As far as the BH logo, if someone judges you over the method you use to grow, then I wouldn't really respect their opinion much anyway.
If someone wants to help, they shouldn't really care how you grow or even what you grow, otherwise what's the point of "helping"?

The only place you lost me was on putting the gallon jug in the res? Why would you put the jug in the res? :hmmmm:
I put lines on the inside of my res so I know that if I'm short water, and about how much it is short.
That way too, if I drain off 2 gallons to replace it with 2 gallons of cold water, I know I just have to run the pump until I hit the 4 gallon line, and then add the cold water until it reaches the 6 gallon line.

I only put the gallon jug in the water to fill it, I don't have a pump in the res anymore, and like a dummy I didn't get the drain valve when I purchased my bubbler from SH. I will be ordering one tho.

I am not trying to be friends with those that like to create drama or are to full of themselves (thinking that their way is the only way), but at my stage of learning how to grow, it is easier for me to get a bunch of different ideas how of to deal with a growing question/problem and trying the recommended solution that best fits my growing situation. Just to let you know about 95% of the methods that I use and ideas that I get come directly from this thread.

Here is yet another way to cool a bubble rez by using an auxillary rez.
This one is very inexpensive and doubles your growing rez capacity. It uses the ice bottle method without the bottles being in the growing rez which reduces volume and shocks the roots.

Use another rez that can run as deep as your growing rez with a little extra room at the top for circulating column clearance and a lid.

For the auxillary rez you make an air powered circulator made from a waterfarm plumbing kit which retails for $15. Or you can buy a circulating kit made by GH for about $60.

Connect the reservoirs together using 1/2" fittings and tubing.

Connect the circulating column to the fitting inside the auxillary rez that connects to the growing rez.

Fill the two reservoirs to capacity.

Load up the auxillary rez with frozen ice bottles.

Plug in the air pump to power the circulating column and there you have it! The circulator will move warm solution into the iced solution and back again, cooling the rez.



Mounted in the auxillary rez it should look like this but instead of seeing a float valve you would see floating ice bottles. This circulator will move one gallon of water every five minutes.

It appears to be working, a little early to tell it has been about 24 hrs. They drooped quite a bit a few hours after being inserted but they all have perked up. I think I see some signs or roots starting but not sure yet. If it works I will be impressed. It took me 5 minutes to make and didn't cost me a penny.

You know what's funny? I don't get any negative pm's or haters. Well, I got one a while back and they ranted, I said I was sorry they felt that way (only answer that made the slightest bit of sense), and moved on. I have a strong feeling that the best way to handle haters is to let them stew about it and just keep doing what we are doing. They are not the one's who are keeping score anyway! That is way,way,way over my pay grade!
