I haven't looked at the roots yet. When she first sprouted and the roots were jumping from cube to cube, they were blast white, but then I began to get algae on the cubes so I covered the top with hydroton and haven't seen the roots since. I will be taking pics when I transplant of course. I don't want to even pull the root ball out till I'm confident I'll need a transplant b/c I poked small holes in the side of the cup (mini air pot) and those indentations could snag the cubes on the way out and way back in if not root bound. My plan is to check by gently squeezing the cup to see if I can see down the inside. Once I know all the cubes are attached, I will TP into a pot that I won't poke holes in (1 gallon).
I thought a "scoop" was a TBSP?
I have a bottle of GW, and a sample pack of Sweet Mycos Tea.
I am currently using 1/5 of a teaspoon per gallon of great white. Should I adjust further?
1/5 teaspoon of great white sounds just fine. See my other post about the PH of the tea. I'll have to research that "sweet mycos tea". It looks interesting.
Who left their smokes at your house?
I also think I'll take the cutting tomorrow and top just above the 3rd node. I gotta first make a decent small clone dome from a soda bottle and whatever else i can find.
I'll try one more time to talk you out of this, and then I won't say anything else about it. I promise you, it will take a month before the clone shows you the sex.
1. Your plant will show sex in veg, before your clone roots and then matures enough to show sex. That is, if the clone makes it.
2. You will be taking the two biggest future branches off your nice plant you've worked so hard to grow.
3. While you're waiting for the clone to root and show sex, your mom plant will be too big to flower in your little cabinet.
4. If the plant you are growing is a girl, cutting the top 1/2 off this plant will delay the time it takes for you to be smoking some premium bud, by at least two weeks.
5. If the plant you are growing is a boy, you're wasting time right now. You should be popping more seeds, in case it is a boy.
6. Giving a MJ plant to a stoner seems like a good idea. So does giving a girl a puppy on her birthday.
With your plan, you're looking at THREE months (valentines day) before you harvest anything. If you're goal is to smoke some weed, here's what I would do:
1. Start a few more seeds today.
2. Top this plant, just the tip. Cut the smallest, lowest branch off it and start the clone in 18/6 (this will give you cloning practice). Then put the plant (not the clone) in flower NOW. Grow a REGULAR plant, without any crazy training methods or snake oil. Just follow a simple recipe, and within two weeks you will know if it's a girl. If so, within two months you and your roomies will be kicking back, enjoying a ZIP of some premium smoke. And you will then have the experience of a full grow in cubes, under your belt. Give some to your girl, and you will have even more under your belt.
3. If it's a boy, you will know in just two weeks! and you can repeat the process with your next plant, from the seeds you started in step 1.
4. If it's a girl, now you have some FOR SURE smoke on the way, meanwhile, you have two months to PLAY with the rooted clone (that you know is a girl). Chop it up, experiment with it, hang Christmas decorations on it, train it to look like a dragon... whatever. Since you have smoke on the way, you lots of time to do your experiments with the next one.
5. If it's a girl, after two months, then flower the clone that you've been training, and go for a 6 zipper, or more!
I know you are somewhat of a perfectionist, and a 1zip, regular plant, is not exciting to you. I also know you have past experience, but it will still be good to get this cube grow under your belt. In addition, your grow will attract a lot of attention, as there are a ton of people out there with similar situations like yours (limited space) who will follow your lead. This is just my suggestion as to what I would do if I were you. Do what you want, and I promise I won't bug you anymore about it. Either way, I'll be cheering you on.
