The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

Hi! Just popping in to catch up. That Carnival sure is going to be a nice harvest. :cheertwo:

:hugs::hugs::hugs:

Hi Fuzz. :hugs::hugs::hugs:

I decided just now what I'm going to do with the clones. I'm a little excited now. I transplanted Carn1:3 into two gallons of soil and have a plan now to get them moving on. :slide:

I know how much you love the carnival, so it is going to be one heck of harvest party at your place :circle-of-love:

Daily hugs to you all :hugs:
SweetSue, did you get my PM with the links to root ideas?

I'm gonna have jars and jars of Carnival. :laughtwo: I'll have to remember to pick up more jars before the harvests.

Yes, I did get your PM and thank you so much. I'm still looking it all over. Sorry I didn't get back to you. Blame it on the Devils. :laughtwo: They pretty much took me out of commission yesterday. :laughtwo:

Daily hugs Baby. :hugs::hugs::hugs:,

Update: Friday, November 18, 2016

Friday has become the designated day for the complete updates. From this point on I'll post randomly throughout the week on projects or things I'm excited about (Oooo.... that could easily get out of hand, couldn't it?) and do a complete update on Fridays. Let's give this a couple weeks and see how I adapt.

On to the stroll through the spaces. :battingeyelashes: :Love: Shall we? Here, take my arm and let's walk.

I started the day's gardening adventure with a little bit of clone play. Carn1:3 is crying for more soil. I mean, look at that sad face. :straightface:

IMG_169733.JPG

She's in about a half-gallon of soil right now, and I can't believe she keeps growing. I gave her a half-strength DeStress, and I'll continue to do that for a few days, but I have to do something about this.

IMG_169826.JPG

OK, I transplanted her into two gallons of soil and gave her a TransWater drench. Then I did a little LST to level her out.

image18874.jpeg

She looks much happier already, no? She's at Day 39. At this point she stands about six inches tall.

IMG_170228.JPG

Carn1:5 (Day 36) She's the smallest and weakest of the clones, but new growth looks promising.

IMG_170422.JPG

Carn1:6 (Day 39) It appears the comfrey root and EWC may save these two clones. Regardless, when the rest hit somewhere in the neighborhood of 12" the shelf gets flipped.

IMG_169530.JPG

I started LST with the Carn2 clones. Now I let them get to that one foot benchmark, switch out the lights and let them run. I don't need to clone any more. I have a couple other strains I'm anxious to try. It's time to order a Dark Star for after the New Year. I'll take a couple clones so I have one to start for another try at the hempy experiment, but that one can veg in the tiny closet with the DDA5 while the shelf flowers out.

This was just a pretty silhouette shot. :battingeyelashes:

Moving on to the flowering tent.

Carn1:1 (Day 42) See the flowers starting to burst forth? :woohoo: :slide:

Carn1:2 (Day 42) More of the same. :yahoo:

Train Wreck Auto (Day 28) Blooming away. It's so fascinating how they start blooming when they're still tiny little things.

IMG_168526.JPG

Carn1:4 (Day 36) I think I chose well with this one. Tomorrow I'll start her training.

IMG_168721.JPG

Yep, she's looking like a good candidate.

One last glance into the veg/cloning shelf. The new DDA seed got planted yesterday. Nothing up yet. I expect in the next day or two. It was a beautiful seed.

That's the nickel tour. Thanks for stopping by. It's looking good. I'm always surprised at this point that things are going so well. :laughtwo: Truth be told, it's starting to feel more and more instinctive. There just so much to learn. I'm having a good time with it though, and that's the best we can hope for with a hobby, isn't it?

I keep taking it past hobby stage, don't I? Lol! That's ok. I have the time and freedom to play until I settle on something that pleases me. Little by little I'm discovering what works for me and my patients. This is fun. :laughtwo:

Time to find nourishment. I keep forgetting about meals. Oh yeah, I brought home leftovers yesterday. Cool, a good meal I only have to heat. :slide:

Continue on your joyful path. I'll be running into you later when I get out on the digital streets and get to visit some gardens. Until then.....

:Namaste:

Yes Rifleman, aloe. I'd seen this done on another forum, but this was my first attempt. I found a video reference to this posted by a grower of aloe and thought it worth the try. The seed was planted last night. I have great expectations.

I forgot the baby!! :oops:

DDA5 (Day 5)

Now i won't claim to know squat about LOS or organics but some of your girls look to my untrained eye to be suffering from excess nitrogen or if it were hempy i would say possible too high of ph but those aren't hempys so i could be way off the mark. The reason i say high ph is cause it reminds me a little of what weaselcracker and i had going on with our plants the droopy thing but even though i know near to nothing about organics i know you don't need to worry bout ph really (lucky lol) so i would figure thats ruled out. Just been trying to figure out whats up though maybe you already know and im just too medicated and totally missed it Lol

This has been my thought all along too lexort, but these clones came from kit soil, and I know if anything it would be a nitrogen deficiency, something I know isn't being expressed here. This is also classic signs of overwatering, but I'm not sure I've been overwatering either. It's gonna remain a mystery I suppose. I'll get all of these to harvest and move on to something else, starting with new soil all around.

The truth of the matter is my kit soil suffered two emergency tear down's mid stream. We can't be certain without testing what the soil's really made of at this point. What we do know is that it isn't operating in the optimal range and no one has any real idea why.

Damn girl, that looks sweet!!! :)

And yet, she still continues to stun the crowd. :laughtwo: You should smell it mouser. Carnival gives off the terpene that my brain translates into a buttery goodness. An incredibly intoxicating scent that smacks you in the face when you open the tent flap.

Happy Saturday Sue. Hope you have a great weedend :hugs: :Love: :hugs:

Well hello there Mr Am4zin. Happy Saturday to you. :hugs: :Love: :hugs: My weekend it going smashingly. :laughtwo: Yours?

:passitleft:

Packages in the mail today included the succulent and cacti potting medium for the aloe transplants.......

IMG_170819.JPG

..... the supply of comfrey root and stinging nettle (I started a nettle aerated compost tea - 4 cups of water, 1/4 cup stinging nettle, splash of BSM, 1/4 cup EWC, pinch of sphagnum - bubble 24-36 hours) .....

IMG_170923.JPG

...... and the five-gallon fabric pots for the auto tent. I'm taking all of the autos to five gallons from now on. I've decided to keep the autos in LOS and the photos in kit soil.

IMG_171028.JPG

I should be able to get four into the tent at once. These tiles are 2'x2'.

IMG_171326.JPG

I stuck my head in and started the LST on Carn1:4.

IMG_171225.JPG
IMG_171122.JPG

I added a cup of the stinging nettle to each of the LOS reserve bins I have going. My plan is to alternate comfrey and stinging nettle drenches with the LOS pots. This ACT I'm brewing is because I started a new pot and need to charge it with soil bots. If the new DDA comes up it'll go into a new pot of soil as well and will also need the ACT. It's been eleven days since the Train Wreck got drenched last. I've gotten away with that because it's still so small, but I'm compromising the soil community by going that long between drenches. With LOS you're looking for evenly hydrated at all times. That's why the SWICKS worked so well with the autos.

I'll be contemplating a way to get SWICK reservoirs back into play with the autos. In the meantime I'll be training myself to keep a regular drench schedule with the LOS pots from this point on.

It's funny... my two Carnivals smell and taste entirely different. The first one smells like diesel and raspberry like Graytail's and the second one smells dank and earthy. The Carnival 1 gives you a shot to the front of the head and puts a smile on your face. The Carnival 2 is more subtle and more body. Still hits you in the face but it's more chill. Weird right? You would think the strain would be more homogeneous. Still love the smoke more than any other strain I've tried.

Miss you Sue

:hugs::hugs::hugs:

Garden is a beauty and i hope she will perk up soon. ( the sad carnival)

She looks sad, but she purrs. :laughtwo: She's gonna give me a decent harvest. Supplemented by all the clones I should finally have enough Carnival on hand to risk making CCO. When I run the next seed of Carnival it'll be in better-controlled soil, so I anticipate a healthier specimen.

I can't really complain about this one though. She's coming along nicely, all things considered. It's hard to be disappointed in this

Miss you too Noob.

:hugs::hugs::hugs:

I like the way you talk. :laughtwo: I have both expressions in my garden, so I'll get to explore the differences myself. :slide: I'll tell you, it's intriguing having three different expressions of DDA on hand. Each one offers a new experience. I'm finally seeing the beginnings of a varied inventory building. I've eliminated the street weed from my cupboard - thank goodness. It was odd having that around. :laughtwo: Made good brownies in the end. Lol!

I think I'll go out and take stock of just exactly what I have on hand out there. I have some tinctures I wanted to evaporate the alcohol from too.

Sue, I saw in your update you're planning on flipping your bathroom shelf of clones soon. Is that shelf light proofed? I seem to remember it not looking like it was. It crossed my mind with running autos like you do in the tiny closet, that you might not be thinking about the clones as photos since they are auto sized.

Thanks for the concern Morglie. :hugs: I'll be buying a better light-blocking curtain and hang it higher so that when the lights go out there won't be any light getting into the grow space. I was out looking at them today and found the perfect one for the perfect price. :battingeyelashes:

Your Carnival looks incredible...curled leaves and all. Makes me really look forward to when mine is done :) Sorry for the blurry pics, my camera is not behaving.

She has such beautiful leaves. You have happy days ahead with her mouser. After you take some cuttings for clones she'll explode all over again. How close are you to flip?

She wont be flipped for at least 3 weeks. She is competing with the Panama clone for Flower Tent digs. Of course I may also just toss my Quick One in the bin opening up a 2nd spot. That girl just wont come out of the dressing room. :P

In all honesty, keeping her as a mother wouldnt be the worst idea. Im guessing she will be a favorite along with the Panama in the coming months. If I can nail TOAST's cloning technique down she better get comfy where she is :)
