The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

If I'd taken the time to notice your technique I'd have saved myself the frustration lexort. I may try that with the next one and then slip it into the deeper pot when it's ready to have more root space. I'm not holding out much hope for her. To have an auto stall this badly for two weeks isn't a good thing. I know from my limited experience that it's a waste of time and effort to keep her going unless she surprises me and starts to run those roots something fierce.

How often have you been giving her water? I ask because I usually splash a bit of water in there like every day to every other day till they take off a little. I like to ensure they are getting wet until the roots hit the res then i back off a bit. I guess i just would hate to see you pull her but i just have never liked killing plants if i don't have to i do prefer to let them make up their mind whether they wanna live or die lol i know im weird lol

Yeah, most of us feel like murderers if we pull one. To be honest, with all the plants I've grown I've only pulled two or three to date. I've been dribbling water around her every day. I remembered Tead sharing that thought too. The pictures of this little thing don't show you how poorly she's really doing. Her leaves have a bad tint to them, but she hasn't had anything decent to eat all this time, so we shouldn't be surprised.

Poor little thing deserved better than she got. She may surprise us yet. If she does, I may have to keep the hempies in the closet and plant the Industrial Plant I just dropped in LOS for one of the tents. Have you all noticed how I keep adding plants? WTH??? :laughtwo:

Ya it could be the lack of proper feed i do give mine very light nutes til they get established since its a inert medium. Well in the end you gotta do what you feel is best. I know you will get this down in no time you have an incredible drive when you commit to something and plenty of passion for learning.

I only started hempys with my over-grown juveniles in veg. I haven't tried hempys from scratch yet. But when I pop the freebies, I'm going to use the soil-less mix in solo cups, holes poked in the bottom. I figure this will get the babies used to the medium first, before I introduce them to hempys.

We cannot assume that hempy pots work for every strain, either. Some dont like wet feet.

At the very least, I will use the soil-less medium of perlite/vermiculite in both regular pots and hempys and do a long-term comparison.

I'm going to have to go back and find your 5:1 recipe. I may have blogged it already. Will check.

1 gm CCO + 5 ml coconut oil melted together over low, low heat. Bring a double boiler to boil and turn it off. Set the container with the oils in the water bath and wait until they begin to mix on their own. I find the handle of a stainless spoon or the tip of a wide butter knife works best for this. Strange, I know, but effective.

Add in 15 ml of liquid sunflower lecithin and 45 more ml of olive oil. Don't try to substitute dry lecithin. This liquid sunflower lecithin is the ingredient I believe makes the big difference. Mix completely. It may look mixed, but not be completely. I stir, wait to see if there're any separation, and stir again if ther is. You won't see the separation immediately. It'll form almost like a cloud in the mix, and you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it happen.

Cover and refrigerate overnight. This helps everything bond together. A very necessary step.

In the morning, bring to room temperature and fill the capsules. This recipe makes 76 capsules of the 00 size.

A word about the 5:1 capsules.

I consider this a recreational mix. It hits hard, it hits fast. I'm not exaggerating about this, and you need to be aware of it because you want to be somewhere safe when you try the first one. Then you'll know your limitations.

If you're using the BioBomb for medicinal purposes or with a new patient start with a 20:1 mix. The only thing that changes in the recipe is the initial amount of carrier oil. The 20:1 makes 96 capsules per gram of CCO, the 10:1 makes 86 capsules. These aren't typical cannabis meds and they aren't administered the same way either, so if you try them come and see me in the study hall and I'll give you the detailed instructions.

As a recreational 5:1 ratio you don't want to take more than 2 a day. Seriously. Even I don't break that rule with these. My trip to the airport on Sunday was a fluke. It won't be repeated.

So, do I have to re-read the whole CCO Study hall forum to find your method of making CCO? * bats eyelashes * I have mason jars full of powdered OGK leaf, trim and bud to make into something.

Well, let me help you out there.

SweetSue's Cannabis Oil Study Hall

The video is in the middle of this post. There are some instructions with it concerning improvements on her method. She doesn't winterize, and you want to.

Have fun. I love making oil. If I had Graytail's stash........... *whistful sigh*

Well..... if that's the EASIEST way(s) to make CCO, I'm screwed.

One method references another method, which means finding THAT method.... but wait! The poster referenced, doesn't agree with the lady's method, and SHE'S using Ricks oil. So that's THREE different, so-called easy methods. Then there's SUE's variations..... :trance:

Cooking and washing and separating 3 times is not easy.

It might be time to rework that post and have Mr. Teddy switch them out for me.

Sorry, my intent was to offer you a simple way. I followed the method ........ Well, to be honest, I watched her video, talked it over a little with cajuncelt and worked it out on my own. :laughtwo: I just remembered I posted my own method, didn't I? Hahaha! That's the post I should have referenced.

Ok, you have problems with the three washes? Do one wash and use the plant material for some other extraction method. Make butter with it. Most of the trichomes get ripped open during that first wash anyway.

Decarb in advance is a personal choice. You can just as easily decarb at the end by continuing on until you have no more bubbles. You'll need a heat source for that, something electric that you can keep below 250 degrees.

It went smoothly. Even more smoothly the second time. It's all in the preparation. A couple times through and it's old hat. The end result is worth the effort. Believe me, no one would pay for solvent if it wasn't.

The easiest method I know of to make oil for capsules is slow baked olive oil and the plant material. 36 hours at your lowest oven setting. Strain/filter/press until you get out all the oil you can, add lecithin, refrigerate overnight and fill the capsules. I read recently that it's supposed to be at least 12 hours in the fridge, but I'm not sure they didn't pull that out of the air. It couldn't hurt to follow that advice.

Are you concerned with controlling doses? That would require a bit of mental gymnastics I may not be up to right now, so I hope you are. :laughtwo:

when i get round to doing this (within the next week)even though all the info is here i will be stoned and i will have "stoner questions" LOL do dont go anywhere sweet !

19,022 posts - I don't think I'm going anywhere. :laughtwo: I'll be waiting.

3 AM and I'm calling it a night. I've decided these capsules are my new normal. Two a day and I'm where I want to be. I have one gram of oil left, made with Tikal. :slide: I'll be able to get 76 capsules out of that one gram of CCO. That's a month's supply, plus.

Yeah, I smiled too. :laughtwo:

I put 3/4 of my brownies in the freezer so they wouldn't go stale. :laughtwo:

Hey Sue; are you using rockwool cubes for your seeds for hempy? I'm looking them up, made from basalt and limestone... Could they be thrown into compost? Maybe ripped up first..
Plus, I'm thinking of accelerating the 'availability' of rock dust, eggshell, gypsum etc by mixing 50/50 with compost, adding some bennies and "cooking" for..however long.. Still a long term deal; alternatively maybe in outdoor mini-bins so the worms can get in there.. Just to make specialised amendments.. "Composted Calcium". "Composted Gypsum".. That sort of thing.. To go along with the plant extracts...
What do you think? Or is it all ultimately better off in the worm farm/compost heap...?

I think the brains that frequent the organic soil thread would be your best resource for both of these questions santb. I started that thread because I know very little about this wonderful soil I grow in and I figured they could teach me. What I wasn't counting on was becoming so active as a kinda triage nurse for patients and caregivers on the oil threads. Caught me a bit by surprise. So I've never had the time to study soils the way I should have. But then, I have those brains willing to help me in a pinch.

Ask them. They relish answering. :battingeyelashes:

Morning Sue....:high-five:

Good morning Duggan. Feeling a little better about my grow now? :hugs:

Have a great Saturday. :ciao:

Daily Update: Saturday, July 16, 2016

Good morning everyone.

Let's try this in the morning hours today. :laughtwo:

image14669.jpeg

No new growth. Her replacement will be ready to plant in the Rockwell cube later today.

image14670.jpeg

Dark Devil Auto (Day 26) Not much happening here yet. The myco population in this pot isn't established yet. That takes about three months to get them really active, so the first plant in starts slower than those that follow her. Still lots of time for growth. When her roots hit that reservoir look out! The scallions may help accelerate the development of the myco community. A gal can hope. :battingeyelashes:

Blow Mind Auto (Day 28) This plant's becoming great fun for me. She's looking more promising by the minute. I should train one of my Carnivals like this to compare the yield against one I train my standard "top once at around 12-14 inches" technique. I did some creative leaf tucking to get more light in there. I'm very happy with how this plant's progressing.

The Industrial Plant seed went into the box for the day. It should be ready before I go to bed at around 3 AM. :laughtwo: This one's a high CBD plant. I need to get the tents up next and get the Carnival's going. I'm gonna need a sativa replenishment.

It's refreshing to have the rest of the day free from gardening chores or documentation thereof. I should make this my habit again. I'm working on re-establishing my morning routine after letting it get away from me over the past year. Today I've already been energized by qi gong, refreshed with hydro therapy, medicated and I've finished my gardening chores and this update. Feeling pretty proud of myself right now. :blunt:

Thanks for checking in with me. I hope your weekend's off to a joyful start. Keep it that way. I insist. :laughtwo: Whew! Humidity and heat do a sharp uptick when the cloud cover moves away. It's close to time to close it up and turn the air on. Have a great one guys. Be careful in the heat.

:ciao:

Sounds like a wonderful time. Cripes! That's some good meat. Share the joy baby. :hugs:

Crazy week. A willow in the stream next to the house fell and I have been chainsawing, and I am just a bit too old to enjoy clearing a giant tree. This tree is almost 3 ft in diameter and my chainsaw only has a 16" bar. The good news is that I turned 3.5gms of huckleberry Kush into 0.8gms of the most flavorful Pineberry rosin. I have been squishing at 210F so the terps are just off the hook! If I was a millionaire I would send you a rosin press. Getting useable Meds in a few minutes time is crazy. Especially with BHO type yields. 0.8gm from 3.5 is 22%! Have a great day Sue!
