The Beauty Of The Changing Seasons

..............
Woodpeckers and sand baths.... nice. Sounds better than sharing ticks with humans.

:laughtwo:

Love your Poem Shawnee. I have a sis in law that is of Indian heritage, I'm going to print that out for her. :)

GF, busy gal. Glad to hear the grow is going well. I will try to pop over there today for your updates. I'm getting ready for some pollinating on mine this weekend. Too much fun. :)

Dennise, I hope you still have at least some amount of color around you. LOL

Good Morning or afternoon everybody. :)

That weekend trip sounds lovely. But I don't have a broom....the vacuum cleaner has not grown any wings yet. :smoke2:

I wish I had some seasonal pics for inspiration, but everything here is in shades of grays and browns. Yuk. I have a couple of ideas though, it will have to wait until the weekend. I'm also going to go through an old hard drive that has some pics stored and see what I can post that is relevant to the seasons here. It should be very nostalgic for me. :)
I hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Canna... Most of the colors have blown out but the reds from the Bradford Pears and the purples are amazing. My trees in the front yard are still a flaming orange but it is supposed to storm today and it will take most of the orange that is left I think but right now it is still beautiful and last night..... Gotta say it.... We WON!!!!!!............:circle-of-love:

Yepper, the times they are a changing Dennise. ;-)

And that's all of the political comment I shall make. LOL

I'm going to start off today with a picture from 1978. This was the start of the blizzard of '78 here. My car is at my folks house, and we had only been there a couple of hours. The snow was falling so hard and steadily that it was halfway up the doors of my car. We had to shovel it out so I could return home. The lil' bit in the front of the picture is my son, who was having a blast in the snow while we work our butts off to dig the car out. :laughtwo:

Me too I promise... Just had to say it... The snow is just beautiful but NOOOOO!!! I didn't even know you had children and what a cutie he was... The best thing about the snow here is it is beautiful when it is falling and covering everything but it never last more than a couple of days... That I can live with but when I stayed Upstate taking care of my fella mom it snowed for a month straight I think. It just never stopped and people just keep on keeping on... I gotta give ya that one Canna..... I really just don't think I would ever be able to do it.....:thedoubletake:
Thanks for posting the whole poem... It really is about my favorite poem and I hadn't read it in years. It makes ya stop and think.....:circle-of-love:

Dennise,

Speaking of ornamental pear trees, I have 37 of them lining my driveway. They are always the last to go.....and that is a good thing!

I cleaned out about 4 Lowe's stores to collect them all, LOL. They were just tiny little whips at the time, and very inexpensive at that size. I am a patient person and now look! Reminds me of what the promenades look like in France. I had to have me one on the approach to the Shawnee Ranch.

Nice trees Shawnee! They look quite nice there. :)

I've got a couple more pics here, I'm digging way back and now we are going from extreme cold to beautiful spring/summer pics. LOL

And I found my yawning lion avatar! Somewhere along the line this year that picture disappeared. I found it on some old cd's and also the original picture I took at a zoo. I had to edit out all of the fencing and such. Took hours! Now-a-days it would probably take minutes. LOL

Next set and probably the last for today. Let's start with some color fall pics from Georgia back in the early nineties:

And a storm one night was so pretty that I parked off the highway and got some shots of the lightning around an industrial area. One strike looks like it goes right in between the frames of the power tower and the other looked like it hit the lights on one of the factory towers:

And the calm after the storm:

This one was an experiment with some filters I had for my camera, the star effect and a blue filter using rocks on a lakeshore:

All of the recent pictures I had transferred from slides. You will see some scratches and slight color imbalances due to that.

Shawnee, you will need to reupload the pic of your pretty trees to the off topic gallery. You loaded it to the regular member galleries.

You probably still have time to do it, you can edit a post within 420 minutes of the original post.

Oh my Lord, I must say I've enjoyed the last few pages. It was like the opening scene of Macbeth at times.:laughtwo: Absolutely terrific lightening shots, Canna. *chapeau*.

In retrospect, I agree. LOL You have a knack for motivating me to look into things long past Mr. Teddy, and I appreciate that. I haven't read Macbeth in eons. Hats off to you too!

Hope you and the Mrs. and lil' ones are doing well.

:Namaste:

Canna,

So sorry..still learning and doing all the wrong things....okay I am guilty of many violations....please forgive me....

Nothing to forgive whatsoever here. I'm just saving you getting a message from the moderators. LOL If you can't edit it, just click on the little triangle to report the post and explain you need it reloaded as off topic.
They won't bite ya.
:circle-of-love:

I'm going to clean Lowes out of a few fruit trees next year. Those are really pretty and I want something that produces fruit out here besides apples.

Canna,

For all of you, it takes a lot to post and be responsible for a journal.....don't think I will do it any time soon...I'm a pretty timid person....really enjoy what all of you do!

Well, until you're ready for a journal of a grow of your own, we are very happy to have you around. You will learn a ton of info here and meet really nice people too as you have already seen. Your confidence will build. I was scared to death to start one, but everyone was so helpful and patient that I wondered why I was so reluctant. :laughtwo:
