The Joy Of Growing - SweetSue Goes Perpetual

PS. Pretty amazing grows going on here. I am in envy as I am restricted to the outdoors. Someday I too may become an indoor gardener.

That's funny. I'm in envy of you, as I'm restricted to the indoors. Someday I too may become an outdoor gardener. :)

I just threw a major wrench into my garden, and I haven't considered all the possibilities yet, but my best friend just purchased a ticket for me to spend a month, and the major holidays in Phoenix. I'll be leaving Dec 11 and not return until Mid-Jan. I couldn't be more excited about the visit - we haven't held each other since 2008 (?). Wow! So long I can't remember the date, but I sure remember the feel of that woman's arms and it's been waaaay too many years!

But a month - what was I thinking? I was thinking that the potential loss of some plants coming into harvest may not be such a high price to pay for time spent with someone I love this deeply.

Right now I'm thinking flip these plants in my tiny closet ASAP. Who agrees with me? It's going to mean some additional CFLs in there to get some light balance and a complete reorginazition of the space and OMG - I'm actually going to visit the part of my family I chose with my heart. I think I'm gonna jump right out of my skin here! :slide:

We're gonna have to brainstorm.

We gotta figure out how to speed these guys up.

image1266.jpeg

You'd have been proud of me guys. I didn't hesitate a moment when she offered. I told her to pick the dates and the duration and I'll be there with bells on. It's the week after my birthday (oh wow! I'll finally get my own carrot cake!!:yahoo: ) and both major celebrations with one of the most important people in my life. I'd have married this woman if we weren't heterosexual. Hell, I considered it anyway, more than once, but I'm fairly certain her husband might have been unhappy about that. :laughtwo:

It means I finally get to run a continuous Callanetics class and gift that to every one of them. That's been a long time pulling off, but I started that visualization about a year ago and haven't let it go. Today it manifested. To those of you that I've given this warning to, heads up ----- SweetSue really does know how to move heaven and earth.

That was never meant to be a flip comment. You should listen to me. The impossible, the inconceivable, the totally improbable events you know for sure I can't make happen? This was your demonstration that I meant it. Just sayin'. :battingeyelashes: :laughtwo:

Flip them, Dear!

I believe that's the right choice and the sooner the better. You already know that the plants won't survive for 30 days without some intervention. So the sooner you get these next 10 weeks out of the way the better. Then you can even take some of your work to share with your friend!

What's tough decision, especially when we're not ready to put them into flower. But, I know you know this is the right choice. A little bit of bud from a girl pushed to flower too early is better than no bud at all cause they went 30 days with no love.

Spend today getting them ready and I bet you could even see some of them done before you go at the end of Dec. You might have a coupe of glass jars in your purse

I know you'll make the right choice. We're here for you!

 MUAH

Oh yea!

Forgot to mention how excited I am go you! You deserve a break girl! And go spend some time with people you love and care about. Aside from the herb, this is the best form of medication, love and embrace.

I'm happy for you and I know that this will be a great way for you to spend the holiday!

Love ya, Girl!

Flip everything now, harvest what you can before you go, and start anew once back.

Agreed! Flip them indeed!

My thoughts exactly. I'll flip today or tomorrow and plan to have the tent broken down and plants hanging before I leave. If I get it done now I'll salvage most of the harvest.

Thanks guys. :battingeyelashes: Sooooo excited!!! :slide:

:yahoo: We keep calling each other and laughing. I have NEVER spent the holidays with her, and she does Martha Stewart - quality celebrations with a standing rack of prime rib for Christmas. Christmas Crafts Day with her grandchildren - Christmas with grandchildren - what a wonderous gift. Planning a trip to Tombstone, maybe Four Corners. Maybe she'll convince me to relocate further west. Someplace legal. Look how close Colorado is. Arizona's legal too but those 115 degree days in Phoenix are a bit off-putting.

Think my daughter's going to be surprised, but that won't slow me down a step. This is for me and that woman I need to hold again. We decided today that we don't wait 7 years again. It shocked us to realize how long he'd been so sick that I couldn't get away. Look at that! Life just threw itself into my arms. :laughtwo:  I like it when I let the Universe do wonderful things in my life.

Come to think of it Zig I thought she was under one of those unorthodox light schedules as well.

Right Weasel! I guess it always looks greener on the other side of the fence.

Love always seems to find us when we're not looking!

Did I read that right?

Too many years there for sure. Live it up girl!

sue aren't you growing under 11/13 already?
if not flip to 11/13...im 10/14 ..:)

Good point! She's growing autos, too. Maybe all that can be done has already happened.

Morning Sue.
Kinda chilly this morning. Good grief it's only October. I might be in trouble this winter.

That's right, this will be your first Rocky Mt. winter. Buy good long underwear - don't skimp at the cost, the best and most comfy boots you can afford, and a warm comfort for the bed. Layer for outdoors. I haven't worn a "winter coat" in years because I wear four layers instead, although you, my friend, better have one already. Leave room for layers.

I want you to survive the winter Cajun. You'll toughen. There are few things more beautiful than winter in the Rockies. I envy you. If I close my eyes and stand just so...... I'm there. Too many years.

Be warm, my bearded friend, and let that beard grow out more too. You'll thank me for that advice come the first real chill. You're in for such fun. :laughtwo:

Did I read that right?

We all laughed at this. He hasn't been back yet to see how we all envy him. That greener grass syndrome on full display. :laughtwo:

great stuff :thumb:

Im running at 11/13 right now, but remembered you'd gone to 10/14 and were pleased, so I'm thinking go ahead and drop it another hour to speed it all up a bit more. Sound like a plan Ziggy?

Actually, Major, the plants in the Tiny Closet are photos, with the exception of the Dark Devils and the tiny AJHxAA. At 10/14 I might get them far enough along too, or at the very least far enough that leaving them in my daughter's care won't be a concern. That little one is only 10 days now, I believe. :hmmm:

If you need any information on surviving a Rocky Mountain winter, I'd be glad to help!

When you hear the term 'Oh, it's a dry cold'! Have not experienced -35 standing daytime temps with a wind chill of -70. dry cold, wet cold, damp cold...,call it what you want, then turn on the hot coco, light a bowl and start flipping channels.

Sue, Phoenix in December!! I was near there last winter. I'm so very happy for you! See how things just seem to find us when we aren't looking? I would not even worry a bit over your grow. ( I think that you might decide to relocate once you come out west!)

Sue I would get those girls into flower today! And with an 11/13 light /dark cycle they may finish just in time. Hang them in a closet on the day before you leave and trim when you come back. Your yield may be smaller but they will finish faster under that light cycle. Then order new seeds so you can store them and start them on the day you come back.

I have no shortage of seeds. :battingeyelashes: I'll make my picks and have everything ready to go when I return. I can't take any with me so the bountiful harvest will carry me far beyond my next one, if, in fact, I decide to stay here. One never knows. :cheesygrinsmiley:

It also gives me the opportunity to set the closet up and get a small veg box set up in case I do decide to stay here for a while longer. Sooner or later the move will happen. It's just timing.

Breakfast, coffee!!!!!! Let's get this party started. Ooooo.... "Road to Joy", cranked up. WooHoo!!!
