The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

Thanks Duggan. Hopefully that'll help. And good morning to you. :hug: :love:

My three stragglers aren't making me feel very comfortable.

I know the Dark Devil Auto's been known to take its time, and I don't know enough about the Auto Tut, but Carnival should have been up by now. So I dropped another seed. If they both come up I'll deal with it.

Everyone else is looking happy and healthy. Once they break the surface they're quite a vigorous species.

Time for life things. My list of gardening chores keeps growing.

Shade tent? I'm confused...

Great plant Canyon! Your pheno looks quite different than mine. The buzz sounds the same. Yep Sue would probably like it.

Glad you got the picture uploading worked out. They are putting a lot of effort into trying to fix it so we can batch upload on all browsers. These things take time I guess.

Thanks, I think I will let her go until something changes or until she stops taking up water.

About the tent, post 727 has your SnS with what I originally thought was a tent. Then in post 736 you said that it was an outdoor plant. So, then I thought maybe some high altitude sunburn protection. Sorry I need a class on multiple quoting.

Best

duggan,
That was a ways back. I have been ok with Firefox until now. IE will not hit the landing page for 420 here. Positive thoughts, they will get it going.

PeeJay, I went back a few pages, is that some kind of shade tent you are using?

I never know
Sorry Canyon...my Bad brotha! Just reminded me of all the trouble I had at Christmas trying to upload pics is all...have an awesome weekend !

duggan,
This one is on me. I just wanted to say that if you had a problem around Christmas and it is still a problem now, well it is more than 'Not realty a problem.' Problem is, that is not the way I worded it. [;>}

Best
It's not a problem now...I just switch over to Google Chrome whenever I upload pics to the Mag. I use Firefox for all my internet stuff except when I upload. Cheers eh!

New prize delivery. Today's wonder is a Budvac. Cute little item. I need to read up on it to find out what would be the chief advantage.

The hoodie I got from The Bulldog is turning out to be a great prize. Perfect for layering in sub-freezing temperatures.

Time to head out into the cold again. Brrrrr..... Rediculously cold out there.

If it is the little glass jars I would think the advantage is in spoilage. Removing most of the oxygen from the jar will reduce the ability of certain organisms to grow. Will also help prevent oxidation of the bud. Might be useful for super long term storage.

Weird. I've never seen a glass jar with wire bail that will hold a vacuum worth a damn. Hopefully they use some sort of super duper gasket.

We have a sealer like that and it does have one heck of a gasket on the lids. Just hook up the pump and greens last forever. I would use it for bud but for some reason I have rarely had issue with any going bad. Could be that I never grow enough to keep up with the darn smokers in this house.

Bob ;)
The only smoker in his house.

Hey there SS, ya , remember my problems uploading pics?? IE doesn't work ...had to upload using Google Chrome...Firefox doesn't work either....only GC. Cheers eh!
cometbird also works it is based on mozilla firefox

I spray oils up to week 3 of flower. Once stretch is over and buds are forming I stop use neem and essential oils as part of my ipm. The next few weeks (strain and timing dependant) I lightly spray the bottom leaves with essential oils.

I also use aact and different foliars with aloe. Neem\Karanja meal top dressed with compost\ewc. Neem\Karanja meal with kelp\alfalfa meal tea foliars. Healthy soil and plants going into flower is key.

Catching up here so sorry for the late post on the IPM thing but it's important enough... Everyone should be doing some sort of ritualistic form of IPM. Get used to it, sooner or later you will need it if you grow for any length of time.

36 good to see you doing it organically. I do it that way as well. One thing I don't use yet is oils. I have them but I just don't use them. What I do is make a tea with neen cake meal & ground up kelp meal, add in pro-tetk and Fulpower - add that to a gallon of water and foiler spray until the plants are soaked everywhere.

The neem cake meal has ~40% of everything the oil has but you can spray at lights on without worrying about leaf burn from the oils. Reason I don't use the oils... my VEG room is 20/4 so lights out is in the middle of the night .. not going to foiler spray then so I do it right at lights out in the flower room. Also you can spray the above mix all the way thru to the day before harvest. It's a very light neem mix so there's no residual smell or taste to worry about. But enough to keep the critters away/at bay.

Also for folks using essential oils for foiler, add in some saponin (soap nuts or Aloe gel) - this will emulsify the oils so they are suspended in water better and you should get a better coating on the plants. Don't forget to spray the stalks too!

Saponin info bomb alert: Folks in Flint, MI should read more on the benefits!! We use soap nuts for washing clothes here at our home and other goodness.

Saponins from edible legumes: chemistry, processing, and health benefits. - PubMed - NCBI

IPM Reipe:

2 tbs of kelp meal
1 tbs neem cake meal
1/2 tsp of Pro-tetk
1 tbs fulpower
1 gallon or a little more RO water.
Spray like there's no tomorrow - FTW.

Pro-tetk is silica which helps the plant resist pests and disease (among other good things) and its organic.

I thought I'd thro that out there for anyone that's really into foiler and IPM. Its a great habit to get into will solve a lot of problems, proactively.

Hahaha! My feeling exactly. I was standing here looking at my projected timelines and checking out my stash, realizing there's no way I'm going to make this stash last all the way through to my next harvest. Surely there's a way to get ahead of the game? I know, I hear you, grow bigger plants, and run perpetual. :laughtwo:

I've never had anything around to keep in long-term storage. The BudVac will make an interesting addition to my jar collection.

Thank you Bob. You saved me having to track you down. It was on my list of things to do.

I made a list of the amendments I add to my soil through the regular weekly drenches. My feeling about Integrated Pest Management is you want healthy soil communities that grow healthy plants, because healthy plants repel pests and healthy soil does the same. Most of my management is done through those regular drenches.

I do two regular drenches a week for the LOS no-tills. This is every week, regardless of the life cycle of what's growing in the pots. I'm maintaining the soil, the soil is raising the plant.

Sprouted Seed Drench (per gallon)

* 1 heaping TBS malted barley grain powder
* 10ml FulPower Fulvic Acid
* 5ml Agsil

I choose to use Malted Barley Grain for this drench. It's already been sprouted under rigorous methods so all I need to do is grind it to a powder and either sprinkle it onto the soil and water in with the remaining drench components or add it to the water and let it sit for up to four hours before adding the rest of the components and drenching. No need to strain. If I'm feeling frisky I may sprout popcorn or some other seed, but it's hard to beat the malted barley grain.

Drench components

- malted barley grain:chosen for the wealth of enzymes present
- fulvic acid: allows nutrients to piggyback their way to immediate availability (once a month substitute humic acid for fulvic)
- Agsil 16h: potassium silicate for healthier immune systems, improves photosynthetic efficiency, strength and protection against mold and powdery mildew

Aloe Drench

* 1/4 cup aloe vera juice (1/4 tsp 200x powder)
* 1/4 cup fresh young coconut water
* 5 ml Agsil
** every other week add TM7 (humid acid) at 1/2 tsp/5 gal water

Drench Components

- aloe vera juice: supplies saponins to trigger the plant's defense system, and a slew of plant hormones and enzymes
- coconut water: for the cytokinins (phytohormones that promote cell division)
- Agsil 16h (see above)

Aside from the regular drenches I'll do one neem/kelp drench sometime during the first 8 weeks of veg, and possibly another sometime during flowering, about halfway through that stage.

- neem meal: enriches the soil, balances the nutrition and trace elements, builds strong roots and deters pests
- kelp meal: for rooting compounds, macronutrients, increased yield and potency, pest and disease resistance and stronger roots

The essential oil additions I'll be using are intended to mimic a technique suggested by Cajun to increase trichome development and density. That's not something I've tried before, it's an experiment some of us are running this growing season, to see for ourselves if this is something worth pursuing. If we can encourage more resin development this translates into more oil, so if it works, it's a no-brainier.

It's nice to have that formula for the spray. I may mix some up and give it a go.

Oops! I just remembered I didn't buy milk for the lactobacillus serum I need to start. On the list for tomorrow's adventure.

So much useful info here.

I do have the most amazing people stop by and share PeeJay. You've added your own useful info more than once. I'm in awe of all of you. :laughtwo: I'm compelled to succeed. Look at who I hang around with. :circle-of-love:
