The soil may have been a hair hot for a direct planting but she powered right through it. It was the soil from the funky pink plant lol but that plant hit 17 at one point so highish Brix soil. That's a really good mix. No wonder she's brixing high in that little pot.
That's pretty cool G, you've got this brix thing figured out pretty well.
Was the used soil from a high brix grow?
Dude this is awesome! I think I have these pieces floating around at home lol. Maybe even 2 eye bolts for those tough to squeeze leafs hahahHey Gman and the Brix gang..........
While staring at the ceiling at 3 am or It could have been a stoner moment. I dreamed up the Juicer 5000. I tried it tonight and it squeezed out the juice of a leaf quite well. And sure as hell was easier than using pump pliers. There was absolutely no cursing and I didn't have to eat spinach for lunch.
I was able to get a small amount of juice just using my fingers. A couple of wrenches makes childs play out of the plant material. It works well. A small amount of plant material did oooze out the blow hole. Not a big deal.......Maybe a smaller drill bit? I bought a second nut just in case .This is only the prototype. 1.0
Materials......About $1.75 at the hardware store.
Two 1/2" bolts.
One 1/2" nut.
Small drill bit/ drill.
Screw the first bolt into the nut about even with the hole. Pack a boot heel of green in and the nscrew on the second bolt. Easypeasy!
Hope this helps the dreaded squeeze. Have a great night All.
lol we all are. Watering is the only real connection of affection we get to them, so we love them to death.Yeah, my soil doesn't cycle as well as I'd like. It's often a week between waterings so I still needs some adjustments.
Like you, I now typically water according to the stick. I've come to realize I'm a pretty bad judge if left tonnage it on my own.
I would start with dropping the leaf mold. It's too dense of a carbon. It holds too much water. Just that may make a big difference.I think I might have too much organic matter in my mix with a lot of the fines coming from castings, compost and leaf mold.
If you use dolomite water and get your one free molasses drink in on your inputs in your yard, your base brix levels will increase as the inputs get healthier. Then your mix brix just go up.I ended up reverting to commercial stuff just to get to the brix hurdle. So that's going to be another set of discoveries. I have the various calcium, azimuth, bone meals, etc. I decided I wanted to know if I could actually get there with my base mix.
Don't be cheap then, Calmag your whole yardGood thing I have a lifetime supply.
Que Jaws music....Week 4 after flip.
That's an awesome idea RR!.Hey Gman and the Brix gang..........

11 brix with a good calcium line, you're almost there.
How's your soil moisture? If it's wet you can dry down for a few free brix and then you will be over the threshold and into the high brix zone.
It can. From 16 to 20 bottom to top isn't a big spread, and the plant is putting the energy upwards. If the 16 was fully in the light at a similar ppfd then she might be hungry, but if that 16 was from lower light then that's normal, but again possibly hungry. Watch your lower leaves for hunger. If it starts to show then top dress a bit more.I have another Brix question, not to bog down your thread. Does getting a lower Brix number on a lower fan leaf compared to a higher number from leaf at the top of the canopy mean anything?
As if. Gee will tell you that questions are the entire point of this thread. Well, one of the main ones at least.I have another Brix question, not to bog down your thread.
That and the beautiful bud he grows! As if. Gee will tell you that questions are the entire point of this thread. Well, one of the main ones at least.
Ahh shit well she doesn't have that many yet only 6 nodes and I quadlined her lol these were the quadline scraps. It can. It can also be that the plant is a 16 and you made a tweak or used a feed and she shot up to 20 but the whole plant hasn't caught up yet. Or possibly a low pressure front is moving in and she's just starting to push her sugars down to the roots.
I'd brix another lower leaf in a few days. If it's still 16 or higher your good. If it's lower then feed her a bit more. Not a ton more, just a bit.
Ok, I'll try that. I do really like that input so maybe I'll revert to mother nature's way and just include it in my mulch layer.I would start with dropping the leaf mold. It's too dense of a carbon. It holds too much water. Just that may make a big difference.
The biochar I'm now doing 2 tablespoons I think. I've been adding it for a while and it also comes in with the old soil component and it's recommended not to exceed 10-12% of your mix.How much leaf mold, and how much biochar per gallon of mix?
Other than the perlite, the biochar and the small mineral additions just about all the rest is organics. My old soil component is what's left over from the compost, castings and leaf mold inputs that remain after the prior round. Now that you are high brix you only need enough soil carbon to satisfy water retention. You get a lot of soil carbon from the air now with exudates.
Meaning what, make them into teas?Thats the biggest bang for your buck to get away from the commercial inputs. If you juice everything up it will increase your inputs mineral content, and then brix gets way easier. You may need to add rock dusts to your input beds as you will be mining them heavily, or bring in more compost.
If you are suggesting mulching my input plants with them, I started doing that this fall. I spread my compost pile around and then covered with mowed leaves. I don't have enough leaf mold to spread that around that much, but the leaves themselves will break down into leaf mold over the coming years. This is actually a fantastic place for leaves. They are high in minerals.
Seez you.Well that was almost worth getting up early for.
I gotta stop asking questions at night... All these get a coffee answers are killing my sleep habits .As if. Gee will tell you that questions are the entire point of this thread. Well, one of the main ones at least.
Most definitely the budsThat and the beautiful bud he grows!
I wouldn't worry, just watch. Save your leaves. You know they're all at least a 16 now.Ahh shit well she doesn't have that many yet only 6 nodes and I quadlined her lol these were the quadline scraps.
Ok, I'll try that. I do really like that input so maybe I'll revert to mother nature's way and just include it in my mulch layer.
Be careful that biochar doesn't get to be too much. It never goes away so it accumulates. The biochar I'm now doing 2 tablespoons I think. I've been adding it for a while and it also comes in with the old soil component and it's recommended not to exceed 10-12% of your mix.
Thats pretty heavy. The leaf mold is an even third of the organic third, so 10 percent-ish.
No sorry, bad choice of words. I meant if you juice everything up, as in fortify it with dolo water and a molasses tea to make it a more nutritious input. Hopefully a high brix input.Meaning what, make them into teas?
This is where leaves excel. They are too wet for pots. They can add the minerals to your input plants and then you put those into your mix, hopefully as a green. If you are suggesting mulching my input plants with them, I started doing that this fall. I spread my compost pile around and then covered with mowed leaves. I don't have enough leaf mold to spread that around that much, but the leaves themselves will break down into leaf mold over the coming years.
Hehe. I'm up at 3am all the time.Seez you.
This is a concern for me. My Elemental Blend that I use to amend and top dress, has a lot of biochar in it. I see it accumulate. I guess at some point I have to add more fresh soil to the mix or what?Be careful that biochar doesn't get to be too much. It never goes away so it accumulates.

Hey all I forgot to mention this. I did use my fingers to pulverize the leaf before inserting it into the Juicer 5000. And get yourself an old tooth brush to clean the plant material out of the threads of the nut. A soak in some water helps loosen the chaw out of the threads too. Make it a great day and happy brixing.
Well, they don't know that. The stuff they carbon dated in the Amazon only goes back 1,000 years or something.Be careful that biochar doesn't get to be too much. It never goes away so it accumulates.
It will only accumulate if you ammend more in every recycle. This is a concern for me. My Elemental Blend that I use to amend and top dress, has a lot of biochar in it. I see it accumulate. I guess at some point I have to add more fresh soil to the mix or what?
