THC Bomb & WW/Skunk - CFL Hood/Veg HPS/Flower

no, should I? I shake the shit out of the jug before a feeding, but that's it. When the plants get bigger, they will obviously consume it quicker diminishing the issue. I suppose I can put the nutes into another small pail to sit with the airstone.

The reason I asked is because I used to use an airstone in my res when I first connected the Ebb&Flow and noticed the pH drift higher and quicker than without the stone. I think I concluded that it may be made of Calcium or some other cheap material as it didn't look up to standard quality.

Update, (14)/RD14,

I planted the THC Bomb into a RW cube and put that cup on the heat mat with a cover for a few days till she gets growing good.

sup dawg? i'm in. I've grown skunk before, I've grown thc bomb before, and I'm growing a widow now!

i'm eager to see how your thc bomb turns out. hopefully better than mine, and hopefully I can help you if you run into issues with it. it likes its nutes one way and one way only. she's very picky.

I can see already she is a high maintenance broad. 2nd seed, 2nd wait for a sprout. The WW/Sk#1 is already 2 1/2 weeks ahead of it, and it being my primary choice will likely dictate the flipping of light schedules. Any advice for sprouting in rock wool? I have her in cubes in a solo cup on a heat may with a jar flipped over on the cup to hold humidity. It is mostly shaded with minimal light exposure.

Whatever turns out, assuming this grow goes well, I really think you'll like what I have planned. I'm shooting for 2 weeks to seed, 8 for veg and 8 for flower. I know it will vary probably greatly, but it's a starting point. I will be topping both early to form the Flux and spread it out just like LA is doing with his. I plan to finish them each in a 5 gallon bucket of cubes, and once they have spread out enough to flip, they will just grow straight up like a SOG. I'm thinking 16-18 branches per plant, then intertwine their legs (one plant to another) and flower 4 rows of large single cola branching, each row with 8 or 9 branches. It looks really nice in my mind.

shit, run that high maintenance bitch out. her bud is nice lol

super skunk is that killer, she STINKS when shes really ripe.

I'm gonna have to work on containing that, hope I can build a box to quiet my fan down substantially to even be applicable for this grow.

Hey, does anyone have an opinion on premixing a gallon of nutes to 100% recommended strength with additional silica, CaMg and Aqua Shield, then in a separate mixing container, mix the nute solution with RO or distilled to hit a desired PPM, then adjust pH? Would this be an efficient way to feed? It makes sense to me as that is what the product manufacturers call for in their recipe, plus I'd be able to easily feed 2 different aged plants different PPM levels.

I have, but some fans were not designed to have amperage decreased and damage to the motor can occur in some.

Just a thought
Do you know the make and model of your fan? I would advise looking into fan speed voltage controller, these are quieter and more reliable compared to the variable resistor type. Have a search on the net to see if your model is compatible with the voltage speed controllers.

I got a 400 CFM 6" iPower inline fan. The thing was about $70 with shipping and b/c it's a cheapo compared to the competition, I doubt it will be compatible. I will look and hopefully I'm wrong.

Thanks for the feedback BTW!

It may sound efficient initially, but once those plants start feeding more regularly you are going to be premixing nutes till you turn grey! I tend to just mix my PARTS to the strength and PPM called for that week and the measurements usually only change by the ml. The only problem I see with premixing your nute in advanced and dial in in the PPM individually per plant THIS early in the grow is the fact your res of premixed nutes will have to sit and might not get used quickly enough compared to the amount of times you will need to water. At least when you have the E&F setup, the nute feed in the reservoir gets recirculated at least once a day, aerating and moving everything around.

At the moment, it looks like THC bomb #2 is also a no show, (but I accidentally tipped the cup over and lost track of which cube has the bean). The WW/Skunk is moving along nicely and as soon as I can grab a clone to put right into flower after rooting, I will to determine the sex. I will just mix nutes for the plant I have growing and if the Tbomb eventually does sprout, I will just use some of the nutes mixed for the WW/Sk (watered down to make the target PPM range, then slowly increase till they are at the same strength.

I contacted the distributor of my fan to see if a voltage controller can be used with the fan they sold me. Hope they reply with good news.

Update (18)VD04,

This is just a general update and picture show as there is nothing really new with the grow. I had a small mishap in that I was stewing the THC Bomb seed (with 1/8" taproot) in a cup of DIY grow cubes (chopped clone blocks) in a solo cup, on a heat mat inside a small 3 gallon tote. I moved the tote and the cup inside fell over mixing the cubes about like dice. I pulled the cubes back in the cup and am hoping for the best. If it don't grow, I will probably wait a couple weeks and try to open another of the Fem seeds and have a staggered grow, but definitely not until I have the other box I wanna build, built.

As for this WW/Skunk Jean Gal, she's growing rather well. I added some hydroton to the top to block light as the cubes were starting to get algae. She will get her 2nd dose of Heisenberg Tea tomorrow afternoon sometime. Thus far, I have been giving her 2 feedings a day of the premix of 1 gallon distilled with 30% recommended strength GH Flora Series, CaMg (80%), silica (50%), Aqua Shield (80%), and about 50ml each feeding. When I do feed after adding the rocks, I've been slurping up the runoff and sending it through a second or third time to evenly wet the medium. All in all, the medium can only hold 35-40ml of liquid, so frequency of feedings will be increasing within a week, or as soon as I get the top feed and drain all worked out.

I also plan to top her tomorrow or the day after. The red line indicates topping just above the 3rd node, and yellow the 4th. I want to keep the plant as short as possible, but I really want adequate amount of foliage left to be able to quickly recover. I will probably take it at the red line though, what do you think? The clear container will be the next size I plan to transplant to. Cap'n says using many pot sizes helps the roots to become better established and I think will also better fill the medium in the entire container as opposed to DWC where the roots just run straight to the drink and populate there. A broader root system will have more surface area with which to uptake more water, O2 and nutrients, so this grow should be very fun and educational for me. I also found some literature on the net suggesting the tea can last longer if refrigerated, so after this feeding, I may chill a dose or 2 till the middle of the week to repopulate the colony.

I also began work on a box for my fan to deaden some of the noise. I will once again try to incorporate my inner wall ducting idea into this next box. Hopefully that will help to absorb some decibels being emitted and also provide max air flow to and from wherever. Heck if somebody wins the lottery and gives me a little bit, I'd like to get me one of those wireless appliance controllers to allow me to manage most of my grow from my cell phone, and if the grow is noisy, I could adjust fan settings or even turn it off in real time w/o getting off my ass. I also built a Flux table that will hold the solo cup (or whatever larger pot I use) and have something I can tie branches to.

And the pics,

Niceely done Sky! I would cut at the yellow line for fastest recovery time, but considering you are not going to use any branching below the node you cut, why not cut right below the red line where two nodal branches have already formed? Don't take my absolute word for it as I have never 'Fluxed' before, but wouldn't this make for less cutting in the future?

I like the Flux table. What are your plans for transplanting different pot sizes though, while incorporating it?

Well I have gardeners wire for the LST and it easily unties so I'll just have to go about it several times very carefully. Since you brought that up, I may have to limit the amount of pot sizes I use, so maybe 4 or 3 transplants will suffice. I am also considering tying a thin rod right along the split main branch. This doesn't do much for the side branches, but at least the main one could be held in position while transplanting or partial pot rotation.

I had a noise issue with my inline fan, but I made a super cheap fix that is still posted up on my pineapple chunk/tangerine dream grow log. I bought a duct muffler and a Rubbermaid container. Cut holes on each side of the tub and put the fan and duct muffler inside then filling the container with blankets, but now using acoustic foam. My 6 inch about 430cfm fan is less quiet then a desk top fan now.
