The Deep Water Culture Home

At Last I can post, a question
I have 2 flowering in a tub w/ 4 holes and I have another 2 getting in another tub
My thought is maybe move the 2 out of the vegging tub in w/ the flowering tub filling the empty 2 holes
Is this risky or wise

My only concern would be space between the plants for good lighting.

Just poppin in before heading to work. Nice lookin bud there C5! I have started my comparison grow journal between GH and AN nutes. If anyone would like to come along for the ride you can find it here.. Drdan's GH Flora Nova (+) vs. AN Grand Master Level Hydro Grow
Wish I had more time to catch up on :reading420magazine: but work gets in the way. Have a great day all!:peacetwo:

Just smoked a bud of some Big Budda's "The Kali" Well that aged very well! Wasn't that potent at 30 days but 55 days is a completely different story.

I was a little high when I hit it but no more than 1/2 a bowl's worth. Took one hit of this and have to set it down for awhile! Whew!

At bedtime I may get a bong hit of it but I'm going to be close to the bed when I do! And here I thought I may have had a little burnout! LOL!

Good news is that I played a hunch and have two seedlings going for my next grow. I wonder if she clones well? Huumh!!

Here's a stupid question.

I plan on getting clones from my dispensary for my DWC setup. My question is, can you clone a clone??? I know I would have to wait for it to get settled, but I was wondering if you could do it and not have any impact on quality.

IE a picture of a picture isn't as good as the original...

Sure you can clone a clone. Take a clone before you go into flower or anytime it is big enough to give you a viable clone. Some people also top their plant and use the top as a clone.

Most reports says you can do this for many generations. Hence the term Mother plant. So if you want to try I'd say go for it when the time comes.

Thanks MC!!

Stealth Hydro is making good on their mistake, they are sending me out a slab of 45 Rockwool cubes instead of the 21 I ordered. They are also sending me out a replacement Ona Gel. FREE OF CHARGE!!! I asked them to put it in a gallon ziplock baggie so it won't blow up over everything again. The rep even made notes on my account to state to baggie liquids for future orders because of my altitude! That's personalized service!!!:welldone::welldone:

My new Journal documenting the DWC from SH and my DIY kit is in my siggy if anyone wants to drop by. I haven't started anything yet. I am waiting to go into my hydro store tomorrow to get more hydroton, baskets, and more nutes for the second DWC res. But I do have pictures of my gear, and my seeds started in soil. They haven't come up yet, and I plan on planting some more using the coffee cup in water, covered with a plate on top of my fridge soon. I don't know how that will go, I have very shaky hands...

Sorry for the long post. I tend to ramble...

Galadrial, SH sounds like a pretty good place to do business! I may have to order something from them just because they treat 420 people so good ! Buy the way if you mention "Deep Water Culture " they give you a discount on your order !! :peace:

I used the Deep Water Culture in the discount sections and got 10 percent off my order. Basically covered most of the shipping costs! Which was Right on!!!

SH is sending me that order FREE, no shipping. Which is really cool since they use Fed ex and their three day delivery is excellent!

Going to the hydro store tomorrow to pick up nutes for my DIY DWC res. Can anyone recommend some idiot proof nutes besides AN?? They are a bit pricey. I was thinking the Recipe For success kit, but I would have to order that online. I am getting impatient waiting to start my grow... :)

Update on my grow.

All plants are 26-28" which ain't all that bad for 10 days in flower. This strain can grow vertical for another two weeks but it looks like it may stop around double or a little more. That I can handle!

They are spreading out almost if not more than growing up. I have resorted to netpot tipping on the bp tank and tying the soil plants off in sort of a sideways LST. Cup hooks screwed into the walls and tie off a plant portion to it with some help twine. Looks like I'm going to fill that 4'x4' space with 6 plants. Think I did too good of a job on coaxing some side grow tips to the canopy! LOL! I have some 18" side branches!

In general things are running smooth. That always freaks me out! They are dropping leaves a little more than my liking. I could adjust the nutes a little to help but I'm not losing anything the plants aren't using and they are growing well so I'll leave them alone. This is especially true on the soil plants. Next watering by Fox Farm's schedule includes some Grow Big (supportive N in this case) so that will help. I'm flying on gut instinct and some basic instructions and figured I yell if I get in trouble.

I have 7 of 9 (unintentional Star Trek reference) plants for the next grow up and growing strong. 2 more are in the domed flat and saw their first light tonight. Line up will be 3 - Jack Herer, 2 - Cream Caramel, 2 - The Kali, 1- Bllue Widow, and 1 - White Widow. Why do I do these things to myself! LOL!

I don't think I'm going to let this batch veg to more than 10". It's my only hope of being to transfer all of them to the upstairs flower room. I may have to resort to sending them to flower in the veg room. I have a 250 hps bulb so I'll use it when the time comes and finish them under the 400 for the important last 3-4 weeks. That way I can then start some new seeds at that point and get back on schedule. Could be I'll take some clones from a potential good Mom and just screw myself up again! LOL!

Way to Go! :thumb:

I use AN sensi grow and bloom its only about 25-30 bucks for parts a&b of either gr or bl and you don't need much !! I use about half of what they recommend !! So it goes a long way ! The additives can get crazy but you don't need to use them ..use any other additives !

I wish I could do the chill routine more than once a day, but I share a house with another person, and I can't take up all the space in the fridge, and there's NO space in the freezer.
Yesterday when I did the D&R, I mixed 6 gallons on nuted, PH balanced water and stuck them all in the fridge (it was a tight fit), and had to listen to complaints all the while they were in there.
My temps have been in the 64 (right after chilling) to 76 (just before).
I know 76 is a little high, but there's really nothing more I can do short of buying an air conditioner for my tent or chiller for my res.
I really don't know what I'm gonna do when I add more lights!:yikes:

Anyway just as an update, I did the D&R last night, and I scrubbed the hell out of the res, air stones, air lines, and the temperature sensor line.
I used a really stiff brush on the stones (I had little blue chips on my hands), but there was still discolored spots on both stones.
When I plugged everything all back up, I noticed that there was bubbles only coming out of half of the 12 inch stone, so I am going to replace them, get a bigger air pump (with 2 outlets), and add another stone or 2.
Hopefully that will help.

Thanks again everyone for all your help! :thankyou:

Sounds like you are getting it under control. You should search for a DIY res chiller. ;)

+reps bro!

Well day seven from soak and I had roots hit the water today!!!

Two are showing, One's a runt. One has a root out of the basket and one has 6 roots IN the water already and it just started it's second set of leaves.

Strains

Northern Lights - roots out of the basket

Power Kush - 6 roots already IN THE WATER

Lemon Skunk - slow going, slow to pop, slow to grow, no visible roots yet

pH - 6.0 - 7.0 I let it take a long drift this time.... Seems to have worked nicely.

ppm - 220-245

Temp - right around 75*

Lighting - 6 4ft. T-5 Assembly.

Just 1 ml. of superthrive in the 6 gal of water.

Very happy with my growth so far, hopefully they keep it that way.

Great Start! +reps!

I've been looking at T5HO's lately. Theres a new one that is 2'x 4' with 8 bulbs putting out 40000 lumens. You think you could veg and flower a bubbler with 4 plants under it?

My res temp is too high and im thinking of using H202 and it says its 29% oxidizer. It says to dilute 3ml in 4 liters of water. Do I do this for allt he six gallons int he res? I just don't want to overdo it.

Please check out my first grow :)

I think for a 6 gal res you could use 2-3 tablespoons ! Make sure your not using organic nutes as H202 will fuck with them ! I like to add a little hydrzyme to a res also helps use the dead roots floating around in there so they don't cause any trouble ...

2 tablespoons per gallon - preventative
3 tablespoons per gallon - cure

I too like the zymes, they turn dead root matter into usable nutes. ;)

That is risky, only because they would be at different nute levels. How long have the first two plants been in flower and what is the differential in PPM?

The Answer knows! :adore:
