The Chiefs White Widow & White Russian DWC

Right now Im staying at 69 F but im worried about summer

69 isnt bad. but it could be lower.but you should be fine for a little. get some h202 for extra oxygen to the roots.yea summer is going to be tough. i may have to buy a chiller or ill have to take a break for those few months. i hope ill find a solution soon though.

Dammm i forgot about the temp.,.,oh but i have a remedy for that...i have a air cond..i wonder how one of those round ice chest would work..or square one...:idea:

thats exactly what i need. i need an air conditioner and then my problems will be settled. you should be fine after you get that conditioner if not h202 will give u some breathing room and give you a degree or 2 to prevent root rot.

Love the roots ya got going. I did afew little drip rig units awhile back. And you just reminded me about the worry of temp's in the res. If able you might wanta look into a chiller if plausible. I've seen alot of people into DWC sytems, and they bury the res under ground. I don't know the area your in as for temp's but maybe thats a idea?

After thought. Larger res and somehow keep the water flowing in your setups. Keepem Green

hey norcaliwood, nice to see you in here and im glad you did becasue you just shed some great info. if i were to bury the rez that would be amazing! what a simple but effective idea. im going to be looking into getting a chiller real soon if i get the $$ for it or if i get a real bad day of like 90 degree water ill know i cant fight that and ill need a chiller. so far this winter its nice and cool all the time.

thanx for stopping in bud those roots are even bigger tonight than they were when that pics was taken last night. these girls are EXPLODING!

Chief how do you use h202? do you use 3% or a stronger solution? what rate do you add it and how often? I have never used it before

good question! i add 2ml per litre. so i add 26ml to my rez of h202. u could just get hydrogen peroxide but i always liked getting the good stuff and just getting the h202

Your local drugstore's low quality 3% Hydrogen Peroxide has added chemicals. h202 is a lot like hydrogen peroxide actually the same when it comes to the molecules in it, 2 molecules of hydrogen and 2 molecules of oxygen but h202 is more stable and made for plants in mind through most brands.

hydrogen is the same your right, but its got a bit different motive for uses.if you have better access to peroxide you could deffinately do that no prob but keep the doses smaller. 1ml per litre would be good maybe 1 and a half ml per litre

im not sure if you explained it . i just went straite to post after i read it. i dont think anyone asked? but how does water lever affect wether you get rot or not very interesting.

if the water level gets too hihg they can get roots rot. i never let the bottom of my bucket lid get 1" to the water level. i rarely put it just an inch away usually an inch and a half.

too far away and they just dont seem to absorb as much nutes. they almost droop more on my plants when i give them too much space

Have you ever thought of modifying a igloo cooler for a dwc setup to keep rez temps in check! the cooler is insulated so it should help to keep the water at a desirable temp.
I am planning on running one dwc cooler soon. just to try out. I am familiar with rockwool growing in a flood and drain setup . But have yet to see any growth come close to the dwc buckets/tubs!

Amily and Big Beans thanks for stopping in much apperciated. Chief could you maybe pm me a pic of the bottle you use. Id like to start treating with h2o2 just a little nervous as I have read horror stories

how is going kief, big beans is more of a regular around here hes always in lol.

i got a pic right here ill post it up here for ya to see.

i was thinking about getting a cooler untill these last few days (if i do it will be summer time) lately i been getting my room temps to 73-70 degrees. at night its 66 degrees. im doing good all of a sudden when it comes to temps. i wont need me a chiller yet but i will for summer times which is rounding the corner
