The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

Every , what,...three four days....? If so, that's great. Just wondering how fast her metabolism is right now..is all.

She's 7-10 days between Duggan. This concerns me a bit. Any suggestions?

That's not very much water uptake. Keep a very close eye on it Sue,...IMO she should be drinking more . 2,1/2 - 3 gal's . is not very much for every 7- 10 days in a 10 gal. pot. Have you , by chance got another batch of DBHBB soil ready to go? I would love a peek at her roots.

Daily Update: Saturday, November 5, 2016

Good evening everyone. Let's take that daily stroll and see what everyone's up to, shall we?

Starting in the lonely auto tent, the Train Wreck is now 15 days old. On Wednesday I'll move the clones that'll be kept vegging into this space. Tonight I'll be starting another Industrial Plant seed. Gotta get another CBD auto behind me for everyone's capsules.

Not quite ready to top. A couple more days, from the looks of it.

The interior is just filled with these frosty little popcorn buds.

IMG_102238.JPG

The LOS clones all got a shot of comfrey fertilizer. I figure that's the best bet for the small pots. In fact, I was thinking that I need to run the LOS pots on a strict diet of drenches with comfrey and aloe, supplemented liberally with kelp. If I pick up the practice of kelp foliars it might make all the difference in the world. What they really need it more root space. I should be able to make that happen tomorrow.

IMG_102338.JPG

The solution to the kit girls is also more root space. That'll happen on Wednesday, when the soil's done cooking.

IMG_102438.JPG

Emerald doesn't look any better, but she doesn't look any worse either, and she has some growth going on. I'll take that as a good sign.

IMG_102540.JPG

It's too late in the season to harvest comfrey leaf and I used the last of my homemade fertilizer on the clones today, but I do have some comfrey root on hand. I dropped some into a stainless measuring cup and added some boiling water, covered and left to steep. I'll dilute it for watering purposes.

I also started the lactobacillus serum yesterday with a rice wash made of the warm water swirled through a cup of white rice, strained and lightly covered so bacteria can get to it.

I forgot to date it so I'd know when it was started. It sits like this until it separates into three layers. I'll extract the middle layer and continue the process from there. It'll be sometime within the next week.

Thats all for today. Thank you for stopping by and visiting. Your presence makes the journey sweeter. :battingeyelashes:

I've been playing with this buzz for a couple hours now as I pull together these posts, so let me reset my intention to simply getting blasted and start anew. :laughtwo:

Incidentally, food for thought - when you're partaking, in an effort to reap the greatest rewards try asking yourself these three questions:

1. What effect am I seeking? (Intention)

2. What benefit will this effect be for me? (Expectation)

3. Is my timing and my setting respectful to myself and the other people around me? (Appropriate Implementation)

Like I said, just food for thought. I tend to be pretty mindless about my own usage. I use edibles so the bong is supplementation that's just always there. I'm not your normal hear though, am I? :laughtwo:

It's Saturday night and I'm testing out the Early Miss. She won't be ready to jar up until tomorrow but there was a small branch of single-shot popcorn that dried faster. I'll be enjoying that this evening. So far I'm finding her an uplifting buzz, very tasty and fragrant, smelling sweetly of ripe apples. Very yummy.

Have a wonderful evening. I hope to run into some of you out in the yards. Until then....

:Namaste:

I have a full bin of soil that'll be ready to go on Wednesday. What are you suggesting?

Thank you BB. This is where my brain kept going over the last 24 hours. I have problems in both soils and it's time to start over in both cases. I've been running the LOS for over two years now and something happened to the HB soil. After I get the rest of the soils potted up I'll start new batches for the next runs.

I've been putting it off because the peat moss has been sitting on the balcony long enough I'll have to sterilize it or I'll be bringing thrips into the garden, I just know it. I'll be potting up the last of the soils on Wednesday. I'll start the renewal process then. By the next round it'll all be first run.

Yeah I think we started that soil at the same time a few years ago. I've already ditched mine into the outdoor gardens, got the clawed up curled under leaves and kept having to do ACT teas with worm castings, compost and malted barley.. it worked but it got to be too much work for me. I'm lazy...

I amend the soil and put it outside .. my veggies and flowers love it but container gardening is a whole different deal.

I think I could get along with rotating pots .. amend put cover crops in and no cannabis, wait 3-4 months and run that no-till pot again. I just don't think I get the best results with no-till over and over run right after the other. I'm trying some new methods for watering and that new system I think I going to require that I mix new soil every other round and recycle my soil.

Expense for new soil - bale of peat moss cheap.. I've been using Biomax from Premier for part of my humus. I found this locally for $8 a bag ... I'm hoarding it now.. hahahahaha ... mix in some compost and some worm castings with nutrients and minerals = we did well last round.

Link and good read about bagged soils and whatnot:

PREMIER BIOMAX - BUY WITH CONFIDENCE

On the peat moss and bugs... there's bugs everywhere - you ain't gonna get rid of them, its all about management. Grow healthy genetics and keep relatively clean grow space and quality input.... IPM and you'll be fine.

A bottle of the Monterrey is all I need (Thrips - treatment 2x every 2-3 days & repeat; or they come back). If the Borg (spider mites) show up (they like it REAL hot & humid tho), then its the Dr Bronners Peppermint soap and Neem oil. You just got rid of 99.5% of any pests you need to worry about.

The thing I worry about with the Peat Moss is the acidity - that kills a lot of stuff even insects and plants too.. The thing about CSPM is where it comes from. Yeah they have bugs in Canada (mosquitoes oh God and the flies) but it's not the really bad ones we deal with growing cannabis. That and they are very short lived.

Growing season outdoors in Canada is like 2 months .... I have a place up there (Cottage 420) and they have a peat moss "factory" not far from where I go.. They just dig up bogs and dry em out and truck em outta there in bales and truckloads. Its organic for sure. Check out that link I posted and read about CCC and CQA.. good stuff.

Light bulb... grow cannabis in the bogs... the 60-75 day auto strains! I have an idea..... take seeds to the soil instead of the opposite! OMG... Dark Devil outdoors.. yessss indeedy!

/tangent

Cheers

I started with the Clackamas Coot-style soil,

That's really all I need to do to maintain these plots of soil and it's why I'm so hesitant to let them go. Once you plant a no-till you can run it for numerous cycles with a simple EWC topdressing once or twice per cycle and use water only. Clackamas Coot is my soil hero.

True that... Coots is my hero too... I don't think Coots was into the no-till thing tho. He dumped last round into compost pile and mixed new for current round.

BlueJay was the no-till expert that Coots helped get where he got. We followed along ... now running 2 rounds and re-cycle amend in the first cycle for the 2nd round. I did manage to go ....10-15 rounds no-till same soil. Not bad... switched from mostly sativa to hybrid sativa/indica. I think different soil requirements (minor). I do miss the psychedelic sativa tho... I have a stash!

Everyone likes the OG .... bro. Just sayin.

Sativa... not for everyone! me likey.

My last round was all new soil mix.. dry weight tripled.

Have you got ,...or can grab a 15 gal. pot? Your Carn has only just begun to bloom, she will go another 9-10 weeks and i really think it would be a wise move. If you decide to do it, i believe it would be worth it. Let me know what you decide . Cheers.......this is fun eh!:rollit::)

Why yes Duggan, I do have a 15-gallon pot. :cheesygrinsmiley:

image10152.jpg

That problem is most likely caused by under watering and uneven watering. Water the entire volume of soil to saturation, every time. You may need to water a portion at a time to allow the water to absorb and not channel out of the pot. You'll know its saturated when the doesn't wick back into the pot. I would give them a bloom nutrient with the watering. The roots are weakened so they won't be able to feed off the soil enough. Giving soluble nutrients is like giving an IV drip for someone with flu. If the organism is too sick to eat then you'll have give them nutrients directly until they recover.

Thank you for your thoughts Brunt, and welcome to my joyful journal. I hear what you're saying, but with the system I'm using the roots need to come back to health. I have every assurance we can find a way within the kit system to at least get her to a decent harvest.

I assure you, I'm somewhat anal about my watering technique. :laughtwo: This pot has been completely saturated with every watering. I start every watering session by dampening the surface with a fine spray to eliminate channelling. I've been known to water a 10 gallon pot with a one ounce dosing cup to be certain every bit of the soil gets saturated. I often laugh at myself as I sit and talk tot the plant I'm hydrating. It may be why they reward me so well.

I made a mistake somewhere with this mix of soil. We haven't figured out where, but I have faith that the solution is there, we just need to be aware of it. She hasn't had any foliars for a while too, and that's not helping her. Which reminds me......

Duggan, I'll be giving her the first foliar tomorrow morning. Would you suggest a DeStress or Brix?

Good morning everyone.

I smoked that delicious Early Miss last evening, starting somewhere around 7 or so , I believe.

I was sound asleep by 11 PM. :laughtwo: I'll try that again tonight. My friend tells me this is his preferred daytime smoke. I'm a little leery about a strain that our SweetSue in bed before midnight. :thedoubletake: Not that I'm complaining about that. I got a solid 7 hours sleep, something I can't remember doing last, that's how long it's been.

I'll stick to the Dark Devil for daytime and make the shift this evening, see what happens. My friend may have done me a big favor with this strain suggestion. :battingeyelashes:

It's Daylight Savings time. I don't know about you, but I don't mess with my timers. My life runs unstructured, so the time change doesn't effect me the same way it does many of you. It freaked me out to have the lights kick on at 6 instead of 7 - that's what woke me up and it took a couple minutes to realize why the lights woke me up a full hour earlier than normal. Lol!

It's still too dark for a woman on her own to go walking along a lonely river trail, so I think maybe I'll have oatmeal first this morning. :cheesygrinsmiley: Be careful out there today and for the next couple days. This crazy time shift our governments insist on maintaining causes too many accidents at the point of time it gets implemented. Be safe. :hugs::hugs::hugs:

You are going to need the handles. [;>)

Best

:laughtwo: I'm not planning on moving this one around much after it gets filled Canyon. Lol! As it is now, with the ten gallon I was dragging it back to the tent inside the tote and then hoisting it over the lip to the floor. From now on I'll be top watering, so I won't need to pull her out at all. :yahoo: I mean, I'm one strong woman, don't get me wrong, but damn! 15 gallons of fully saturated water may be too much for even me. :laughtwo:

Good morning Sue, i'm up early again for an 8 oclock practice! Anyhow, when she needs a drink , don't....transplant her into that nice new 15 ya got there. When you do it ....make sure to fill it right up to the top but don't pack it down too much OK, just let it settle naturally over the next few weeks. As far as what spray ...give her a DeStress spray the day before you do the switch OK.....after she gets a good drink at this transplanting i'm 100% sure she will thrive ! Be sure to follow our transplanting procedures using "roots" too OK! If you have one put that 15 on a plant trollie ...it will make things a lot easier for ya too! I'l check in a lil later to see what you have decided....i've gotta get my butt moving right now......BTW...so glad you got that 15 woman.....:yahoo:....cheers Susan!:Namaste:

I purchased that last year for something else and it's just been waiting for this moment Duggan. :laughtwo: Alright. She'll be transplanted first thing Wednesday morning. I have a dolly I can use, but the problem is getting it over the lip of the tent. I'll leave her in there once she's in the bigger pot. She doesn't need to be moved other than a spin every now and then.

Have a great practice. Is this one yours? :woohoo: A morning on the ice. :yahoo:

Great news....no it's Ryan's practice! About the lip on the tent. Just leave her in there girl.....no need for photo shoots and crap....save all that stuff for when she's crazy big and full bloom! Cheers, gotta fly!

Stoner thoughts

I believe I have found my rhythm. :slide: Interestingly, it came to me because I had these brownies that needed to be eaten, and I rediscovered how much I like brownies for breakfast. Hmmmm..... Add scrambled eggs and coffee and I'm at a full tank. Hmmmmm.....

Back on the path girl! :laughtwo: Sometimes I marvel that you all put up with my distractable nature. Lol!

I make BioBomb Brownies. They give you a sizable punch about 5 - 10 minutes in and keep you, or I should say me, nicely ......... "Fueled" is how I'd describe it. This is my baseline. I get the same thing from capsules, but brownies taste better. :laughtwo: I've been experimenting with the last batch of brownies, looking for the best place in the schedule for a dose.

Today I had to admit that my best results were achieved when I had a whole brownie, the entire gram at once, right before I headed out for the four-mile walk. I often dawdle and linger, to admire something beautiful or contemplate a thought, so it takes longer than it used to for me to get back. The brownie hits full force at 90 minutes, and that corresponds with the end of my walk most days. Brings me home feeling really, really, really good. :battingeyelashes:

Let's see how long this carries and buy another box of mix. I wanna do that again. Lol!

I still laugh that a mere two years ago I didn't know what a sativa was. :laughtwo:

Agreed BB. I'm quite a fan myself. I view anything that slows me down with suspicion. :battingeyelashes:

Hello Sue!! Sorry im late to the show. There was no way I could read your whole journal that would take me a month. You seem to have some good knowledge for growing. I have an off topic question for you. My two Swiss Cheese clones where in 3 gallon pots that were really root bound. I just put them in flower about 6 days ago and decided to transplant them into 10 gallon pots last night. Is this too late to do a transplant? Will they get bigger than they would have if I kept them in the 3 gallon? I was just real hesitant to transplant in flowering stage. Your thoughts?
