The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

GH is the standards in the industry. Most of them big time hydro grows, like lettuce and tomatoes. I started with GH flora then changed up, but ended up back with it. I use the 3 part GH flora, some and Kool Bloom ever now and then. Stuff is really cost effective. Keepem Green

Thanks Wood. I'm so out of my element with this approach, but I'm excited about the experience. I'm just completely lost here. The irony is that I chose LOS no-tills so I wouldn't have to do it like this. :laughtwo: COorganics would have thumped me for this experiment. lol!

I've been parroting from the beginning the line that LOS grows a finer product. Now I'll get to see if that's really the case.

GH Flora series is good for hydro and inexpensive...You can pick up pints of the Grow/Micro/Bloom for $25 for ALL THREE or, individually for about $25-$30 per gallon. Depending on how many hempy's and the size of the containers, the pints will likely be enough to get at least 2-4 plants through harvest.

That's what I use lol i would think it should last longer then 2-4 plants through harvest though cause ive had like roughly 20 plants go to harvest and the bottles aren't even half gone yet lol.

Thank you. I'll place the order right now. It should be here by the beginning of next week. Until then I think I'll use some comfrey. It certainly can't hurt and I have a bottle of the comfrey fertilizer sitting in the kitchen.

If your going with the flora 3 part you should pick up some gh calimagic your gonna want that too.

20 plants through harvest with the pint bottles??? :thedoubletake: Are you sure they aren't the gallon bottles??? ;)

You probably only will need to add the Cal-Mag if you're using RO water.

Had to go check lol i have the 1 quart bottles lol and your right calimagic would be for when using RO or distilled i have found that the micro just didn't have enough in it. I can't use my tap water on a good day it reads 427ppm and i have seen it go higher lol

Yeah, that sounds closer with the quart bottles! I might be a little low on the 2-4 estimate, but won't be that far off and was trying to provide a "safe" number. A lot will depend on how long the plants are vegged and the size of the hempy. My hempy SOG was in 2-L soda bottles with short veg, so obviously I could get a lot more plants through than if I was growing in 5-gallon buckets with longer veg.

Anytime you're using RO water you should always add Cal-Mag. I don't believe any of the nute providers (unless some have specific formulas for RO!) will have enough Cal-Mag to keep the plants healthy. I'm guessing because the plants need these in such small quantities that, if they were to include sufficient doses in the nutes, it would prevent anyone from using them WITH tap water without the risk of possible toxicity.

Should I also be checking ppm? That takes a special meter?

Mr. Krip, you're turning out to be a valuable member of my circle of friends. I can't thank you enough for being at my elbow as I acclimate myself to this new world of nutrients and testing everything. Your presence lends a calming atmosphere where I'd previously have panicked. :hugs:

I'm having my first tacking experience as we speak. I was playing around making some 5:1 BioBomb capsules and I had a small amount of CCO on the plunger of the empty syringe that was a little mixed with the coconut oil I'd drawn up to get the measurements correct, so I stuck it on my gums. Haven't swallowed now for almost half an hour. That's actually easier to do than I'd anticipated.

I know you're not supposed to swallow this, but I'm not going to waste good cannabinoids, so here goes.

People complain about the taste of their oil all the time. Mine tastes pretty good. This oil's made with Jack Herer. This was a very small tack, what one would expect to take the first time, and it was taken on impulse. I can't say I feel different, per say, although I do feel taller, of all things :laughtwo: and I feel more "present", if that makes any sense.

I've been wondering if regular capsules and/or tacking could have the effect of healing the scalp psoriasis from the inside out. I posted pictures in the Study Hall of the improvement my skin's shown since I started using the THC pain cream on the patches of psoriasis on my forehead. The patches on my feet are healing as well. These bits of healing don't confront the metabolic imbalance that's causing the outbreaks to begin with. Psoriasis is an inflammatory disorder.

The CBD capsules and more focus on a regular cannabinoid therapy beyond BioBomb brownies might serve me well here.

Dare I dream of clear skin, toes to crown?

5:1 BioBomb capsules

I had a mere .2 ml of Jack Herer CCO, to which I added 1 ml of coconut oil and heated to mix. This means heat the water bath to boiling and turn it off. Then wait, and swirl, and wait some more.

image14581.jpeg

image14583.jpeg

Add 3 ml of liquid sunflower lecithin and 9 ml of coconut oil. Mix thoroughly.

image14584.jpeg

Cover and refrigerate overnight. In the morning I'll bring it back to room temp and fill some capsules. Then I'll take one and see what happens.

Dont you just love science? :laughtwo:

Dont you just love science? :laughtwo:

I'm glad I can help!

The TDS meter is what you're referring to (sometimes called a "PPM Meter" or "EC Meter") and is a good tool to have in the kit whether you're growing in soil or hydro, but not really the most necessary and, if money is a concern, it's something that can wait.

The TDS meter will measure the "Total Dissolved Solids" and display the results as PPM (parts per million) or EC (electrical conductivity). Essentially, it's a measure of the amount of nutrients in your solution.

Note: Different meters use different conversion factors to convert EC to PPM, so be aware of your meter's conversion rate!

This can be useful for a number of things.

First, you can get a reading on what your water is BEFORE adding the nutes. RO and distilled water (and de-ionized) should all read ZERO or very close to zero on the TDS meter. Anything over (I think) 120 PPM is considered "hard water". More importantly, IF you're trying to feed at 400ppm (seedling dose!) and your water is at 120 PPM, you can only add 280 PPM of nutes AND you have NO idea what's in that mix of the 120 PPM to start.

This is why RO water is preferred by growers. It allows them to control the specific nutes and exact quantities that are given to the plants.

Many growers will try to push plants to their limits on the nutes and aren't happy unless there's some burnt tips showing the plants really couldn't have taken any more, so understanding exact PPM's are very important to them.

However, IMHO, if you just start by following the feeding directions on the bottle, you'll likely be fine. From there, read the plants. You'll know if they want more.

I was never a believer in trying to "force feed" nutes to a plant. The plant will uptake what it wants/needs and we just need to make sure what it needs is there. More than what it needs is fine, but I don't think will help. Too much more than what it needs will cause real problems!

So, when you get some extra money and want to play, splurge on the TDS meter. And, I've almost never seen those things last much more than a year or two. So, plan on replacing it, too! :cheesygrinsmiley:

hi Sue and everybody :)

Sorry for jumping in the nutes conversation with some off topic...but I can't PM yet.

Nice to see that " tomorrow is a new day start fresh" works on you too :)

Nice bunch of seeds you got there :)
saw them 2 pages back. Was it gift or you won them? I have entered too in free seed giveaway.. and I will just wait and hope :)

Would you mind giving me some details about the "Economic and Business of Cannabis" Is it an online course? if yes/ where?
I am taking this totally seriously and want to be ready when it is legal. Would you mind sharing some info with me?

This was the final class in a Cannabis Speakers Series offered free to the public by the University of Vermint. I missed the first two, the classes most relevant to my needs. They're offering a certification program for cannabis studies. I haven't gotten full info on the course load or particulars yet, but you should be able to contact them directly.

As legalization continues to sweep the world we should expect more of this educational approach to be offered by more and more institutions of higher learning.

The Industrial Plant was the ones I purchased. All the rest were freebies. :cheesygrinsmiley: Good luck in your free seed quest.

I feel like I've been neglecting you. Haven't been by in a while.

I'll take my biobomb in brownie form, thank you!

:yummy:

Reps+ for the science!!

Good morning Heirloom. :hugs: I thought our understanding was that we would go to you to spare you all the thread surfing. You must be feeling better if your ready to jump into this busy pool. :laughtwo:

I was getting ready to have a brownie and remembered I was doing capsules this morning. Cajun once shared that this mix of capsules will ' him and his concentrates buddies up. I have to test this out. :laughtwo:

The batch of brownies I have right now are my last that'll be made with Dark Devil Auto until I harvest next. They're so rich and moist I can't believe it.

An excellent summation of the issue!
I've not used my tds meter in like 2 years. It's surely dead, but it's presence really is just not needed at all. Don't get me wrong, I sometimes DO push my nute levels, but one can read a plant like a book when one is cloning copies.

hi
I am checking the university page as of now :) thanks
I like to be prepared for when it is time so I have energy for the "possibilities of going wrong" which always happens.

Hi Heirloom too :)

Finishing the job

I rolled out of bed and took the mix out of the refrigerator to get it to room temperature while I gathered supplies.

I'd finally received my capsule-filling jig. This made my life so much easier I giggled all the way through. :laughtwo:

I have a total of 14 capsules.

image14593.jpeg

I took one at 10:45. I'm jumping in the shower now. If I'm not flying by the time I come out I'll take another. I can actually feel it beginning to creep as I type.

Later guys. :ciao:

One of the jobs you don't often think about. Pots have to be washed between use.

image14587.jpeg

With the HB kit pots it's a simple matter of beat the dirt out and toss in the washer. The LOS pots aren't quite that easy. They require some serious rubbing to loosen material that sticks to the interior of the pot, and they have residue buil-up on the exterior that isn't worth the time to fight to get it all off. They also get tossed into the washer. They come out reasonably clean, just with lots of tiny root pieces imbedded in the fabric. :laughtwo:

These four pots took me about an hour to get clean enough to put in my washer. I'm quite pleased with the end result. That build-up on the exterior is inconsequential to me.

5:1 BioBomb Capsule Update

Its been 2 1/2 hours since I took the capsule. My intention was to follow with a second if it wasn't effective. In that interim I made a couple trips to the post office to mail packages to my brother who we just relocated to Texas. I had no time to climb back up the 40 steps to the apartment, so I haven't had a second one yet. Thankfully, that was unnecessary. I'm not soaring over the Andes or anything, but Damn!! I'm certainly high. I'm at least as high as one of the brownies gets me, and that's a substantial buzz.

All that from one capsule. Shall we see what happens if I now take another? Do we even need to ask? :laughtwo:
