The Munki's Playground

I was thinking of flipping to 12/12 tomorrow. Does anyone see a reason not to at this point?

Day 35/45. Not so much a "day" really, but more of an event. I unplugged the timer preventing the light cycle from happening today. OK, so the lights went off at 1 PM today and will the Flower lighting will come on at 7 PM tomorrow giving 30 hours of darkness.

Therefore, day 35/45 of veg = Day zero of flower for these 5 plants.

I'm considering starting a separate journal for the flowering and then keep any cloning and mother searching here in this thread.

Again, feel free to share any thoughts that come about from reading this. I love exploring ideas and learning new things! :thankyou:

Your plants are looking super healthy Munki! Looks like a perfect time to throw the switch. :thumb:

The "day of darkness" really seems to give them the message that change is in the air. On my next grow, I'm going to give more thought to the timing of things before starting an 18/6 veg cycle. I wanted to give them 30 hours of darkness before flowering, but it would have made their 12/12 hours really odd (for me - they probably don't care too much!).

Do you also ascribe to the theory of giving the plants an extended period of darkness just before harvesting?

I've never heard of giving them a day of darkness. I always thought just simply switching to 12/12 was sufficient. I will surely try that this time around! :riskybusiness:

I did so with my 3 x 3 ScrOG and that product was quite good. Maybe it helped and maybe not, but I feel it can help trigger the plant to either flower or finish. Works well with my timing. I was taught to always have the plants wake up at the same time each day for their whole lives. I picked 7 PM this time. Running over the night is good as it is low demand time and cooler while I have the lights off during the hottest part of the afternoon.

Took some cuttings from the three bagseed plants today.

Day 43/53 (1 week flowering complete). 4 out of 5 plants confirmed female; only Satori 1 is unknown.

Just confirmed today that Satori 1 is female so all 5 regular seeds turned out to be female. Wow!

Here are pics of the clones. Blueberry Wowie cuts are the ones that appear to have chlorosis but are stealing magnesium from those leaves. The other strains don't seem to do this as vigorously. Some of the Ogre cuts in the perlite have perfect color. It's like they were never cut from their roots at all.

I just removed the humidity dome from the clones. I'll check back this afternoon to see how they hold up. It has been cool today and being home gives me a chance to test their "legs" out a bit. ;)

The yellowing seen in yesterday's photo is much more pronounced this morning. It appears that the Blueberry Wowie is potentially an easy cloning strain. With more intense supercropping, the plant may have potential to be a mother. It is flowering quicker than the others so far and it has maintained a narrow footprint with branches staying pretty close to the main stalk. The thicker than average stem diameter on B. Wowie lends to that trait. Possible SOG candidate. Good if Prop 19 passes with square footage of grow space trumping plant counts.

SOG can be a more efficient growing method so I hope I get to explore the method in the future.

I may have missed it but how did you end up advancing the concentration of your Lucas Formula. They say the plants will tell you what you need but I'm starting my first grow, so it's unlikely they are going to tell me much.

I wanted to tie it to something organic with the plants, not time so I was thinking internodes, 2 to the power of 0,1,2 and 3 (1st, 2nd, 4th and 8th internode). Starting at quarter-strength as you did and advancing by quarter-strengths: that would bring me to full strength. And then we would be near transplant time.

Looking back what are your thoughts. Being naive I want to be gentle.
