The Beauty Of The Changing Seasons

Thank you GrizzWald, you inspired me to take a walk in the morning mist while my bundt cake was baking:

[singing] He traveled all around the world, and everywhere he went, he'd use his word, and all would say, "There goes a clever gent!"

What was the word?

Sorry to disappoint canna, nothing to inspiring, just a touch of color . I promise I'll get some waterfalls and tree ferns by weeks end, busy busy at the moment, the Christmas rush.
Those morning photo are beautiful canna. I'd hang those on my wall. Wish I had something better to capture the colours than the phone, but, oh well, has to do for now...

This fella made me stop my car, as he lazily walked across the road. I watched him climb the tree, then we had a stare down

He then mooned me

Paint pot in hand, in lala land, go to walk onto step leading into the house, looked down, I jumped a mile. Only person at the property, but I still had to look around to make sure nobody seen me

It will do very nicely for now GW...very nicely indeed. :thanks:

Hey, Canna, that's just too easy. But it's early here and I'm too tired to type such a long word. And it's atrocious. And precocious. :laughtwo: :circle-of-love:

Im no good at riddles, but to guess would be, bird, cause haven't ya heard, everybody knows that bird is the word.:sorry::surrender::passitleft::geek:dum diddly Diddly, dum diddly eye.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I hadn't even thought about "The bird is the word"! After watching that on Family Guy, I got so sick of it I tried to push it out of my head. LOL

And I'm sure you have it Mr. Teddy.

Here's the clues (and answer) for the rest of you, it was a clip from a song in the Mary Poppins film about a word.....

And GrizzWald, thanks so much for those pics. The color is fabulous.
When I was in Australia twice, my hosts tried several times to get us out to get a pic of one of those in the wild without success. Well, we did see a couple, but they were well out of camera range. Closest we came to camera range was the signs on the roads warning of Koala crossings. LOL

I did get some great shots of one at a park, they were penned in. But I was just so excited to touch it and see it first hand instead of a photo. It's a cherished memory for sure.

:thanks:

The wood ducks have been on my pond the last couple of days, but they are camera shy and very elusive. I sure hope to get a shot before they head off to the winter homes.

And what kind of lizard is that? I have some pics from another nature center there with some lizards and they were really huge! I would have jumped two miles, not caring if anyone was watching. LOL

Edit: BTW, GrizzWald...your phone is doing wonderful. :)

Snowy owl's that lived with us through last winter. I spent a lot of time just watching these guys. I would bundle up really good, made a lazy boy out of snow and just chilled with some smoke. So peaceful! :tokin:

I picked about 15 photos from a bunch. I'll post in three segments. Hopefully they are all ok as I did some random cropping.

First up some shots I got while driving around looking for them. Right over and in front.

What a beautiful sight Smokey! You are so blessed to have several in your area. I see them here, but not by any kind of numbers.

Congratulations, you have done the seemingly impossible....you have given me something to look forward to this winter. LOL
I'll be watching for them for sure. Nice shots!

I always look forward to winter, then it really never comes. It's not warm enough to swim, or sun bathe, but it's too warm for a fire in the fireplace. A sprinkle of cold here and there, maybe even a few weeks of freezing, but March comes fast and we're back outside. I want seasons. Can't we move the seasons to Texas?

Aye.

Anyway, I updated with some bud porn on my journal if anyone is interested.

Mark and I have been delighting in not doing anything unless we want to do it. We get so much done that way. There is a lot of garden clean up to do and we did start doing it. So much raking to be done and for a tree I can't stand; a Hackberry. It drops ten billion berries, all germinate and it is a weeding bonanza nightmare.

We also started on the first area to be re-mediated for drainage. I took the leaves we raked so far, all mostly Live Oak (so very leathery) and raked them all to where we are going to put soil and retaining wall. I added all the soil from any containers I had around the property...which was a LOT. I mixed it all up and watered it. I checked this morning and the night crawlers are already by the dozens in a sq. ft. I have loads of fat night crawlers in our soil (for some reason).

Working feels good. Laughing and shmokin weed. Yeah. I love my life.

I was telling Smokey that there is a new addition to the wildlife here. I have a barn owl hanging around. I have never had those here, I think mostly because the barn was in use all of the time with some kind of avian creatures or horses.
This year it is being used to house the firewood, as a result the chipmunks and mice are busy in there. I believe that's what is attracting this owl. I'm going to be trying to time lapse with the camera overnight a few times and see if I can get any good action. Last night was nuttin', but I'll keep trying.

Hey Canna, the Birdcam I bought can be set to take video and photo at night in the dark either by movement or a set time, like every hour or ten times an hour, etc. I think we paid about 150, but I have seen them much less. The images are not perfect, by a long shot, but fun to see the night critters. I'm waiting on my Barred Owl. I hear him/her every night through my water closet vent. Very distinctive song that owl has.

I hope you catch him/her tonight! We used to have rodents in the yard. Many, many of them. No more. I have not seen one this entire year. Between the Redtail Hawk who scouts our yard daily or the Cooper's Hawk, Barred Owl, and snakes, they have no chance back there. This year I hope the female fox comes back and dens under our shed. She did that several times and the pups are so cute when they come out.

Gah, we have good lives. I wish everybody had a good life like this one we have here. So many people do not have the energy to discuss anything. They are starving or thirsty. Imagine dying of thirst? Sort of puts everything into perspective.

Garden Fair, it is so nice to hear you and hubby are out and about.
You've said he's not the gardening type, so encourage him to relax some. :)

SmokesDa !

Magnificent!

As a city boy, I have only seen a glimpse of two of those little ground dwelling owls in Arizona.
A larger owl passed close at night once, but I more felt it than heard or saw it.

I'll be feeding the rodents again this winter, so maybe an owl will visit and be visible.
