The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

Good morning sweet one. Your yard is looking tip top. Please...continue with the progress. These ladies look like they have blessed w love.

Sorry Sue, I missed something. This is what your feeding your Auto's? :reading420magazine:

It's an Aerated Compost Tea (ACT), designed to boost the micro community in the pots. The kelp addition is a general all-round beneficial amendment for any garden (other than my kit pots, of course, which get their meal supplies in a more controlled environment).

Sue, when you water with that tea, do you use just the strained water or do you also topdress with the solids? Also, does it stink?

I don't always bother to strain. It depends on my mood, really. I realize that's arbitrary, but with LOS you can go either way. My soil already has many of the components I'd be using for an ACT anyway, and I topdress liberally with good vermicompost, so there's a good argument to be made that everytime I water I'm creating a sort of internal, compost tea. I'm just giving them a little shot in the arm with this application.

No, there's no strong smell, just a little woodsy element that actually quite pleasant.

Sue,

I just wanted to thank you. I'm just starting growing. I grew once before (2 cycles) and gave up for fear of being caught. I happened upon your journal a few months ago and have read it all!

My main reason for growing is to combat a mild to moderate depression I've lived with all my life (I attribute this to early childhood trauma and abuse). The reason I grew before was to be able to supply myself and medicate. I've tried pharma's solutions but always stopped due to the way it made me feel, coupled with my own intuition of doing more harm than good.

I'm not sure exactly what your influence is but I feel no need to define it. While reading through your journal I experienced a profound sense of hope and renewal of spirit.

Today I was compelled to post this and let you know that you've touched someone, me! Again, thanks so very much!

jump on in blumoon. make a journal. Have some fun. Reps for joining.

Good morning Susan!:Namaste:

Good morning Duggan. :hugs:  Here's your photo array for this morning.

Carnival #2 (Day 70)

The canopy is holding steady. No need for any adjustments.

Today's the day for the Energy drench. I'm beginning to read her body language now.

She'll get that Growth Energy drench and her next Brix foliar is tomorrow morning, bright and early. I'm feeling really good about this one Duggan.

Good morning everyone.

As I roll out of bed and into the shower I want to take a moment to encourage you to get that joy percolating and start spreading it around. The more you share the more you generate. Kinda nice how the universe worked that out for us. Be grateful in the extreme and watch the universe send you more things to be grateful for.

:Namaste:

I water it all in solids too. I use the smell to make sure it is fresh. Smells like good quality dirt sorta sweet smell. To me if it smells rancid it is probably no good.

TY!

So it sounds like it smells about the same as my worm bin unless there's too many anaerobic bacteria. Hmm... Ok, I think I'll try this at some point. Maybe when the plants are around 4 to 5 weeks old? How often do you use the compost tea? I was planning to top dress about once a month. If I used this tea should I still topdress as planned? Maybe just less often? *Sigh* I know the organic soil will be easier once I get all this figured out but it sure is frustrating getting there. Sorry for all the questions!

Morning Sue, hope you're having a great day so far :)

Your Carnival's canopy is looking superb! The whole plant is really starting to bush out for you. Can't wait to see her in bloom!

You got it. The ACT is simply a way of increasing the size of the micro herd in living organic soil. I typically do one ACT per cycle, and usually early in the life of one of the pots. My Early Miss is growing in new soil (first run for this pot) and I haven't done so yet.

You only need to topdress at the beginning of the cycle (EWC), possibly once more during veg, if it's a long-term veg, and once again as you flip into flowering mode. The soil you build has everything the plants could need, so you can get away with just two top dressings. These soils are made to be acceptable as a water-only run, should you choose to not use them as no-tills.

You're right about the frustration levels too. It's a lot to take in at first, but suddenly one day you realize your brain's translating it into something you easily digest. In time Fuzznutter, in time. :hugs:

there is such a steep learning curve. I feel I am almost at a plateau. But I have never learned as quick as everybody else. I learn very well I just need extra time to think cause I am a day dreamer.
those frustrating times go as quick as they come, I try to remember less is more with indoor organic.

Morning Stage. :hugs:  I like to think they're showered in love. :laughtwo: The auto tent smells of sweet berries with those two Dark Devil Autos in full bloom. The Early Miss is trying to set a record for vigorious growth and she keeps surprising me. First she topped herself into four leaders and now she sent out a defective bud site and backed it up with a replacement!

image747.png

Amazing seeds in this batch. I don't know what magic Crop King Seeds is using in their breeding practices, but this is fun. :laughtwo: All three plants my friend is growing from this same order gave him four leaders upon topping too, and they're three different strains. He's blown away by the vigor of his own plants.

An HB pointer: Making the drenches easier to do

When I do my HB drenches I use two different totes, one to drench in and another with a riser in it for finishing off that last little bit of drench in the bottom and for draining. One of Doc's instructions is to gently tilt the plant side to side during the draining stage, to increase aeration of the roots. That's pretty difficult to do when you're shifting around 10 gallons of fully-saturated soil. I came up with a way to make that chore easier.

A piece of 2x4 set on edge to tip the whole tote.

image17999.jpeg

I keep working it from one side to the other until it stops dripping. Then I run my finger along the bottom edge to release any wet spots before hauling the pot back to the tent.

image18000.jpeg

image18001.jpeg

Saved me a lot of strain. With the compromised scapular complex that tipping would have been incredibly painful today.

I think I have grown every Strain CropKingSeeds has offered the past few years, and yes, their breeders are top notch. I like to play with crossing strains (not real breeding), and their genetics are very stable after a cross. Just had to give a slap on the back of a honest company that cares about their reputation and product quality. Just ordered the newest CBD strain just added (CBD Auto Cheese), and will be harvesting a CB Dream Fem in about 2 weeks. I'm not a huge Auto fan in general, but only because I like to have more control over what happens and when it happens. Control Freak!!!

:laughtwo: I can identify with the control freak title. Lol! Was just laughing about this with a friend not 30 minutes ago. Lol!

I'll have to look into the CBD Auto Cheese. I'm interested in keeping the CBD strains to autos as much as possible. I can do one big photo CBD plant a couple times a year for infused oils and grow auto CBD strains for breakthrough inhalation administration. I'd also like to find one that helps my friend with pain, since inhalation appears to be where I'm being led with him.

Cheese strains fascinate me too, so there's that. :battingeyelashes:

Hey sue I read on here the other day someone mentioning how you organize your seed library :reading420magazine:. I did a search but no go, Do you have a keyword that might zero me in please? :thankyou:

Hab.

The key words were "seed bank" Hab. Here's the link. The discussion begins about four to five post before this one, but this link is to my post on the organized box.

Daily Update: Tuesday, October 4, 2016

Good evening everyone. What say we take our stroll and see what they're up to today? Starting in the auto tent, which smells of sweet berries. Yummy!!

Early Miss (Day 21) A vigorous one!

image18004.jpeg

It's gonna take her no time at all to fill this pot up.

image18005.jpeg

Dark Devil Auto 2 (Day 52) I've burned the edges of her leaves. This is nutrient burn, yes? I gave her a quick flush and plain water today while I rethink. I'm not a fan of this type of cultivation. I won't be repeating it. I have a hard time putting a plant through all this when it's easier and kinder to let the soil produce what the plant needs, on demand.

image18006.jpeg

She's not slacking off though, I'll give her that. What a trooper.

Dark Devil Auto 3 (Day 42)

image18008.jpeg

Imagine this in another month. :woohoo:

image18009.jpeg

Since I had Carnival #2 out for her Growth Energy drench today I grabbed a few shots in natural light.

Carnival #2 (Day 70)

A good shot of the landscape of her interior. They're starting to notice the open space above them. :laughtwo:

Back in her home, all safe and sound. She took 2.5 gallons of water.

She's gonna be extraordinary when she's in full bloom. Geez, look at those leaves. Even without the purple this is an impressive strain and I'm convinced the plants under this Timber Vero240 are stronger and healthier than their counterparts under the other lights. At some point I plan on figuring out why that is in easy to understand language. My experience with the three plants I've grown under it have sold me.

When this plant comes out I'll replace it with an auto CBD at a 2:1 ratio. I was planning on shutting down in February before I go on vacation, but just yesterday the daughter volunteered to make sure nothing died while I was gone. :yahoo: so I can breathe and stop trying to figure out how to maximize the grow to account for a shutdown. My perpetual will remain a perpetual.

Big sigh of relief. *SIGH* :laughtwo: I think it finally sunk in that the garden benefits her, first and foremost. Mostly it's because her meds, grown in this garden, remove her anxiety at possibly killing one. Whatever, her mother is relieved to be spared this complication. Maybe now I'll be able to stay ahead of myself.

Time to rustle up some dinner. I'll catch up to you later. Thanks for stopping.

:ciao: :green_heart:

Before I go....... I decided to stick my camera in and see how Carnival was recovering from the drench. Glad I did. She's much perkier now.

image18019.jpeg

I see some potential supercropping candidates rising up.

SweetSue's Seed Bank

Yep! I did this the other day! Now I know where every seed I own is. (HAHAHAHA Right after I typed this I confidently looked over at my nightstand expecting to see the card box. It wasn't there! A quick moment of panic and then I remembered I put it in my dresser. :phew: Thought I lost them again. :laughtwo:) The only thing I did different was write the date I received each seed, whether it was sativa-dominant, etc. and the flowering time on each card.

I understand how you feel about the Hempy. I liked it in that it produced a LOT in a little space, but I always felt like I was always walking this fine line with nutrients. They need a little more of this or a little less of that. Test the pH again, flush, more nutes. Ugh, it tarnished the growing experience a little.

I'm so happy to hear about your daughter offering to watch the grow! That is huge. It will be good for her to learn how to grow on her own, even if it's just a short-duration plant-sitting job.

Edit: I forgot to add your plants look amazing!
