The Deep Water Culture Home

MC, Plants look great just worried that they may not be eating ! I usually add nuted water at about 800-900 ppm, in the morning the ppm was 900 and water was about a gallon down..I added 1 gal of PHd 5.8 water with only a bit of cal-mag.

I've noticed at different times my plants will "stall" from eating for a day or two for absolutely no reason at all. Show no signs of decline or being unhappy. I think while their going through different hormonal changes their diet fluctuates a bit and they might not feed for 3-5 days.
I swear its happened to me every grow... Taught me not to check my ppm everyday, gets me nervous for no reason, and then I start fidgeting with things. I check it mid week now and pH every other day.

And we all know a plants worst enemy is an over caring gardener ;)

I have a question.

My dispensary doesn't have any 100% pure indica plants. He has hybrids. Can I do a hybrid (indica Dominant - no more than 40% sativa) in a DWC? I know I'll have longer flower time, and may have to LST or SCROG the plants, I just want to know if it is a good idea to do it.

You most certainly can, I normally do about 50/50 and have done a couple grows that were 80/20 Sativa Dominate. You just need to flower earlier, because they WILL STRETCH about double that of an Indica. But they have such a beautifully mellow head high.... I love my sativa's :ganjamon:

So the higher the Sativa dominance the higher they will tend to want to grow. And they can also be very nutrient picky. flucuating between wanting a lot to wanting very little.

And your also looking at an extra 2-5 week flowering the higher the Sativa dominance goes.

But IMHO the extra care, patience, and frustration, are well worth it when you partake of a true Sativa.

Thanks for your quick response! I grew a hybrid in my last grow and I ended up having to flower it for 11 weeks! I can handle the longer flowering time because of that experience, plus I have a pocket scope. I just know its a little different harvesting Sativas because if you miss the optimum time for harvest, you have an even longer wait for it to get back there, or you may end up missing entirely.

I won't have them for 2 weeks, because my dispensary says he needs 2 weeks for cutting the clone, and getting it ready. Thanks again for responding!

As soon as I know the percentages, I'll be picking your brains for how long to veg.

I've actually considered growing a mom with a high sativa dom strain. Cloning then vegging like a week or two then right to flower to keep the height down.

I miss my mellow head high. :)

What I was planning is if any of my bagseed turned out to be Sativa, that I would put it in soil, and LST and SCROG it. My 22 year old son has generously donated his closet for dirt mamas and Clones. That way I have a nursery separate from my flowering area.

I like Sativas and their buzz that they give, I just don't know if I'll be able to handle the stretch and height of it. Although I do have a vaulted ceiling in my closet.... Hmmmm

If it's indica dominant in most likely is indica dominant in growing pattern also. If so you can expect a 8-10 week flower. The sativa dominants are the one's you have to watch closely. It comes down to how well you trust your supplier.

My dispensary is family owned, and we are good friends with the people who own/run the dispensary. They are like family. They have been giving me all sorts of tips on my grow, and today I brought my jar in and had them give me their opinion. They told me it looks AWESOME, and SMELLS WONDERFUL. I told them it still needs to cure for a few more weeks, but they told me I did a GREAT job for a first timer. They told me most people get impatient and cut it down before they are ready. OH I checked out the trichs on my girls with their microscope. All CLoudy Trichs with a few amber!!! I did good!!!!

But yea, I trust these people, they are GREAT!!! So today I ordered White Widow, AK 47, and Blueberry Clones. They'll be ready for me in 2 weeks...

MMM White widow and blueberry very nice! Wish ordering clones and stuff was universal. Damn the states for discriminatiing on MMJ and denying patients potential medicine.

All this talk about flowering times makes me wonder how long should veg times be?
This Sunday will be 5 weeks since I put the germed seeds in my tank, and I am/was planning on vegging for 6 weeks to get some decent plants going, but even the tallest, strongest plant is only about 8 inches tall.
Since I am using unknown bagseed, I know it's hard to be accurate, but should I stick with the 6 weeks veg, or should I go longer (say 8 weeks)?
I don't want monsters, and I'm not doing any topping or anything else to them for this first grow.
Once I have a little confidence (next grow if this one works), then I'll worry about all that.
So, is there any way to tell how long I should veg my babies?
:thankyou:

I go by maturity more than height. If you have the head room then it is best to wait until you have alternating leaves (leaves don't grow right across from each other). That indicates that the plants have reach maturity and are ready to bear buds.

Figure the plant to get 2x or a little more their veg height.

MC, What if your using a clone ? isn't a clone really part of a mature plant ? Would they be better suited for early flowering ? :peace:

hey everyone, havent really taken any pics latley (camera wont hold a charge for to long)but i was able to get a few pics before it died,
