The Joy Of Growing - SweetSue Goes Perpetual

Awwww.... This is sad. Every one of us can only hope we have someone like you to hold our hand at the end Sue. What more is there to want then, really?

Awww Weaselcracker, you always manage to move my heart.

And may I say what a satisfying feeling it is to come onto my journal in the morning and find all this wonderful educational conversation going on while I slept.

This was a mini tutorial on growing roots. The point couldn't be clearer. Graytail, I love the way you never miss a step and just throw the photographic evidence in our faces. Those pictures were worth a thousand words +. Thank you also Doc. I hear you loud and clear. Watch how fast I catch on to this once all this is over.

Just to be clear ...

I don't doubt that fabric pots have their advantages - just showing that plastic gets a bum rap. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Don't be confused about the definition of an argument.

"In logic and philosophy, an argument is a series of statements typically used to persuade someone of something or to present reasons for accepting a conclusion."

It's a beautiful thing. Arguments don't just happen between husband and wife. It's what makes us smarter and open to new views

I agree! My daughter was the state debate champ and did very well at nationals....arguing.

I was referring to what happened when Graytail posted his root pics. I'll pop out a rootball today and take a picture so in case there are any doubters they can see that fine root hairs are the goal and that they are easily achievable with basic gardening skills.

That's good news, if you ask me.

Whoa! Super speedy high. I ate a double dose, since Dale's portion obviously isn't going to him. So glad I ordered another of these seeds. Maybe next time order more than one. Wow!

I grew only from seed for a few years. It was great! I learned so much.

But when you find your favorites, propagating some cuttings is super cool, cuz you can enjoy them as long as you wish, grow after grow.

It seems that many growers use mostly cuttings, but I think a good balance between the two is a great idea for development of skills and especially for long term preservation of genetics.

Somewhere along the line we'll have to have a deeper conversation about this balance you allude to.

Sue , my thoughts are with you during this time with Dale.....It would be so nice if you two could make eye contact and kiss one more time....tears girl.... Duggs.

We actually did that Duggan, and it made me cry to remember that. Don't feel bad. You have to ride grief out, and it's hard not to recover when he pulled that off.

I took care of some legal matters and when I returned he was under, but obviously cleaned and glommed, all new clean sheets. I sat and just held his hand for a while until a nurse came in to get the untouched food tray. Suddenly he opened his eyes, adjusted his oxygen tube and turned to look directly at me. He asked where I'd been, I told him, he nodded in approval and I leaned in for a kiss.

It's a customary thing: exchanged "I love you"s while looking directly into the eyes (hard, fast, unbreakable rule), followed by three kisses in succession, each one more passionate than the last. There's always a little grin on our faces after that, and today was no exception. Haha!

And then he drifted right back under as I rubbed his arms so they'd relax. It's part of the kidney failure, but you can see it's bothersome.

If he doesn't come back up again, I have that. Life is pretty damn sweet sometimes, you know?

:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:Sue, you're a strong woman.

Doc & Graytail,

It's not just on the boards here.

The Growers and nurseries may know how to repot including the final repot into outdoor soil but THEY DO NOT give these kind of instructions to consumers. In case you need a refresher, look at the tag on a rose bush or other publically sold plant and you will see how their instructions differ.

To be clear: I am not saying you are wrong.
I am saying that the consumer is given instructions that are convenient for the sellers to give.
Why?
Probably they don't have the patince of Doc Bud explaining the same thing over and over on his threads because it was not posted in the 4 previous posts so the newest poster on the block asks the same question that has been asked and answered 20 times in 40 days. For years now.

And you know what makes it more difficult - Hydro style roots and hydro style grows have a pretty good quantity of yield. - So they do fit certain growing agendas.

The info you get from plant sellers fits an agenda, but it isn't often the agenda of good growing of plants in ground.

The hard part on these boards is to navigate all the options and make a good choice.

And that isn't easy, in his books Jorge Cervantes encourages sea of green growing: small plants grown quickly in small pots. - Yet pictures from last summer of his Colorado grow show him growing monster plants in monster pots. And I don't want to get into a personal attack on J.C., but what the ???? is a new grower to do in this marketplace that seems to lack integrity.

Sue, I can hardly imagine how you must feel today, but you're an inspiration. Your customs may have to change now, but you're taking on this life changing transition so admirably anyways. I look up to you so much and I'm so sad for you today. Stay strong.. as if I have to say so, you've got callanetics on your side after all..

Your reply to Duggan made me cry. That's a beautiful moment you had. I'm so glad you got that. :)

He's giving his body to science.. somehow, that totally fits the profile I had in mind of Dale. I don't think I'm speaking for myself when I say we can't help but all feel like we know Dale in a way after reading about him.. you write about him with the power of a soul mate and share the specialness of your relationship with us all the time, and they're only tiny glimpses of all the joy you must have had with him every day. I can only imagine. Think about all those good memories today and try not to be sad. :hugs: Sending all my love your way.

You guys warm my heart. I'm just doing what comes naturally to me. In the end his life was a celebration of love and an expression of the joy that came from that love. I am amazingly calm waiting for him to stop breathing. I watched my mother do this for three days when she passed. I'm just staying close, just being here.

He's come out a couple times, for no longer than a couple moments. It's so peaceful here that I keep nodding off in the middle of reading or posting and waking up moments to an hour later. LOL! When the dust from this settles I think I'll do nothing but sleep for a couple days.

I'm at a loss for what to say, Sue. I often find that these moments are sometimes best not tainted with words...just focusing on the emotion until it passes. Hearing about others in situations such as yours makes me appreciate the love of my life even more. So, thank you for being so candid and open with all of us. It provides us, yet again, with another lesson in which we see that life is precious and ever changing. Stay strong Sue...though I'm sure you will have no problem with that!

I'm going to go hug my lady now. :)

morning Sue

I've haven't been keeping up with all that is happening in here. I'm so sorry to read here of the situation u and Dale are in now...((hug))

prayers and good vibs on the way, for you Dale and family...

be well

Daily Update: Perpetual Tent - Week 6

It was so good to be home, no matter how briefly. I started off setting the oven to bake some buds. I need to be able to get through this experience and being medicated certainly helps with stress levels. I don't plan in leaving his side for at least two days now.

Then I couldn't contain the excitement any more and headed to the tent. :laughtwo:

Hello!! Look at this Cheese Candy.

Quite a bit of growth in the last week.

The kit youngsters are still doing well. Neglect becomes them.

I pulled them out to get some pictures in natural light. The Auto Jock Horror x Auto Amnesia: Day 37

I think, all things considered, these three are beginning to look like they have some excitement to share with us. I assure you, I'll do my best to facilitate that. When I get into my next run we're going to laugh at how sad these looked at this stage. :laughtwo: This run though, we're going to look at them as miracle children, that they could survive this event and still end up doing well.

I glanced up under the lights one last time and noticed TRICHOMES!!!!

Well that was nice to see, eh? :laughtwo:

One last peek before I close it up.

The only maintenance today was topping off the LOS SWICKs. Thank goodness because I'm just beat and needed to simply stretch out on my own bed for a while. That felt blissfully good. Now, back to hospice.

Have yourselves a wonderful day. Fill it up to overflowing with joyful moments. I'll be doing my best to brighten up our corner of paradise as my day progresses. I think I'll play around with some writing to kill the time.

Dale came up for air a bit ago, here, but confused and very twitchy. He's drifting in and out again after the meds. It's going to be a while longer. Sticking close.

:Namaste:

It seems they've been busy while you were gone.
They are lookin' great!

Thank you Major. Once I pulled them out and got them into some natural light I was impressed. Now, let's see them explode with blossoms and I'll be happier. :laughtwo:
