That's what I do. About every other res change I run Kleerex for a couple of hours before the change and then dump it. Did do one kleerex in the last res change before I cut.

Ash is a good indicator for sure. Look at bubble hash. I made some a month or so ago and the smaller the micron the lighter the ash color. Ash should be ultra fine dust if everything burns clean too. Look at nasty tobacco things and how black the ash is. All those lovely chemicals they add.
Talk about a bunch of friendly Scientists! Great infomation! Makes sense too!
I have found that unflushed an when smoking the ash will burn black or almost black and taste is harsh and when flushed the ash will burn almost white and tastes almost sweet! look for that, I didn't think to look for that till a friend pointed it out.
Just started to use it on this grow-a-round! so it works out good on health and the likes? so it's best to use it a day before? or only hours? before the res change for the best results! and yes for flush.
That's news to me since I'm not around any dispensaries. Good info! Guess I'll tell for sure for me when I compare. Plant #2 Grow 8 vs. Same strain - Grow #7. I'll let you know my findings
RP, do you final flush the florakleen?
Yes it worked fine and always does for me. I nute soup my res and I think it sets everything back to zero which is what a res change is supposed to do. I use it 2 hours before a res change. I also crack open the covers on the netpots and pour about a cup or two of the Florakeen or Kleerex charged res water in the cups. Also, sometimes if it needs a gallon anyway I'll fix up a gallon of water and floraclean and pour that through the netcups. It's extra work but I feel I have to do it if I'm running some additives. Haven't had nute lock since I started doing it.
I also want to do a side by side. I figure I'll be using two totes next grow, so would be a perfect chance to have side by side. Not exactly science, but still worth a gander.
On "betweens" I use a diluted mix and keep Florakleen on the light side.
Finals 4-5 days I will use their recommended dose for final flush. So around 48-72 hours and then the very last 48 hours, I run just water. But remember, I'm still pretty much a rook!
In soil, I flush for the last 7-10 days. Sometimes a little longer when it doesn't ripen as fast as I'd hoped. I will flush through with some florakleen to get the salts broken up, then its just plain clean water. After those 7-10 days worth of flushing, I let 'em dry up a little until I feel they are ready for harvest.
I agree 100% and have said this same thing.
Also, when too much ferts are in the plant, the way it burns is a dead give away.
Not like flushing is more work. Not like the plants don't have plenty of food supplies in them, so why not?
Any local contests, any local dispensaries, anything around here requires you to flush. If you want to donate any cannabis, they taste test and inspect it. There are people who can definitely tell.
Just like some people can't stand hose or tap water, and have to have the cleanest, finest water. Some people will slurp up water from their local creek and not think twice. All just depends on you and your taste! To each their own.
And yes, I run FloraKleen every so often. Helps to keep things cleaner in the res.
Thanks for the info. Sounds right to me. So far the new stuff is a medium gray ash at best. Slightly more aromatic but it's only been in the jar for about 3 weeks so that could be the reason. I'll smoke a bowl of my older stuff and let you know.
So the last week or so shouldn't have any additives what so ever in the water.
Right on.
To be honest, I feel flushing has its pro's, but nothing will make up for proper drying and curing. I think that is what makes or breaks so many harvests. I think that is the key part, after getting good genes and providing everything they need.
Thats how I feel at least! But who knows whats best? Always trying something new! lol

In all the outdoor grow's I've done! yes I always cut off using fertilizers and just used plan water a week before harvest always! then the day before cutting the tree down I would feed it water with sugar mixed in, and now there is an additive that is used in the water I believe right up to the day of harvest.
