The Beauty Of The Changing Seasons

Ahhhh......"I see", sayeth the unknowning. :)

What a great story, and that pipe is awesome. My brother would love that and I think you have given me a very nice Christmas present idea. I would never have known what to call it, but he is a certified pipe smoker and has pipes everywhere. I have not seen one like this in his collection. He will enjoy the story for sure.
Let us know how your future conversations go with "Coyote", hopefully the pipe will loosen him up to chat openly. :)

Edit: on the Pileated woodpeckers. Those are just amazing birds, and absolutely huge. I have seen them here taking sand baths in the dirt around the pond. Kind of makes the regular woodpeckers seem like babies. LOL

I'm going to grab a pic off the net so people can see what they are.

Aye grasshopper.....

This gives you an idea how big the Pileated are:

“Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life,
keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.”

:circle-of-love:

My absolute favorite poem in the world.

You got it too Dennise. :high-five:

I built a webpage many years ago that had the whole poem with the song playing and I had a white dove with the peace leaf flitting around the page. The background was a universe with many stars. It was so cool.
It also hangs framed in my house.

Ladies,

You MUST come over for dinner.....we would have a blast!!!

Here's the whole poem for anyone who might not be familiar. It was written in 1927:

DESIDERATA

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Boy, ain't that the truth! I'm so good with it though. Wouldn't go back, oh no. So comfortable in my own skin, such a relief to be my authentic self with nothing left to prove....only to move forward with gratitude and to enjoy to the max. Lawd have Mercy!

Phew, caught up here! So much. Desiderata, yes. It literally saved my life back in the 70s.

I did not realize how large the Pileated was! I have heard that thing bashing its head into stuff, but never saw one.

Hello Shawnee.

Uh...almost going to harvest my three girls.

Mark still not working, but healthy. Phew.

We're expecting 7" of rain. Seeing is believing.

I hate election day, but I did vote on the first day of early voting.

McConnel...ug. I'm shutting up.

This, that, the other thing. I did update my journal if anyone wants to see the plants before its over.

I miss you guys. Fifi, hope you are feeling well. Canna, I couldn't watch the fox, but I appreciate your love of nature. I think we pretty much all have that in common. Something I heard which made me laugh was on Tom Green Live this week. Jay Mohr was talking about Woody Allen (who I can't stand) and asked Woody if he went to a country house on the weekend and Woody answered, "Oh, I'm two with nature." THAT, made me laugh out loud.

See ya on the flip side ya'll. Oh, one last; on the 70 degree thing. I am totally freezing when it is 70 out. Last week I wore a sweater with a pashmina. People were looking at me like I was a bit of a nut. Oh well. I was comfortable. I also freeze in movie theaters and restaurants. I did live in NYC the first 37 years of my life, now over 20 down in the southwest-ish. HOT HOT HOT. Later gaters...

I have an affinity for the American Indian Nation....this is very much like your favorite, Canna. This is one of my favorites.

“So live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide.

Always give a word or a sign of salute when meeting or passing a friend, even a stranger, when in a lonely place. Show respect to all people and grovel to none.

When you arise in the morning give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself. Abuse no one and no thing, for abuse turns the wise ones to fools and robs the spirit of its vision.

When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.”

~ Chief Tecumseh, Shawnee Nation

Hi Gardenfaerie,

On second thought, Ladies, I will send my broomstick to collect all of you this Friday to come to stay at my place for the entire weekend!:yahoo::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Thank you guys for being so respectful of my sharing about Coyote.
For me, this is HUGE!
Obviously, I have concerns about offending those who may see this as cultural appropriation (especially those on this thread representing the Shawnee nation :) )
My only defense is that I didn't choose who would join me in conversation.

I probably won't talk about Coyote much. In the past, I have lost use of spiritual/magical abilities after sharing in a less than spiritual forum. I hereby request the elders and spirits to hide any message from those who should not hear.

After several years on a plateau, I see my journey into spiritual knowledge and practice resuming. I love the climbing hills as much as the resting on a plateau part. May you all experience the blessings of the universe in a pace and way that you can handle.

:Namaste:

Woodpeckers and sand baths.... nice. Sounds better than sharing ticks with humans.
