THC Bomb & WW/Skunk - CFL Hood/Veg HPS/Flower

Looks good, Sky. Pretty cool mini drip ring you made. For me, I like to hand water in veg. If you decide you don't want to mess with the auto feeder for the top cabinet, you could always use a drip tray, (like the kind that goes under a planter), or use a bucket lid, and then when you hand water, a little will collect in the tray, and then the plant will take up that extra throughout the day. I do it this way a lot. It's so simple and works great.

I'm 99% sure the spots on your lower leaves are from nutrients splashing on the leaves, drying, and dehydrating little spots. Nothing to worry about at all. I would keep the PPM at 500 or below right now, and you won't have to worry about dehydrating any leaves.

Looking a little droopy in those pictures... I'm assuming that's because it was close to bedtime when you took these pictures? I would be tempted to take the terminal shoot off those two tallest branches, and then start 12/12. You will be surprised how big it will get!

When are you starting flower?

Do you have another seedling behind the scene?

Yeah, it was pretty late at night when I got mostly done. The ring works perfect and I also increased the duration of feeding time from one minute to two minutes. I am planning to swap out the res tomorrow and brew a new batch of tea. I will begin transition feed (1-1-1) then as well. I'm going to see about converting my HID to be used with DIY reflector today. That would make my harvest soooo much better as it's nearly 300 watt increase in lumen generation potential. I don't have another yet, but if/when I do, I don't want to then trying to iron out all these wrinkles. ik am even considering adding another layer of cardboard to give each offsetting slotted vents, but I'll have to wait till I get the converter to poke holes anywhere. It'll come around in due course. Also forgot to mention that my buddy gave me 2 LED clusters with 12 diodes each. Very bright little things and they're supposed to replace interior dome lights in cars. Don't know color wattage yet, but I hope they can be used to add lumens in the upper room. For all you movie buffs, what comedy used the terminology "THE UPPAH ROOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!" in the dialogue? The first answer correctly wins a Sky Five! That's a high five, but from my hand.

I was thinking that would only be fair. Hopefully I can work this HPS into the setup cause I was able to extract it from my hood. Also noticed my HPS bulb is only 2,100k, so I hope this flowers well.

<<Dank knows what direction of flow means, don't ya buddy?
Absolutely sir, though I'm leaving that business behind me, at least for a minute. I know it sounds crazy, in the midst of this boom, but I would rather turn a wrench than stress myself about making other people millions. I am pretty damn good at directing flow, but just tired of wearing myself out. If you ever need a gig, I can definitely hook you up though, still have plenty of contacts in the OF.

Update 11/24 Week 03 (37)/VD23,

Today I swapped out the res and brewed a new batch of tea. I just took some pics and noticed the plant is looking rather well. Perhaps the pH flush had a positive effect on the grow? Color is being restored to that nice even green and stretch is also evident. The lowest leaf set on the lowest branches have had almost constant contact with the medium and I am now convinced the nute burns on those leaves is from the splash back. Those lowest are now earmarked to become cuttings and that will open up the under carriage a little bit as well. Something else I noticed is that this plant is pretty flexible and pliable IMO. I think she really wanted me to Flux her cause she's holding that spread at least for the time being. I unloosed the LST yesterday and she stayed right the way I left her. I also notice that branches bend very easily with little resistance. It's not that different than bending gardeners wire or solder wire. I wasn't trying to redirect a branch, just wanted to see if her limbs were hardening yet, which they weren't. As soon as I get a few bucks, I'm gonna head up the hydro shop to get some 1/4" shutoff valves to manage the res better. I want to have the ability to pump the res out w/o removing any feed lines I have around the crown plus also be able to circulate the res to better mix nutes for changes. Since I have a 5/16" hole poked in the top to access the res for testing and nute adds, I want to also use this hole to receive the drain tube and allow the res to circulate itself.

Res;
2 gallons distilled water (3rd unmixed gallon on standby)
15ml Aqua Shield
10ml GH/GO CaMg
03ml Flora Micro
03ml Flora Gro
03ml Flora Bloom
PPM - 500, pH 5.9

Think I'm gonna do another 15 minute wash to adjust.

yup

Emergency res change. After battling the pH by adding up to 80 drops of pH down to no avail, I had to look in the res. Does anyone wanna take a stab at what caused this mess? The products that I use include;

GH Flora Micro
GH Flora Gro
GH Flora Bloom
GH/GO CaMg (GH's organic calcium magnesium additive)
Aqua Shield
Distilled water

In a separate container, Heisenberg tea is made and added twice weekly, but liquid only.

Distilled water
Ancient Forest
Molasses
Great White Mycorrhizae
Aqua Shield

I washed all the crud out and mixed some H2O2 with tap water to sterilize the container and pump. I also cycled the pump in a sink full of water to break up any possible gunk inside. I am inclined to believe that I did not flush to rock wool enough to wash most of the dust out. Also, I think the Organic CaMg may also have something to do with all this mess. I will shine a light in the res after every time I empty it to monitor crud build up.

Sky,

It's not rockwool dust. Here's my suggestion, take it or leave it. Make up a few gallons of your normal recipe. Put a lid on it to keep light out. Hand feed to WASTE for the next couple weeks. It doesn't use any more water than using a res.

If you don't think that's a good idea.... go back and read some of my articles. The ONLY time I recirculate in veg, is when I'm going out of town for more than a couple days.

Hand water that puppy, then kick back, fire up, and stop stressing.

Tiny crusher went to 12/12 yesterday. She hasn't had anything but hand water to waste.

I could do that, but only sometimes. If too many people are here, I won't even go in there as doing so in itself makes noise, but also the fans make more noise so I pick and choose my times carefully. Sucks that I live this way, but I've had many long years witnessing the ways people get caught and I just take every precaution I can take, but still get to the finish line if at all possible. Perhaps I should just redirect the drainage to another bin? I did pick one up today thinking I was gonna have to junk the other. Then when the first empties, I could prep the waste for consumption again? The shortest length of duration I could manage is 1 minute, though I have it set at 2 minutes now. The first week Iran top feed, res was empty in 3-4 days. I need a week from each so I will have to recycle at least once. I did correct the problem and only cycled for 15 minutes, but the next feeding isn't for another hour and a half. Perhaps I will do the 2nd catch res till I hear back.

that will work, as long as you can limit the amount of water. It seems like 1 min would be too long.

Look in that mess of stuff I sent you. There should be some 1/4" flow restrictors in there.

Just before this evening's feeding @ 5:00, I adjusted pH to 5.9. I just checked it now some 5.5 hours later and it went all the way up to 6.9. It does this with every feeding. I am apparently doing something very wrong. I did not drain off into another res like I was going to. Also notice that the plant is in need of a larger pot size already so at least a bit of good news. The leaves of the lowest branch look like absolute hell. Nute burned very badly. Leaves are withered pretty bad, but that has held to the lowest branches so I was planning to leave that alone and not have the plant redirect that pain onto newer branches.

After speaking with the guy at the hydro store, and also AG via PM, I am beginning to think that I am using too much molasses in the tea, plus also the molasses and cane sugar that is in the CaMg might just be adding to that burden. This is the only possible explanation I can think of as to why I am having these severe pH issues. I can't imagine the tea is doing anything because of the pH constantly going up and me constantly pulling it back down. That can't be good for the bennies. I will continue to do the best I can with what I have and hope it all works itself out. If I fuck this one up too, I'm getting a chea pet.

Edit -Also, does anyone have a clue why there is a thick white foam collecting on the side above the water level? It looks as if slime from my dog's jowls landed there.

Bro, don't stress too much over the pH. I know it's costing you in terms of pH down or lemon juice (I personally buy a gallon of vinegar every week to battle my issues...pH down is just too costly), but I'm sure we are right on the assumption of our brand of CaMg.

CHHH CHHH CHHH CHHEAAAA :high-five:

I am just confused about the "rule" for using pH down. It is often said to only use it once per day. If I do that, 2 of 3 daily feedings will be above 7.0. If I continue, I'm pretty sure I am killing my bennies. Am I missing anything so far?
