ThatOneGuyy's First Lemon Skunk Indoor Grow

Freshly cut clones have no way of getting water so the first few days youwanna keep the medium and environment as humid as possible. You mist the dome and keep the medium wet and they should thrive. You can buy a dome at a hydro store for like six bux.
Cuttings stuck into wet medium do draw water up the stem, but slowly. They will recover turgidity after wilting when the air gets less arid. They don't need nutrients; the lower leaves on the cutting sacrafice themselves to feed the plant while the buried stem forms roots. I never spray any foliage with water or anything else, at any stage of life.

Nice looking Skunk  Do they smell good, too?
+ reps to you

Whats up Gator! :thankyou: Yes, They smell delicious. They have a clean citrus scent to them. Especially if I am thinning back some fan leaves(Which I just got done doing) They are finally getting some visible frostiness too! I am exactly two weeks from the first day of flower and I have to say wow.

I think I will have a nice harvest by end of november. Im really excited for that.

I am also putting down the rooted clones into my flower room on Tuesday and two more rooted clones(Since two more are rooted finally) the following Tuesday after that.

I discovered something for myself and someone can gladly correct me if Im wrong but it seems there is a way to tell if your clones are rooting in a rockwool medium. I have noticed that if a clone has a good chance of rooting when the lower part of the stem DOES NOT swell. I have five clones that aren't in pots yet. two of which have just shown roots from either the side or bottom of my rockwool. The other three have this swelling effect that is moving up the stalk of the clone. I suspect that the cause of the swelling is the skin of the stem under the surface is too hard to break by root spikes so it just starts to swell. I am going to check a swollen one next week for roots.

I guess I will have an experiment on my hands.:tokin:

Mini Update: So I took a few closeup shots so you can see the Trichome production. It looks pretty nice and it can only get better from here.

Thanks man! The kind words mean a lot considering how amazing your girls look in your journal.

Yeah I have been looking into using molasses mixing with my grow. My feed days are Tuesdays so I will adjust my feed. I planned on boosting my bloom formula today and cutting back on the N so it will be a very busy day Tuesday. I gotta go shopping today or tomorrow for some stuff I need.:thumb:

beautifullllllllll cant wait to get to that point bro im jealous :tokin:

Those pistils are at attention. They look so healthy and even in size and shape. Great job!

Looks nice man.
But be careful saying, the trichomes will only get better, when they dont have enough nutrients they will use that energy to produce more buds, so resin will dissapear.
Once plants start second and third node growth, they will also use resin as well as nutrients/sugars in leaves. Keep nutrients up till 6th week helps them building buds without using much resin at all. After passing breeders harvest date, they will be starting 3th and 4th node growth, metabolism will change, despite you adding any nutrients, in fact most of those nutrients will not be used efficiently anymore, it will afflict taste and effect.

That's why it is rather important to harvest them on time for best resin/THC effect.
Most of buds weight is in resin, after harvest time they will consume resin and also still using leaf sugars if left, to form more buds, but more fiber-like buds, instead of weight caused due to a lot of resin.

So size may increase, but weight may stay roughly the same. People wanting more CB(x) like stuff in there can keep going a bit longer, but it would be better to choose a different strain instead of harvesting a very high THC plant late. You will be smoking more fiber instead of resin.

Haha thanks man! Soon enough you will be there. I am now at the point where it really tests my patience. :thumb:

:thankyou: I am excited to see what kind of smoke I get from these girls. The anticipation is killing me. :lot-o-toke:

Thanks 70sG! Im really happy with my luck on these girls. Im quite surprised how they are turning out. the next few weeks I predict some major swelling so I can't wait for that.:tokin:

Thanks for the tip Phd! I make sure to adjust my nutes accordingly. Im boosting my P and K while cutting back on the N. I also boost my Cal/Mag and I will start adding a molasses feed day as well. I have been reading the benefits of it so It will be something I add to my routine. :tokin:

Notice: Hey guys, I was really busy today so a pic update that I usually do on Tuesday will be done tomorrow.

One thing I can say today though Is I got something for my next grow in the mail today and here it is:

I hope I can do this wonderful product the justice it deserves. Thanks Corey!:thumb:

Fantastic!!! I received mine yesterday. Just waiting for some seedlings to mature a little and I will using the Blue Planet Organic also.

When do you plan to start?... Looking forward watching this is.

I will start my first round of nutrients for my Hindu Kush next week Tuesday. I will also start them on my two Lemon Skunk clones that I have running on the same day.

I have three new Lemon Skunk seedlings that I have starting in rockwool right now and once they hit about five nodes up I will start them on BPN as well. Once my new seeds get here and I germ them I will be starting a Second Journal running down the details of my new grow. Till then, I just Update what I got in here for now.

In a nutshell. I will be revamping my post layout and photo labeling to keep things as organized as possible for the next grow. I have learned a lot and I picked up some things along the way so my next grow will showcase that.

Pic Update: 10/26/2011

I will say it now to get it out of the way but sorry for the poor quality in photos today. I'm not in the best of moods. I wasn't gonna spend 2 hours trying to get quality shots with poor lighting and another hour on editing them.

A lot has changed since the last time I had a pic update so I have a bit to talk about. (This post will be quite long winded so I won't hold it against you if you decide to just look at the pics)I am also working on a stable post layout that will keep everything as organized as possible to make things clean and simple.

Flowering: Lemon Skunk

I am on week3 of flowering and I have to say im really impressed how these are coming out. Main concerns that I have thus far is the smell. They are getting really strong and some mornings you can smell it all the way out in the hall! Since the weather is changing, temps are not a concern but I will have ample ventilation by next spring/summer if not earlier.

#1: She put on so much weight this week and top colas are swelling a lot. I had an issue when removing them from my grow space to go over and search for pollen sacks (since it is a hermie after all) when I accidently snagged one of the top colas on my bookshelf. It didn't cause visible damage to the stalk but it did cause a mild lean to the cola. Before future problems arise, I will brace it before it gets too heavy. The stems of the fan leaves are such a strong red it looks amazing. (I will get a pic of that later) Other than that, trichome production is going crazy especially on the center cluster on both main colas.

I will get some closeups of some colas when my tripod gets delivered.

#2: Getting really dense and thick buds all along the top cola. Doesn't have as much trichome coverage as #1 but it is getting there. In terms of trichome production, she is about 5days behind #1. Other than that, she is looking really healthy with nice fat buds. I am also thinking about trimming some inner branches and lower ones that aren't doing all that great in bud/trichome production because I feel they wont make for quality smoke anyways and it is taking energy away from flowers that actually will be good.

Flowering: Lemon Skunk Clones

They are on day2 of 12/12 and are already showing new growth. They haven't preflowered yet but I predict that will happen once they start stretching. They all look healthy and I have high hopes for them.

Lemon Skunk Clones:

I have three more clones that are rooted but they are very slow at developing past the rockwool. I know they are rooted for the simple fact that new growth is already apparent on them. These will go down into my flower room once I see roots. I have ruled these out to be poor potential mothers so I won't bother doing something other than flower them.

Vegetative: Lemon Skunk Clones

These are the two clones I decided to try and get a viable mother from. I will let these veg along with my other plants that I plan on mothering as well. I have one clone from #1 and one from #2. I am leaning towards #1 clone as the mother because of the massive trichome production that the main plant is showing.

Vegetative: Hindu Kush

I don't know how I feel about these. since these were free seeds I don't see these as being too strong in my eye. They aren't showing signs of greatness to me but I may be wrong. I won't give up on them but they just don't seem to be as strong as my Lemon Skunk were.

#1: Strongest of the three. Leaves are healthy minus a bit of issue on one of the lower three fingered leaves. I will top this one in the next week or so because for the most part, she is staying quite short.
IMG_13116.JPG

#2: Not really my favorite of the trio but node structure is tight so I can't ask for much more. The leaves were oddly shaped at first but it is finally picking up.
IMG_131011.JPG

#3: Topped this one early because it was stretching way too much. I am thinking about doing a pseudo-tranplant and take off the bottom inch of soil and fill in the top to bury the stem a bit. The bottom portion of the stem is thin and I feel that it might might support new top growth if it doesnt thicken up.

Seedlings: Lemon Skunk

These are the Lemon Skunk seeds I recently germed. One died from cracking the seed and another just isn't cutting it. Three of the five survived so I am not complaining. They will go down in 1gal pots in the next few days or so. when I buy some better labels for my plants.

Final Thoughts:

For those who have followed my Journal the whole time will notice I have been changing things up as I see things I like in all these wonderful journals out there. One thing you will see on my next pic update will be the addition of photo labels completely inspired by Twelve12 I love organization and he has the right idea with everything. He was also the one that has inspired me to adopt the "Gas Lantern Routine"

Aside from all that. I will be starting my new journal sometime in November and it will be a BPN journal. That is all I got for now.

:peacetwo: and stay medicated. :lot-o-toke:
