The 4x4 Grow Tent Club

I pulled a big one. Something I preach on to my helper all the time. Not had the parts to finish the drip system, have been hand watering. So last Tuesday when I hand watered I noticed that the EC was off the charts, I had just watered. So I decided to do a flush on the next watering and I waited too long. That watering was on Friday.
I let my coco get to dry, not to that point though, so was able to re-hydrate with only minor damage to the plants. Mainly looks like a Cal/Mag issue.
So I removed some of the damaged leaves, and began feeding with lite nutes/pH'ed solution with added Subculture M and Great White to rebuild the root system.
Still working on the changes to the drip system. Ordered parts are late and some where wrong and they had to resend them, got everything today.
Am also worried about my pumps pressure. What pumps are you guys using for drip.

Last harvest. Two plants 13oz a plant. 4x4 tent, 1000w HPS, soil, General Organics nute line.

Nice-looking harvest! Congratulations. I always knew 1,000 watts was the right amount for 16 square feet of space, lol. That's... 62½ watts per square foot. You could probably have increased your gross yield ( /grams per watt) by using the light in a somewhat larger space - but I'm guessing your buds are noticeably denser than they'd have been in a larger space.

I read, somewhere, that when a person allowed their coco coir to dry out, they could end up with "dry pockets" that could be difficult to deal with (in other words, that they might stay dry). If you think about it when you harvest, could you dig through yours and let me know whether or not you see any dry areas?

Mainly looks like a Cal/Mag issue.

Ah, coco coir's penchant for "stealing" calcium (and, to a lesser extent, magnesium) ions strikes again? What does a person do in order to fix this one? I know that, initially, he/she can - and should - soak the stuff in a dilute calcium nitrate solution with a little magnesium sulfate thrown in, but I assume that's not a viable cure when there is a plant living in the medium. Do you just keep feeding with elevated levels of calcium and magnesium? Will you reach a "saturation point" (bad choice of terms, I know, but I cannot think of the correct one) where the coco coir stops "stealing" from your nutrients?

I don't have much in the way of "coco coir knowledge." But I have a block of the stuff around here, somewhere, so I should probably be trying to learn more about it.

Fortunately it was not totally dry, so I think I will be okay.
It is for sure Cal/Mag issue.
As far as reaching a "saturation point", I really don't know. I use either rain water or RO water, so I add Cal/Magic and Epsom at 1 ml and I gram respectively. This has always worked for me. So yes i don't think it reaches a saturation point.

I havnt tried a bigger space yet but I did run this set up under 600w hps. I had plenty of Larfy buds. I change some pruning and ran the 1000w with significant improvements. I’m loving my new canopy temps after getting through summer. Still getting warmed up and learning.

Just curious what distance you ran 1000 at from the canopy?

I'm running at 20 inches and I'm tempted to bring it in closer but I don't want to bleach it either.
My current canopy temps are around 73f

Scroll back a hair and you will see my plants stretched a lot more on me than I wanted. I’ll bet you it wasn’t but 20 inches but I was paying a lot in air conditioning trying to control temps. My canopy was above 83 some days. I noticed some small signs of heat stress but I would have been happier with more room.

My flower 4x4 tent..

I hear you on the a.c.. I love these fall temps. No need for a.c. until next spring.
I'll check thru the thread.

So I'm at day 26 of flower and I'm really leaniming towards lollipoppimg the lower stuff and giving her 1 more defoliation to open up budsites.
The God's gift bx1 in my veg room is almost ready to be cloned.
I'll get some pics up later today when lights come on.

Today I put the plants on the screens, kinda small to do it but will not hurt them.

This is one of the 5 that has giving me fits over Cal/Mag. I think I got it under control now, will see.

Still looking to get some info from you folks on pumps for drip.

OK, change in irrigation system. Day 25 of veg. Increased the rez from a two rez system with a capacity of 15 to 20 gallons to a single 35 gallon rez, running around 25 gallons in the tank.
Went with a 12V, 1 gallon per minute, @ 80 psi, 120V to 12V reducer and a 30 psi pressure reducer.

A bit cleaner setup, no more drip ring, using adjustable stream heads.

This manifold is from my original setup from years ago when I was growing in my DIY cabinet, I kept it and glad I did.

Got roots? Just love my Smart Pots, Canna Coco and Great White!

Did a test run, this new system seems to wet the medium more even than past methods.
The plants are, as stated previously, very Indica dominate. One is 21 inches, two more of the 5 are just under that and the last two are around 16 inches. As fast as they took off after germination I expect them to be growing more.
If you have grown Big Buddha Cheese what are your experiences?

Great start. I’d work on ventilation and after early veg you will want to be ready to add more light. Enjoy your new hobby !
