olive oil is one of those wonder foods that should be part of everyone's diet, at some level. I'm looking forward to dipping bread into cannabis-infused olive oil on a regular basis.

My previous brownies were made with coconut oil, an excellent carrier itself and loaded with nutritional benefits in its own right. I'll be switching between the two in future. This batch I went with olive oil.

image8362.jpeg

Mix it all up, toss it back into the oven bag and close it up. I simply twist it and turn it so the edge of the baking sheet holds it in place. It works.

image8363.jpeg

Into the oven, on the highest shelf setting. Again, 225 degrees F. This time set the timer for 1 hr.

image8364.jpeg

 I forgot to set my phone timer, because I won't hear this with earbuds in, will I? :laughtwo: Good.....I remembered when there was still plenty of time.

image8365.jpeg

When the alarm goes off turn the oven off, pop the door open and let it cool down for about a half hour before you check on it. When it's cool enough, pop it into the freezer for an hour to get those vapors settled.

image8366.jpeg

After that hour, open the bag, stir everything thoroughly, close it back up and toss it in the refrigerator overnight.

image8367.jpeg

In the morning, take it out of the refrigerator, set it on the stove and turn the oven to 350 degrees F. The heat from the oven will melt the oil. This is olive oil. With coconut oil I set the oven to 200 degrees F and set the pan in there on a tray. It only takes a few minutes to turn liquid.

image8368.jpeg

Stir it all up real good.

image36452.jpg

Ready for brownie making. :yahoo:

image8369.jpeg

image8370.jpeg

image8371.jpeg

image8372.jpeg

The last three days. *Sigh* I'm going to double up that last dose and start the next day off brownie free. I still have a few grams of this or that to tide me for a couple more days. Someday guys.....

image8386.jpeg

It's only a temporary pause. I can learn more about supercharging the recipe, because I know I can make this work better. I'm still fighting upstream looking for guidance, but I'm like a research ferret and about as hard-headed as they come, so by the time I get back to making brownies again they're going to end up SweetSue's Brownie Bombs. You have my word on it. :laughtwo:

Oh yeah...... I had my first one of these tonight, at 6. More than three and a half hours later now and I'm still very delightfully buzzed. Yep, this is getting better and better all the time. Makes me feel good to know I'm also increasing the number of available cannabinoids running through my system working so hard to get me healthy. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Thanks for indulging me guys. This was fun to do. These brownies are giggly. That was unexpected. :laughtwo: I'm pretty sure this batch was 2/3 Carnival. I have to get one to germinate.

I hear you B A R. Yes, I wish I'd listen too. I have access to a Prime account and I'll need the Rockwool for clones at some point, so there's really no reason..... Next order. I promise. They're already in the cart. LOL!

I'm gonna read for a while now. Oh yeah.... food. Geez woman. :laughtwo:

All of your young ladies are growing-up fast SweetSue! I just toked some very good Critical Mass, I think you are going to like it alot!

I'm glad to hear that Bangabong. How would you describe it?

I had been wondering the other day what your recipe was now... Good timing on that one Sue! Silly question, but I've never seen "oven bags" around here. I have seen turkey cooking bags around thanksgiving though. Are they the same? Containing everything is a great idea.

Your girls are looking fabulous so far!

Hey sue you've probably done your research already and seen these not sure if you have but crop king has a cbd strain now I have pics of info on it :thumb: just thought I'd mention it as you said you were looking for cbd strains. Cbd to thc is a 1:1 ratio with 6% cbd and 6% thc

Yes, Smokie, they're the same bag. If you look, most larger stores now carry them all year round. I don't think they suspect were using them to decarb cannabis. :laughtwo: Glad to help out with the timing.

And thank you SoloVoodoo. I hadn't noticed them when I placed my order. I'll be sure to look more closely at them.

Daily Update: Day 28 & 30

Pretty quiet in the garden today. I took the time to do a bit of training.

Auto Jack Herer, before the training session.

image8414.jpeg

image8415.jpeg

The environment when I opened the tent up. I wanted to see how much difference it makes when I leave the tent open for an extended period of time.

image8416.jpeg

I fashioned some small pics out of thin wire Dale had laying around in his workbench drawers. Now he's part of the grow too. :battingeyelashes:

image8418.jpeg

Then I went to town on the Fantasmo Express and the Auto Jack Herer to get things spread out and opened up.

image8419.jpeg

image8420.jpeg

Making sure that low doesn't mean smashed into the ground. I want free air movement all the way around the leaves too. I took the time to roll the edge of the bag down to get just a tad more light to the overall plant.

image8421.jpeg

All restrained. Just a couple more days of this torture and I let them go.

image8422.jpeg

Auto Jack Herer, after her own session. I found this process fascinating, the determination of where the plant wanted to go versus where I wanted it to go, and finding that happy compromise.

image8423.jpeg

They always look so tortued at this stage, don't they?

image8424.jpeg

I'm working on instinct here. If I'm making any glaring mistakes I assume one of you will call me out on it. No ego to bruise guys and I'm learning as I go. :battingeyelashes:

The untortured Med GOM 1.0.

image8425.jpeg

image8426.jpeg

I had the tent open about half an hour playing around in there. I lost 1% in humidity and the heat went up two degrees. Ok. That's all I wanted to see.

image8427.jpeg

All done in here today. No signs of any new thrip damage. I'll do one more spraying, just to be safe.

image8439.jpeg

These photo girls are getting exciting. Quintessential HB plants, aren't they?

The Critical Mass.

The Dark Devil Auto (Day 28) is absolutely stunning, although I can't believe that rediculous stretch she pulled there. I keep looking at her and wondering how pissed she'd be if I pulled that top over for a while. It might just happen. If I'm going to, it'll have to be soon.

image8438.jpeg

And that's all I got today folks. :cheesygrinsmiley: I hope your day is progressing nicely and that your joyful path is filled with moments of sharing and caring. I'm going to slip into a Callanetics session here real soon and return to the unending cycle of study and pack. Today I think I'll pack up the books on bonsai, origami and exotic plants. That man of mine had diversified interests.

Until later. :Namaste:

Your training is coming along flawlessly! My how far you've come!

:slide:

Thanks Pigeons. That means a lot coming from you. This is my first go round with training, so I'm trying to approach it with an open mind and pay attention to the plants. May I ask, how much of this do you do? I guess the better question is when do you know it's time to quit manipulating and let them grow out?

I thought I'd posted earlier that I'd heard from Budmaster and they've cleared up the snafu about the lights and my panel will be arriving sometime in the not-to-distant future.

I have no idea where that post ended up. If you come across it send it home please. :laughtwo:

I love how quickly they rebound.

image8440.jpeg

image8441.jpeg

I'm not great at the training. One of my signals of time to stop is when they stop rebounding quickly.

Based on that insight and my latest photographic evidence, they're nowhere near ready to stop playing, are they? :laughtwo:

Does this depend on whether it's an auto or photo? With autos we have that shortened window to consider. I figure at this point we have essentially two more months. I automatically tack at least another two weeks onto the breeder's timelines and we're at a month now. So I was planning a few more days of fun and games and then let the little darlings run free!

Dang! This last batch of brownies is incredible. It's been about 90 minutes and I haven't been this high in quite a while. Mmmmmmmm........ Delicious. Zippy, alert, unbelievably high in this restaurant full of strangers. Earbuds help control the atmosphere.

Comfort food tonight. Been a bear of a day emotionally, and my baked potato comfort food meal is just what's called for. It just showed up, so later, my friend. :circle-of-love:

Hahaha! I found it. I posted it in supergroomer's Virtual Coffee Shop & Bud Lounge. LOL! It was early, I'd had little sleep. Can't believe I did this again.

I stop training when I run out of container space to tie them down to. That seems to work out pretty well and calms down their need to stretch quite a bit. I think that because the roots dont expand out any further than the container, if you shape the upper plant to that shape too, everything balances, top and bottom and the plant is happy... no undue stretching.

I note the magick that just happened with your new brownies too... in documenting the process to share your recipe with the rest of us, your love bounced back 3x into your mixing bowl. The law of karmic return is an amazing tool in the kit of the knowledgeable when wielded correctly... imagine the healing power packed into those brownies, just from our good thoughts bouncing back at you along with the karmic return from you sharing it with us, compounded by the love you put into doing that for us. If you look at Light Addict's PotM entry, it's still tied down. You change the methods as she grows out, but to get a level canopy you keep manipulating well into flowering.

I tend to let mine go for the last week or two, just to be a kind to the elderly I guess. :)
