The Joy Of Growing - SweetSue Goes Perpetual

Stopped by to say hello to the Sweetest of Sue's ! HELLO!! Hope you are having an amazing day today. I can only imagine how tough the tough times are but you are doing beautifully and you are blessed and very much loved!:Love::green_heart::Love::Love:

How sweet Magic, and amazingly well-timed. Lifted me right up when I needed it most. haha!! I was just headed over to your yard.

To answer, yes, it's been a good day. I've begun to cover responsibilities I've shied from for too long and my home is beginning to show itself from under the clutter. I'm feeling better about the grow and can see things coming together. I took extra time with the tent this afternoon to get as entranced as Weaselcracker suggested and now I know my plants a little better. The meditations are going well. Still trying to figure out how to be grateful for grief, but I'll get there.

All good things. Waiting for my dinner table out on the porch overlooking the river. If I'm lucky, baked potato with extra butter, gravy and coleslaw. And breaded and fried zucchini slices. A special treat. Opp! Table's ready. Later. :ciao:

That dinner sounds amazing. I think I'm going to fry some of our zucchini tonight. you are always giving me ideas. ...you and the munchies. ;)

So glad to hear your day is going well. You deserve it. I wouldn't know how to be grateful for grief either... but I believe you when you say you'll get there. You have an aura of joy inside and it'll well up and overtake the sadness until it doesn't sting. I can't say it'll go away completely but that's probably because what you had was so special. stay strong. :Namaste:

You have a lot to be positive about, we all know you're gonna rock your next high-brix plants, and you're going to have very nice buds soon even if things didn't start out well. Can't wait to see the new sprouts go, esp. that Carnival you're in love with

Good evening SoilGirl. Yeah, I go over to the closet pretty regularly, stand there back on my heels and say "Carnival" with the proper level of awe and respect. :laughtwo:

Thanks for the encouraging words Dear. I need to stop by your yard too. You have so much to follow there it amazes me. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Grief is the fire that will burn away just enough of the old Sue to reveal the new. Fire hurts. It's a hokey analogy so forgive me but it's like reforging a sword. Steel is strong but if you shove it into a hot fire it is forced to change or it will never make it out of the fire. The steel is periodically taken out and beaten between a hammer and a hard place. Sometimes the sword is taken from the fire and immediately plunged into cold water, shocking it to the core no doubt, and before it even knows what just happened it is back in the fire. Over time impurities burn away. By the time it is finished it's made of the same molecules but through fire they've been re-arranged. The sword is much stronger now. The sword is also much more supple, it'll bend farther and be much harder to break now. It looks like the old sword but somehow it's just 'more'. The sword is shiny again.

Sounds unpleasant but there is hope there! You'll find you gratitude for grief. Maybe it will hit you when you least expect it, like being plunged into cold water...

Much Love!

pidg I read in a thread somewhere where the person vents down the main sewer drain out of the house into the sewer

I don't know that I'd want to establish a direct connection between my grow space and the sewage system. Hot air rises. That's why we vent high.

Thank you Pigeons. A decent analogy at that. I realized that I can be grateful that he was important enough in my life that I grieve his leaving. The expressions of grief reflect that, and as such I am grateful for them. So the gratitude awareness is beginning to change me already.

Time to do today's meditation.

Sue...were they your seeds a bunch of posts back showing the root? What are you doing??? Let me ..if i may...that is now wasted energy. If your gonna germ seeds in paper towels like that...you have to get them in soil pronto...don't wait to see all that root. I'm pissed. They are looking for soil....and you are taking pics of them......all that energy they have used showing you their root is now wasted ...oh wait , i already said that!! Do you know what you are doing??? Sorry , just read back ..it was Tranquil!

Yes Bear, my room is in the basement. Coolest place in the house.

I grow in my basement.

I found a section of kitchen floor that extends out past the concrete foundation - which equals no hole required thrugh concrete.
I drilled a 6" hole up into wood below the rafters and routed duct between rafters to the flower room.

My garden room has a window, so I just put up insulation foam over the opening, opened the window, and used the ducting to 'saw' through the foam.
Of course, outside the duct blows air onto peoples ankles

It's hps ones I'm after but I'll check that out CC, maybe they have some. I'm hoping to be able to use them as a filter so I can take photos properly. My only choice for connection to the internet is by iphone and I've yet to find a way to balance out the yellow hps light on the phone's camera. I'll also do another check over the 420 rules around non-sponsors. :thumb:

EDIT----
I checked them out. They do have hps glasses. Turns out I have looked at them before- the method seven glasses. I believe Kriaze wrote a review of the led ones. Thanks. I emailed them to see if they'd sell me a single lens for cheaper as a filter while I replenish the recently vaporized grow budget.

The 420 rules- "Posts pertaining to the buying/selling/trading/swapping/testing/giving of seeds, clones, pollen, cannabis, hash, mail order Marijuana or any other substance or article are not permitted."

I suppose that covers it but as long as we are just reviewing products not working hard to promote the sale of them, it's probably fair in the pursuit of the general mission of spreading knowledge, etc? Someone hopefully correct me if I'm wrong.

I think it's in the area of non-sponsor lEDs, oops I mean LEDs but probably those too, where things get more strict because the non sponsor LEDs have been naughty and annoying.

EDIT 2 - The method 7 people got back to me- they do sell lenses for 'real' cameras, as well as clip on sunglasses which are slightly cheaper than the regular ones- that's about all the info I got.

If you hold your phone just right, you can hold the real phone filter lens over the cell phone lense with one hand and tap/click to focus and take a photo with the other. I do this with a jewelers loup and the cell phone camera, so it should be possible.

If you have a soft phone cover back, you could probably place the filter lens between the camera and the phone cover - so the phone cover holds the lens in place. That might also mess with your flash. :goodluck:

I have read that too, with basement grows they simply connect to sewer via the clean out (sewer systems not septic is what I understood)

Canna air added to the sewer clean out should exit your house through roof vents. The houseold drains all have water collecting elbows and closet bends, so while you might get canna aroma into the house's drain pipes, the aroma should go straight out the roof, not the house water fixtures. This sounds like a superior air exit (assuming grow room exhaust entering the sewer cleanout at a downward angle.)

Method seven glasses are sold by a sponsor, Perfect Gardens. KingJohnC mentioned them in a journal I was reading sometime ago.

Duggan, my best instinct is to plant directly in soil. That's not working well, particularly with the Kit soil at this time. I have no idea why it should suddenly give me trouble. My last run the Kit soil almost shot the seeds out by the third day. This time I'm going 2/5 in Kit soil.

How do you start your seeds Duggan, and what's your success rate?

For what it's worth, you might be better off buying a germination tray/dome, a heating mat, and some Jiffy pellets to start seeds in an ideal environment (temp and humidity-wise). When you start to see roots, transplant those babies into HB soil and watch them take off.

Besides 6 freebie seeds that were reviewed as highly unreliable, I have yet to lose a seed using those materials.

can I walk by your house and get my ankles smelly?

I really lucked out. My room has a hole that goes right outside. Used to be a cold room for potatoes and things I suppose. So no crazy work is needed.

Ahh yes this brings me to my next question.

For those of us that have a carbon filter. Don't you think it's not performing 100% if it's in a 90 degree corner?

I noticed a few, not just one, grows that put the filter in the corner of a room. Doesn't it make sense to put it in the middle of the room? Or at least in an area where air can filter in 360 degrees of the filter?

Legitimate question. I'm not trying to be an ass. (Worlds full of enough of them)

I don't have a carbon filter but I would think putting it in the middle may impact how your lights hang. I would stick mine in a corner just to keep it out of the way.
