Daily Update: Perpetual Tent - Week 6
It's been an exciting morning in the Perpetual Tent. Yesterday's schedule meant no gardener in the tent until lights on at 5 AM this morning, so I started the day by giving the kit plants their DeStress foliar at lights on and went back to bed. Waking up at 7, I set up the GE/Tea drenches.
Maintenance Notes:
- DeStress foliar for HB kit plants.
- Growth Energy/Tea Drench for HB kit pots. I'm using .5 ml Growth Energy and about .15 ml Tea per pot. From this point on I'll be doing them as drenches instead of soaks/drenches, because all three plants now have roots into the perlite and I don't want to stress them any more by disturbing those roots. You'll see proof of that in the photos below.
- the New Year's Bag Seed turned out to be male and has been culled.
- All reservoirs were topped off. My plan from this point on is to fill the SWICK tray reservoir on the day of the first drench and leave it to dry out for a week before filling it again. It was pretty dry this morning. I'll do that until I'm satisfied that we have decent roots built up and then keep the reservoir filled from then on. This tent doesn't do the veg to flowering stages like conventional grow spaces do, so we have to kind of play it by ear.
My intent until Dale passes and things settle is to simply keep everyone alive and try to let them know that my neglect shouldn't deter their drive to perfection.
So let's take a stroll through the tent, shall we?
The Cheese Candy, at 35 days is now 15" tall. She's shooting up like mad, isn't she?
Leaves are a fair size. Looking at this picture gave me pause. Dale's so swollen with extra fluid now that we had to remove his wedding ring, and without thinking about it I slipped it on under my own. It feels natural there, so I'll probably wear it until that time when I decide not to any longer. I can't see such a day ever coming. Today I'm being hit by waves of grief that I won't have him to shower all this passion on much longer. I'm just letting those moments roll through. I'll survive this.
Pretty flowers. I love watching these fill out the stem. WooHoo!!
The young plants. When I looked under here first I spotted the Bag Seed (second one back) and thought "Oh, that's what a thirsty plant looks like." This picture was after the foliar spray but before drenches.
Auto Jock Horror x Auto Amnesia: Day 33
She's lanky, but we're going to work with that, because I can't be bothered right now with anything other than helping her survive to harvest. She has a sweet perfume beginning to fill her personal space. A very delightful smell that made me smile when I caught it.
Auto Destroyer: Day 35 and beginning to spurt out all over. I was half asleep when I reset them after the foliar, so when I got to them for the drench this one was right up against the light. I don't think it damaged the plant. I'll take a closer look either tomorrow or Thursday morning when I do the next Brix foliar. I may not get home before lights out tomorrow. Looking at this picture it appears I may have singed it a bit. That could work to my benefit. Let's wait and see.
African Buzz: Day 34 and beginning to look like a real contender. This one picked up a super energy over the past two days. It was the one to call to me when I first stepped into the tent. I found myself looking at it and wondering if, since the entire grow got flipped onto its side with Dale dying, maybe I should give it another week under these lights and drop it into a 7 gallon to sit next to the LOS pot under the Dorm Grow until I have a bigger light and let it rip. It's pure sativa and I'd like to see what it can do in a bigger pot.
I considered up potting after seeing these roots, the strongest roots of the remaining three pots, making it an excellent candidate for transplant into something bigger, IMHO. All three have vigorous root development going on. The African Buzz just has the heartiest of them all. I'm still considering my options. It would only have about 5-6 weeks left until harvest, but that should be long enough to create some exciting buds. If I do that it will be on Sunday.
My daughter just called. This plant is no longer part of the community. Whew! Almost missed that.
We're down to 4 plants in the tent now. Four is one of my perfect numbers (along with 7 - I have no explanation as to why I think that, just that I always have), and I'm ok with that. I'm fairly certain I can keep this many alive.
It's a beautiful day here in our little slice of paradise - lots of dramatic cloud cover and sunshine pouring in. Terribly humid with all the rainfall we've had recently, but I'm enjoying it from inside an air-conditioned room, so I'm not bothered by that. I hope this post finds you and yours happy and healthy. Get out out there and spread that joy. Light up your part of paradise. I'm going to take a nap. Sitting in this quiet room is so relaxing I fell asleep three times writing this update. Haha, just woke up again. I can't believe I'm this tired and still functioning.
See you in the threads.
