The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

Canyon and others trying to convert CF to gallons. 1 Cubic foot = 7.5 gallons.

Thank you for that. I was too scattered when I answered that yesterday. Yeah, we'll call it scattered. :laughtwo: This is the measurement I use when I mix my soils. Lol!

My dear friend in Phoenix made a cake you all have to see. It's a birthday cake for a precocious 9-yr old granddaughter who will someday rule the airwaves, if she has anything to do with it. You can see this child poised to get out there and take over. Hahaha! The cake is decorated with emojis. You are gonna love this cake. I left pictures on the Spot. Here's a link - your shot of joy from SweetSue on this delicious morning filled with possibility.

Emoji Cake

Alright people, you know the drill. I've given you a delightful launching pad of joy to set the tone for your day.

Get out there now and spread that joy far and wide. :hugs:

Is this normal. I've noticed the bigger leaves turning yellow , some getting crisp at the ends and falling offVimeUhOh

.Live , love , grow.

On the one hand, this is totally normal and you will still get good buds.

On the other hand, there are folks who try not to let this happen by various foliar and nutrient feedings. They feel they will get better buds with greener leaves.

The mechanism at work seems to be that the plant is starved for nutrition and withdraws the nutrients that feeding the chloropyll cycle of transforming light enrgy into sugars - and redirects those energies into growing trichomesand swelling the buds. Certain strains do this more than other strains.

The only hallucinagenic high I ever got was from a plant that looked like this.
The bigest yield I got was from a plant that stayed mostly green.

I suggest you ty to keep her green, but don't stress about the yellow.

If you are letting her dry out between waterings, don't. Your girl will probably be happier with watering every other day and late bloom nutrients. If you know growers who use similar soil and nutrition, ask them what they tweak in late bloom.

Don't stress. You are growing good buds.

Ooooo...... So pretty. Yes, this is absolutely normal. These are your plant's autumnal colors, the tones she takes on as she enters the end of the dance. The plant pulls the nutritional value from the leaves as it winds down its lifespan. The leaves turn yellow, become desiccated, and fall off, much like trees do at the end of the growing season.

I can see your pistils have begun to change. Resist the impulse to harvest too early, unless you need those meds. In that case, harvest a small branch and hang it to dry (after a quick wash, of course :battingeyelashes: ) but leave the rest. The swelling of the buds in the final two weeks is dramatic. You don't want to deny yourself the thrill of watching the magic happen.

She's looking real frosty. You have every reason to be proud of her Hushsoundz. :high-five:

I see Rad beat me to you with his own insight. All good points.

Thanks Rad. :hugs:

Your answer sounded so much more joyful than mine.

There was joy in my answer too - I swear it :)

Yes sweetsue there is definitely an urge but I can master the impulse. Now is probably the best time for me to start flushing I'm assuming.

.Live , love , grow.

I think you have some time before you start flushing. I'm new to that part, but I personally waited with my first hempy until a week from when I anticipated harvest and flushed her then. My flowers burned so clean the ash was white.

My rule of thumb is to listen fit the plant to tell me it's done, and then wait a week before chopping. I used to say that and then chop the next day. :laughtwo: I'm learning to follow my own directives. Lol!

Weekly Update: Veg tent, January 6, 2017

Good evening everyone. Almost forgot to get this done today. Where does the week go? :laughtwo:

Carn1:4 is chomping at the bit to get into the flowering tent. I'll be scrubbing it out for the final time tomorrow and she'll be flipped on Sunday.

IMG_319617.JPG

The humidifier has helped tremendously, but getting humidity consistently higher than this will continue to be something of a challenge. No doubt I'll get it all worked out at some point.

IMG_319716.JPG

Candy Cane Auto (Day 33) She got set on her SWICK reservoir on Monday. I've been checking the water levels daily, and they've stabilized now, so the pot has reached its balance point. She also had a thorough drenching on Tusday, water only.

She looks absolutely luscious. :battingeyelashes: I never topped her. This is my first one, and I've decided that from now on the first one gets to grow wild and free so I have some sense of what to expect from them. The thrips signs were from a previous time. All new growth is pest-free.

IMG_319815.JPG

IMG_319917.JPG

Carn1:4 (Day 85) Sunday's her day. Her last drench was Tuesday, plain water only. She had a thorough Brix today, quite a challenge with a bushy one like this. Her color is off. I'm pretty sure she needs that next Energy drench, which she'll get for sure either tomorrow or Sunday. Looking at her in this picture, I'd say it's gonna be tomorrow.

IMG_320019.JPG

New growth looks gorgeous, and it's all over her.

IMG_320118.JPG

IMG_320217.JPG

Shes gonna take the entire tent. :slide:

IMG_320415.JPG

I've managed to keep the canopy under control. Once she gets moved I can pull her open a bit more with some tie downs.

IMG_320516.JPG

IMG_320614.JPG

When she gets flipped it's going to leave the Candy Cane in there all alone for a while. I'm resisting the urge to plant anything else until my soil's cooked. It's time to begin committing to the shift to all Doc's HB soil. I keep reminding myself that I have more than enough on hand, and I can afford to breathe for a short time.

Next up, the tiny closet.

Weekly Update: The Tiny Closet, January 6, 2017

An eclectic-looking group, eh? :laughtwo:

IMG_320719.JPG

CBD Critical Cure (Day 36) I wish there was some way to keep her in HB soil, but I know for certain she's gonna be unhappy with this small soil plot any day now. She'll be the last of the LOS pots to go through. It'll be interesting to see how she transitions into the LOS community after an HB start. I've haven't done that before, to my recollection.

IMG_320815.JPG

She's about as light as she can be, and still looks like she could hold out a couple more days, doesn't she? I seem to recall this was a good one for drought resistance. My records read she's had only one watering since the 12th of Deccember. Impressive.

IMG_320911.JPG

IMG_321014.JPG

Carn2:1 Emerald (Day 73) Her last feeding was on Monday, when she recieved the per-gallon equivalent of 3/4 tsp each CaliMag, Micro and Grow, and 1/2 tsp of Bloom. Bumping her up slowly. She's responding with more vigor and the development of some healthier coloration. I'm heartened that I can not only save her, but get some decent produce out of her in the end.

IMG_321115.JPG

She's a little bonsai beauty, and I can feel Dale smiling every time I go over and look at her. :cheesygrinsmiley: I'll be pulling out the CFLs in the next couple days to get some side lighting on that new growth. I'd like to get her filled in much more before she slips into the flowering tent.

Good color in the new growth. :slide:

Dark Devil Auto 5 (Day 54) She got a thorough drench of water only on Tuesday. She has more than another ten days to go, I can assure you of that. This one's looking like one that may go 80-90 days.

Lots of flowering going on behind the scenes.

IMG_322519.JPG

She's really just getting started. The next couple weeks are so much fun. :yahoo:. The smell stops you in your tracks. This plant's growing in a fresh batch of LOS and its ramping up the terpenes.

The irony of my finally getting a plot of aloe established, as I discontinue the soil they were meant to serve.

IMG_322815.JPG

They are happy plants though. And I'm certain I'll find uses for them.

One more grow space to go. :ciao:

Hiya, Sue, 15 lbs of Wiggleworm is not near enough....you are not following Doc's instructions....slap slap on your wrist....it all starts with the soil.....that is the foundation of it all....we can't call you one of us if you are not doing the right thing....and I am here to right this wrong along with Duggan because we care....just sayin'..... :cheertwo:

PS If you use the kit you don't need to flush....most of us wash our buds instead....

It's been 26 days since flip. Blooming continues to progress. :cheesygrinsmiley:

IMG_326511.JPG

Let's start with Carn1:3 (Day 88) I've been checking her every day for any signs of mites. I did find one leaf, which I promptly removed, but no signs of any others on this plant. I will remain vigilant.

IMG_322916.JPG

Despite the obvious nitrogen overload, she's producing well. This is all bonus bud for me, so no pressure.

IMG_323715.JPG

Carn1:6 (Day 85) Not much left of her now. What mites I did find I found on her. I made an executive decision to eliminate all but the healthiest part of the plant and let this part ride to the end. No drench for the past week.

IMG_323813.JPG

IMG_323913.JPG

IMG_324114.JPG

I'm just having fun with this one. No other reason to keep her. She may attract any mites to her, which wouldn't be a bad thing.

IMG_324417.JPG

Carn2:1 (Day 73) All of the Carn2 clones are the same age. Time to do a little cleanup.

I picked off all growth that I knew wouldn't amount to much. All the popcorn I harvested from the previous harvest made me more aware of how non-essential it is. I'd rather the potential of the plants go to the colas than popcorn.

One last glance back.

IMG_326511.JPG

That's the nickel tour. Thank you for stopping to join in the fun. I certainly hope your day had a portion of the joy that flowed through my own day. Isn't life sweet? Yeah, I thought so too.

I may become a bit absorbed as the year progresses. I had a book on the ECS catch me off-guard and organize itself right in front of me this afternoon. That's an experience totally new to me. I could feel it building, and today it seems to have burst forth. I don't think I have much choice but to answer the call and let myself get lost in my first of what may be many books.

IMG_326720.JPG

My future, apparently, has come calling. :battingeyelashes:

I hate them damn bugs... F'ing parasites, really what other purpose do they have? Maybe food? Ever think of trying afew bucks on predators? I did once but my problem was larger than I thought and ended up throwing the grow away and starting over. But if you don't have a infestation I can see how they wood work, and after the food is gone I'd imagine they wood starve or move on. Everytime I find one I'm in trouble. That's why I stopped a perpetual grows,, gives me time to clean up. I mean small seedlings are easy to treat, but the more leafage you got,, the harder to fight them suckers. Good idea cutting abit out of her. I see you say nitrogen overload. That could account for all the leaf curl you been dealing with, she might be a real lite feeder.. Hope you have a Great year this one,, and Keepem Green

You make an excellent point Woody. I started with the idea of perpetual, as a way to keep a steady flow. What I've learned is that the perpetual schedule keeps pests in rotation too. I'm beginning to appreciate the way a set run gives you the time to tear down and scrub it all clean again. My flower tent's been sitting empty for a week as I continue to let things dry out after each scrub. By tonight it'll be ready for the flip.

I've been surprised at how well I've been able to spot the earliest signs and remove the occasional leaf. Caught early enough this is an effective way to keep down numbers. They're just little earthlings Woody, trying to carry on their own genetic line. Given their proclivity to explosive population growth, I'd say they must have evolved as a basic food source, much like mice. We simply aren't aware of what species was intended to feast on them. We may have driven that species to extinction, or it may have simply died off.

There's a reason for every species on the planet, in the same way there's a biological reason for everything you carry inside your skin. One species has no innate superiority over the others, and it behooves us to learn to coexist with the least disruption and destruction possible. It feels better that way too. Killing, even tiny critters, is often a knee-jerk reaction that could have been held off while we took a breath and changed our perspective.

My style is still evolving. It'll be interesting to see where I am in this process in another two years. I've settled into this fast-moving energy stream where learning accelerated. Having so much fun. :laughtwo:

Are we all having fun my friends? Somewhere around here Pigeons must have the wake 'n bake video loaded. It's time to supplement the breakfast brownie. :laughtwo: I went back to being responsible, and I'm only having half a brownie at breakfast and then another around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. I've been running hot long enough. I don't need to get tolerance levels so high that I need to take the desensitization protocol again. Awk!!!

It's a joyful morning. I haven't been outdoor in two days now, since the snow started. I may need to venture out into the cold. Food might be a good thing, eh? :laughtwo: The shelves are getting a bit barren. Have a wonderful day and spread all the joy you can muster. At the end of the day you'll find you still have more than you started out with. Expansion, don't you just love that concept? :slide:

Looking beautiful here. Great job with your girls. You are getting better and better Sue. You keep doing that and I keep the smile on my face, right? Haha, have fun with the girls girl! :thumb:  :Namaste:
