The Joy Of Growing - SweetSue Goes Perpetual

Good Morning everyone

Started my day with another of those Bangin' Brownies made with the White Widow. Just a warning guys. :laughtwo: I'm already floating down the hallway and oozing love all over the tent this morning.

Think of the irony: I live alone.

Hey, weren't we playing with some buds a couple days ago?

Adventures in Backbuilding the Buds

Its not been long enough to see much difference, but let's look anyway.

We'll look again on Friday. Pretty, aren't they? I'm happy. I'm stoned, so I'd be happy anyway, LOL! But this plant, I'm really happy with. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Looking great Sue, I will be sad to see you finish!

That's so sweet ShiggityFlip. :battingeyelashes: I'll be all over the site and I know me - I'll have a Holiday/Vacation thread up while I'm gone. Christmas cookies, Indian Flatbread making, crafty ornament ideas for kids, The Grand Canyon!!!!! Vegas Baby!!! How can I not check in every day and share the excitement? I plan to do some hiking while I'm there too. The weather should be perfect.

I'll be honest though, I'll sure miss this.

Let it Snow, let it snow, let it snow

DeLahaze is now at Day 100 and just over a month past her CAT drenches. I'll have more pictures later. These just got me all excited.

Nebula is at Day 84, two days past her first CAT drench.

Original Bubblegum, at Day 70, is getting an Energy next to set up for the following CATs. We're running a gauntlet here.

I'm gonna run it as long as I possibly can. I was pretty stoked to realize I'd left that DeLahaze alone for over a month since the CAT drenches began. I must be improving. :blunt:

Morning Sue!

Morning Cajun. :hugs: Working today or taking time off? Do you ever really get time off? I hadn't thought of that. Surely you get vacation and holidays, but won't that drive you crazy having someone else responsible for your plants? Or do you plan vacations around down times?

Whoops, fell into 3-year-old mode there. Hahaha! It's such a new industry and we're all curious as hell. Feel free to ignore or answer as you please, but by all means, have a wonderful day mom ami. :kisstwo:

Thanks. Tiny though. Next grow I have to improve on those tiny pot yields.

it's not the size of the tiny pot yield that matters.. it's how you use it. at least that's what the guys with tiny pot yields say.. :blunt:

i kinda like small. my stuff is always getting too big too fast.. ok. it's getting weird now..

hey look at that flower!

A Closer Look at DeLahaze (Day100)

One more drench and then she dries out for harvest. It's been just over a month since her CAT drenches.

Gee Sue, they are all so lovely hard to say which one I like best
I need to do a little reading and catch up on that bud building technique. It sounds interesting.

Light Addict can fill you in and answer any questions you might have about it. I'm not convinced that it increases the weight of the bud, but it certainly shapes the buds in the most pleasing manner.

Does that work? I thought THC wasn't water soluble and required a fat or alcohol extraction?

I've been thinking about this all day, waiting for the time when I'd be having that cup of stem tea. I had that cup at 5 this evening, so it's been half an hour since I finished it.

image3702.jpeg

Atulip is right, THC isn't water solvable, so what's going on here? Because there's no denying that I'm feeling the effects of the THC when I drink the tea. Then, as I was absentlymindedly preparing the evening drink, I realized what I was doing with the tea ball, vigorously dunking it up and down, for about a minute total time.

image3703.jpeg

If your brain took the path mine did you envisioned all those trichomes breaking free and falling into the liquid, which I promptly guzzled right down. That may be the explaination. Any thoughts on the matter?

This isn't as intense a buzz as the brownies, obviously, but there's definately a zip factor, with that slightly edgy sativa effect some people find disconcerting and SweetSue absolutely loves. :laughtwo:

I've also noticed a consistent relaxing, almost sleep-inducing effect that's hit about 40 minutes in with each cup I've had. Something to keep in mind. And before you go there - I just don't sleep, so it gives me that moment of "gee, sleep sounds tempting" and then my brain wakes right up like a small child fighting the nap. :laughtwo:

Right now, I'm majorly buzzed, and my brownie dose was somewhere around 10 AM, so we know it's not entirely due to that. I have to assume the tea contributed to this. There's no other explaination.

I did some reading on the interweb today about this and find the same "not water soluble" tune being sung. It was on the internet so it has to be true. Right?

Then I brewed another tea to see if I was having some placebo affect. You see I did the same thing with my coffee filter full of sticks. I dunked it and dunked it and watched the water turning slightly greenish brown. I'm convinced that the tea is soothing to me like most other teas. I'm convinced it had a "heady" effect. I am also convinced I screwed my own experiment up by smoking a bowl about 10 minutes after finishing the tea.

I regret that it was my last batch of sticks. It's just good tea.

I did a bit of reading and found the water solubility of THC is 2.8mg/L(According to wikipedia), so there is a small amount in the water. Any milk or cream added to the tea would also give the THC something to bond to. Another theory is simply the inhalation of vaporized THC if the waters hot enough(315℉), though it would have to heat up considerably hotter than the boiling water.(possible if it breaks down and makes it to the bottom of the pot on the stove maybe?) I believe some other cannabinoid have a lower boiling point.

Other cannabinoids are listed as insoluble in water or have no mention of water solubility(thcv(which should be all converted to THC during decarb), CBD, cbn, cbc)

My final theory would be fatty lipids in the plant material itself bonding to the THC and "floating" in the water waiting for digestion.

Take all this with a grain of salt though. I'm not a scientist, I just play one on the internet.

 Well done Jim.

Carnival (Day 126)

I'm going to let her speak for herself. Did you see her smile? :laughtwo:

I still have a couple more little posts to pull together, but I wanted to pause for a moment and encourage you to look for the joy in those moments that you find most challenging today. I've been having a difficult time with the lead-in to Thanksgiving. I've had my share of pure panic moments and more than my share of tears today as I struggle to come to grips with the reality of celebrations without my soulmate by my side. I know these first few will be the hardest. I really wasn't prepared for how hard that would be.

But I recognize that it's my choice to cry so freely. And it occured to me that hidden in this grief is the joy that the only reason it hurts this bad was because for 35 years it was that good. From that moment of self awareness the joy sprang forth like a fountain. So now I'm still crying, but the joyful tears will stop and I can get on with things.

There was lots of potential in this grief event to become maudlin.... :laughtwo: ..... I'm sorry, I can't even pretend to go there. :laughtwo: To be honest, we're talking about me, and I knew when it started this evening I'd force the hand and get through it to joy before I got to my meditation session. Long way around to this point:

Life is a series of choices. You get to choose. I don't know about you, but in the end, 100% of the time, regardless of external circumstances, I'm going to choose the path that allows me the greatest chance to love and be loved. Go ahead and challenge me. I'm gonna make it happen anyway. Not only survive but thrive and do it with joy.

What a ride it's been, huh? We call this a grow journal right? Well, I guess that's what I'm doing. :battingeyelashes:

What a relief I'm growing in a safe place. Whew! :laughtwo: Get out there guys. Spread that joy.

Just a wee bit more to go. You guys are so patient

OH ya!! Just how ya suppose your gonna do that? EH....EH....:blunt:

My best bet may be fluxing. Regardless of the chosen techniques - and they should be plant specific - each and every tiny pot from this point out should be subjected to some sort of LST. Given the size constraints I'm going to be dealing with, it'd be a waste of resources to do it any other way, don't you think?

I agree Duggan, bigger pots. That's not always an option. I probably won't be able to handle more than two crated ten gallon pots in the cabinet I plan to put up for my next grow. Some day though, I want a BIG space to grow in. Just once. :laughtwo: Can you imagine? .... Geez, I can, and it's sweet. :battingeyelashes:

You do that with style Atulip. :laughtwo: Thank you so much for chasing that down. :hugs: My conclusion as well. They were suspended in the liquid and I drank that straight down. Very akin to the kick I get from licking the pot after brownies, come to think of it. :battingeyelashes:
