The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

Thank you Heirloom. You saved me the trouble. I'll keep the light leaks in mind. These weren't prize tents. I purchased them. For a mere $149 for the pair. I call it a bargain.

The instructions tell you it's as simple as assemble the frame, unzip the tent and slip it onto the frame. Yeah. That's not gonna work. The material has no stretch give at all. So you have to get creative.

My system for putting them together:
- Assemble the top and bottom frames. On the corner pieces the channel with two holes for the bullet locks are for vertical poles.
- Unzip the entire tent and locate the bottom.
- Place the bottom frame in place. Insert the bottom vertical poles.
- Now the tricky part. Feed the top frame up into place. Working carefully begin inserting the top vertical poles. Insert into the top corner bracket first and then do whatever it takes to get it together with the bottom vertical pole. This usually means pulling them off to the side to get them to slip them together and forcing them back into locked position. Don't worry. It'll work. You have to balance the top frame while you do this, but it's easier than it looked or sounds. The first two corners are the toughest.
- Drop the ceiling supports in place.
- Install the floor insert that may or may not hold water.

If this ditsy blonde grandma can do it you can too. :laughtwo:

I'd definitely purchase another one from Mars-Hydro. I still have my prize tent in reserve, so it's unlikely I'll need to, but based on price and overall quality I'd recommend them.

The first near killed me and had me sobbing like a frustrated child, yelling at the universe for my lack of helpful companionship when I remembered I have a guardian angel. :laughtwo: You may laugh but he showed me how to do it in a flash. Made that second tent a breeze. I actually laughed at the absurdity of my forgetful nature. When you have a guardian angel as effective as mine you should use him often. The benefits of letting yourself believe.

Guardian angels really are the best. I had a dog jump in front of my truck one night, leash and owner on the other end. Before even thinking, I swerved away, saw a civic in the other lane, swore, and missed the dog and civic entirely. The first thing out of my mouth was "thank you Nana, L and G". I didn't mean to say it, but it slipped out. They're always looking out for you

The curtain sounds like a great idea. I have painters tape that says "baby clothes & keepsakes" stuck to my tent. I had friends over, and they saw the tent and simply told me I didn't need to have saved that much of my kids things haha! If only they knew...

Oh, my bad, I thought they were prizes. Well, they should have been! :laughtwo: And a hearty :welldone: on figuring it out.

Agreed on the assembly method. It's a tight fit, which helps the structural integrity in the long run. But you'll end up with a bead of sweat or two.

Sue, folks are always over dramatizing light leaks when it comes to tents. As long as the leaks are consistent and constant (same light leak all the time) and are there when plants go into bloom they're not a problem. Sometimes we have to use a little common sense.
Rural outdoor plants see moonlight and urban outdoor plants such as yours & our fire escape girls deal with street lights. Even though my apt is above the street lamps they come on at the same time every evening by dark sensors and do cause light above them.
I've never had a hermie on the fire escape grow.

True BAR. I wasn't saying it was an issue for the plant. Any light coming in through that zipper leak is insignificant. You'd have to have the door flap open some and a room light on to really screw up a plant. Remember the full moon rule of thumb.

:thumb:

I was only illustrating the leak as a potential security threat for those whom it really matters. Blurple light leaked onto a white ceiling looks odd from behind a curtain, or through a room window from the street below :hmmmm:

And while I agree and understand that the number of people growing hobby peppers and other plants is huge, there is no need to draw attention of any sort for most of us. In my particular case the leak does not matter.

True that! When my daughter has her little friends in the back on the way to her room during lights on with the tents open, they see the glow coming from under my bedroom door which is at the end of the hallway. They think her father's doing some kind of weird science experiments in his room. Too freakin funny.

She even told me one of her friends asked her was I gay because I like pink lights.

Good afternoon everyone.

The tents are airing out. The new smells aren't as appealing as new car smell. :laughtwo: I took the time to zip tie some additional support for the ceilings. This gives me more options to hang stuff from too. That's come in really handy in the past.

This is the floor insert.

image7299.jpeg

The corner brackets are metal construction. My father-in-law was a welder by trade. They'll do. The frame is as solid and sturdy as you'd expect.

image7300.jpeg

With the curtain hanging this table is going to be a work station, adding to the camouflage.

image7301.jpeg

It'll be easy to move the curtain aside, unzip and glance down into the tent.

image7302.jpeg

Sliders under the table legs make it simple to move out of the way.

A simple, adaptable system.

How about a look at the babies?

Left to right, Dark Devil Auto, CBD Critical Mass, CBD Critical Cure.

Front, Famtasmo Express, back left, Med GOM 1.0, back right, Auto Jack Herer.

Still no movement from the last two. Now to figure out ventilation. Does it matter whether the fan is mounted horizontally or vertically? Vertical would allow me to slip it into a corner. Hmmm.....

Alright, on with the day. That Joy is more fun when you spread it around. Do your best. I'll certainly do mine. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Oh this I love! I could see putting something like that on the sides too, so that any negative pressure doesn't suck the tent in and decrease the available size inside.

Where'd ya get 'em, if you don't mind me asking? looks like just a shelving kit of some kind?

Working dinner. :laughtwo: Finally starting the paper trail.

Love it Sue. Looks great.

On the fan, I suppose it matters what kind of fan. What are you working with?

I have a 6" Ostberg. I've attached the Can 33 filter to it and it'd be nice to be able to slip them into a corner in a verticals profile.

:nomo: I will be back in about 3 days - 850 posts to go see ya soon!

 I feel ya. I make no apologies. Interesting companions make for long journals. :laughtwo:

These were salvaged from a vacated apartment. You should have seen the damage that tenant did to our antique plaster walls. We cut them down to size for some projects and they worked great for this. They're just standard covered wire shelving.

Ostberg states the CK 6" can be mounted in any position. Do whatcha like. I only asked because some bearing/bushing styles don't like being loaded in ways other than intended and you end up with premature wear and a squeaky fan. Ostberg designed it well.

Good morning Susan, hope your doing well. I told ya the Ostberg fan was the way to go....mount it how ever you like ...it rules!:thumb:

Thank you Duggan. You made my day. :high-five: In the corner it goes. :woohoo:

Good Morning everyone. . I started my day with a visit from FedX.

image7312.jpeg

My Promix prizes arrived. Another great t-shirt and hat and enough mycorrhizae to last me a few years, both granular and powdered. Sweet. Into the shower now to wake the rest of the way up, then off for some errands. Still waiting on the last two seeds. I'm not starting any more so if they don't come up I'll run with the six I have.

Time to get the day going. Later guys. :ciao:

I had my first real bout of agoraphobia today. Quite a sobering experience. It took me three hours to get out the door. After about 90 minutes of constantly finding something else to do I began to wonder what was going on. I determined that it's the coming back that's getting rough. As long as I'm here I'm ok. As soon as I leave I know I'll be coming back to a solitary existence. Apparently my psyche decided that not going out was the better option.

I now have greater respect for what my daughter deals with. I made myself get out there and I dawdled coming home, but I did it, and I bought groceries and I came home to find this waiting for me.

Sweet guys, however, I'm not Sara and I didn't win NOTY. But thank you so much for the light panel. I couldn't be happier to show off your lights.

How pretty!

It'll do right nice. :battingeyelashes:

At 20% power on the CREEs.

image7366.jpeg

Adding in 20% power with the flowering LEDs.

image7367.jpeg

Full tilt on both switches. You can't tell from the picture but it's a startling increase in light power.

The fans run nice and quiet.

image36206.jpg

They even included a set of hangers.

I also got the new cable that solved my internet connectivity issues, so now I have use of the iPad again. Whew! That gets rough, using that tiny phone screen when I'm so spoiled. Which reminds me:

The site will be down tomorrow starting at 10 AM PST and continuing for 2-6 hours while they upgrade our computer systems. Please be patient with the process. We'll all still be here when it's done. :laughtwo:

Website Down For Upgrades

While I was out I was thinking about ideas for pots. It's obvious I won't be able to get more than two crates in there at a time, and the photo tent has the filter and fan to accommodate, so there had to be other options. I think I solved them.

The tiny closet already has two pots on SWICK reservoirs in there, and I think I'll just leave them where they are. I'll be hanging the Timber Vero 240 in there. The Budmaster will be for the photo tent.

In order to get two crates in the tents one has to be raised slightly. I have some lengths of 2x4 that will do that easily. It just means I need to control the canopy. Easy peasy.

I found this long and low wire basket that can be lined with landscape cloth and set on a SWICK reservoir. It fits into the front space of the tent beautifully. I can use a window box without drain holes for the SWICK reservoir.

image7359.jpeg

I purchased a couple reusable grocery bags, which I believe should give me close to five gallons per bag to use in the photo tent.

image7360.jpeg

We have tents, pots, lights arriving (the other two should be here before long), and filtration.

Now I need to figure out fans and get the electrical worked out.

Gosh guys, I still can't believe I won that contest. These lights are going to make all the difference in my grow. Wow! I'm a bit stunned. Think I'll have some Carnival and think about this for a while.

"Click" Did you hear that? :laughtwo: That's the sound of life moving smoothly along. Spread the joy people. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:
