The Joy Of Growing - SweetSue Goes Perpetual

image3816.jpeg

Has it been snowing there too?

My first grow was in the closet, with no door and no filtration system. I ran with CFLs exclusively and they were both autos, so it didn't matter that it was all wide open. When they got stinky I was in heaven. The smell of ripening cannabis will always be the smell of home to me. It was an automatic mental orientation. Some of my happiest memories are of opening the front door and stepping into that sweet perfume.

It frustrates me to open my tent and have a filtration system that works so well I can't smell anything without sticking my nose into it. Does that make me too weird? In a more perfect world we'd be free to live with the perfumes.

:) I feel the same way about the smell of growing cannabis! What an amazing scent, and I've only grown one strain. Can't wait to get to know the scents of many different strains and phenos.

We live in a culture which is pretty ambivalent about smells -- as a society we spend a lot of time and energy deodorizing, neutralizing and disguising a range of perfectly normal and very interesting smells. Shame.

I've spent my entire adult life avoiding those scented products that assault the senses. I use unscented everything. LOL! Not afraid of the smell of living, thank you.

I love the smell of approaching harvest. :battingeyelashes: You have much more bud washing ahead than I do though. I noticed you use gloves. I don't know that I could stand wearing them, but it seems such a reasonable idea. I'll have to try.

:Namaste:

For the most part I wear the food grade plastic gloves initially, then switch to the more fitted gloves. I find that trying to get that stuff off my fingernails is the toughest part and I hate putting stuff on my hands like nail polish remover etc. to remove it. That stuff soaks into your body....what does it do in there? Scary to me. LOL

I just checked on the two that need chopping, I'm forced to get this done tomorrow without fail!

:circle-of-love:

Actually the acetone isn't all that bad. It's not all that good either lol, but the body can process it through. The other crud in nail polish remover might worry me more. You can make a good hash oil with acetone. For getting the gummies off I use 99% Iso Alcohol.

I like to have my trimmers wear purple nitrile gloves. Scraping the gloves with a nickle or other metal object yields a lovely smokable ball of finger hash. My best result was pea sized ball from 3 oz of harvest.

LoL! I love the smell of ripe buds. Especially when it hits u like a ton of bricks. Call me wierd, but I love it when you just get done trimming, and the smell of fresh bud lingers on your clothes for the rest of the day. Congrats on the many plants you've harvested Sue. They all look so good. I'm excited about carnival. It looks spectacular. Can't wait for the smoke report on that one. Joyful times in the life of SweetSue. Take care Sue! See you around the yards.

:high-five: LOL. I like to make a run to the grocery store after I've finished trimming. :laughtwo: Something about the image of a grizzled old fart passing you in the aisle along with a good strong shot of freshly trimmed cannabis cologne - dunno, it appeals to me. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Old farts FTW! :fistbump: :cheesygrinsmiley:

:fistbump: Hahaha!!!

Ditto Graytail. I used to trim for these guys and to keep their location a secret, they would pick us up at a mall parking lot. About 30 of us would jump in the back of a uhaul, and end up at a warehouse trimming all day. When the day would be over, I would make it a point to walk through Macy's to see how many people I could offend. Good Times.

A Day Of Drenches

Every kit plant in here will get drenched today, including a number of CAT drenches. Coming down to the wire now. Whew! Getting a wee bit nervous. :laughtwo:

Carnival is first up.

Hello Sue and fellow growers, have you all guys voted in the member of the month contest already?

Wow! I was just thinking about you, to turn around and find you here! :laughtwo: :hugs:

Thanks for the reminder, my friend. All's well?

Priceless. OK, I have to admit to getting completely wasted and headed out to see how many people catch the lingering scent and stop to wonder. LOL! Of course, in my neighborhood it's expected that you're buzzed.

We're just old kids at heart, aren't we?

Oops.... Forgot my brownie!

Morning Susan and friends!

A little update on my cannabis companion

image3839.jpeg

it's like reading a book and having to wait a year for the sequel lol. i wonder what it is..

Easy one, and I'm surprised B A R didn't jump in yet. :laughtwo: He must be busy this morning. That, my friends is a fortuitous spontaneous germination of one of the most beneficial companion planting seeds for cannabis, the importance of which was determined by our own aforementioned B A R. Pigeons, if my guess is correct, your stow-along is Lamb's Quarters. I'll be surprised if it turns out to be anything else. At this stage it's a distinct look. Check with Reg to be certain, though.

Morning, Sue! Hope your drenches go well. Love the Carnival -- what a pretty lady!

Just finished the last one at 1:30, and the uploading of photos has begun. Posting will ensue soon. I'm going to swing through Supergroomer's first though.

Good to see you this morning dear. Wonderfully stoned today are we? A first harvest will do that to you. :blunt: :laughtwo: One of the greatest delights of participating in this marvelous neighborhood 420 maintains for us is the opportunity we get to be part of each other's harvests. Have you noticed they tend to run in waves? We have moments in time when we're running from one to the other, having the time of our lives, and everyone's walking around in "real space" with these stupid grins on our faces, laughing delightedly at posts we're chasing on our mobile devices.

What a sweet life. Before I go back to the delicious work of creating the posts I want to take a moment to encourage you to let go and love. Stop being so afraid of what might happen "if" and grab "now". Have you any idea how fleeting life can really be? Yeah, I thought you might. Some risk is necessary to live a fulfilling life.

Wow! Sometimes, when these things tumble out they catch me off guard and make me pause. We'll just leave that there because it occurs to me someone out there other than me needed to read it. See? Moments like this I begin to think you guys are going to write me off as a space case. To be honest, that one threw me, because I've a reputation for being beyond vulnerable, willing to jump right in both feet first and blindfolded, so I'm pretty sure that wasn't for me. I was actually going somewhere completely different and that stopped me dead for almost a minute before it wrote itself. Whoever you are, I'd pay attention.

I was so lucky to meet Dale, although I don't think luck had anything to do with it. I think it was destiny. There are many of you reading this who can identify completely with that. Quite frankly, it's one of the reasons I feel so comfortable here. We're a fairly stable community of reasonably happy people. Thank you for choosing to be my neighbor.

And whomever that earlier message was for, my personal thought is that loving is always worth it. Always. Life is too short. I know that first hand.

*Sniff* Ok, then, I'm going back to posting now.

The youngest Dark Devil Auto got the call to be up first. Can you believe she's 59 days old?

She measures 4" high. :laughtwo: face it - these tiny pots are an art project I drag you guys through as we celebrate the occasional likes of Carnival. Hahaha! It's ok guys, I'm good with it. I'm having fun, and no one gets hurt.

You notice she's frosting up? Small but mighty. Which reminds me, it's a Callanetics day. :woohoo: I'll be in and out. Working for more flow and movement. Thanks for stopping, and have a wonderful day. :hugs: :green_heart:

Yes, I did have a brownie. That obvious, huh? Feel the love. :laughtwo:

Carnival (Day 129)

I'm more excited by the minute with her. Today she got her second CAT drench. When you stroll, feel free to laugh at how frosty she is already. :yahoo:
