OK so I've been MIA for the last couple weeks and wanted to make sure all knew that things are good. Just had a very bad PC problem, now resolved :yahoo:

As alway the :BH: always have things under control. Damn reaching 1k of pages :adore:
Hat tip to y'all, each and everyone of you.

Anyhow, :sorry: if I missed any of your grow issues, but I definetly know that MC, Roseman and all the :BH: have it handled.

Great to be back in the mist of great company. :ganjamon:

Welcome back brother! Glad to hear you got the PC problem fixed!

MC, I don't see anything that looks like larvae.
If the spots I have are eyes, these are gonna be the world's biggest gnats! :biglaugh:
It looks like someone blew their nose all over the roots.
They are slimy almost fuzzy looking.
I'm waiting for my neighbor to come home so I can take a pic or 2 (if I can work the camera).

Anyway, I went to the hydro store and got a bottle of "GoGnat", which they told me is GREAT if what I have is fungus gnats.

Thanks for your help, and I'll post again when I take a pic. :thankyou:

Yes pictures please! I am leaning toward Pythium(root rot), with what you are describing. If that is the case, then we are going to need to do some surgery on those roots!

Well unless you are a cat, lets not make this your second!!

Okay, here's a couple of lousy pics.
If anyone can tell what I'm looking at, it will be greatly appreciated!

Guys and Gals, I have not been around much lately but I did manage to get Daisy to this point of 12 and 12 lighting and she is going to make it think. I actually was away at work for three weeks and then home for 2 days and gone on vacation for another 2. This is what I ended up with from the last time I posted

Till tonight.......

Its been ages and we had a few close calls as far as hydration goes but she is flowering now and I managed to get a couple nice clones from her that are going to make it I think. Dirt grows are tricky when you cant be there all the time, way prefer the hydro when I am away so much.

Hope you are all doing good and I can't wait to check in on all of you, take care
J

Sorry I didn't reply sooner! That's Pythium(root rot)!!! You need to cut all the roots that are slimey off, ASAP! Then I would reccomend doing another res change and scrub everything. The roots will grow back, it might set you back in the grow, but should be fine.

Hey grownavy,
My only concern would be the Wonder Woman they are your "grandfathers' signature weed" for a reason. If you have 2 female WW they will use up all of that 4X4 area. I have 2 fems that I started from seed (started with 4), and I have grown them under cfl's only and the are way to crowded in a 2X3 area that they are in.

This pic was taken 6 days ago and have even gotten bushier. If they had more lateral room I would be much happier. :thumb:

Your absolutely right Guido, I was just scrolling through my journal and realized that the 3x3 I had couldn't contain 4 girls. WW likes to be topped and bushed out, but she'll give you a beautiful canopy with proper LST techniques. I think I'll do 3 then. One in the 5 galllon bucket, and 2 in the BP tank. Thanks for the input bro, much appreciated.
Beautiful plants by the way. Nice, strong and healthy!

Since everything that is slimey is what reaches the water, when I cut them off won't the plants die since nothing will be in the water?

I don't get it. The water is clear, I've been keeping my res temps below 75, the plants (4 out of 6) look good, and there's no smell!
How do I keep this from happening again? :scratchinghead:

Thanks for answering! :thankyou:

drying is done, and now on to curing... :yummy:

There is a lot of light coming in through the walls of that bucket. Could all that light contribute to root rot?

For prevention, hygrozyme or something similar can help keep the water and the roots clean.

While tipping the lid up on my to WallyWorld Sterilite tubs I noticed a lot of unwanted light bleeding through the container & some brown fuzzy looking stuff on the clear air lines in the tub, I've still got 6 or so un-used so I went to Lowe's & bought some rattle can paint for plastic and turned all my tubs & lids black, I can still see some light bleeding through at the overlaps but its much better than before, I'll swap out the ones I'm using for the blacked out ones next rez change, or just line it with a black trash bag.
I was concerned of this very issues if I didn't black them out, I guess the rubber maid brand is a better opaque plastic than sterilte, I did see some black plastic tubs at Orchard Supply Hardware(OSH), for anyone interested.
Sorry to see you having this issue, but I was feeling like painting the tubs black was over kill & a waste, until now.
Good luck and I hope your girls recover.
Best Regards,
John Whorfin

Something that also works is covering the whole res with foil tape from Home Depot or doubling up on the tubs, one inside the other.

I have decided to replace my airstones between grows, because roots have grown into them and I don't see a way to clean them enough to be sure that i don't have anything in there that is rotting and contaminating my res

but I have not noticed any slowdown in bubbling

I have a 12 inch airstone from a fishtank (Per advice from The Answer I won't be using in this grow) that just blasts out the air still. It was from husbands fish tank setup when he was a teenager. It still works, and works WELL. They just don't make em like they used to...
