ThatOneGuyy's First Lemon Skunk Indoor Grow

Nice work bro taken them pics to another level excellent work :thumb:

Loving the ladies frosting time!

:welldone:

Thanks GodSpeed! I'm still working on learning how to edit but I will refine it eventually.

lovin your plants bro

Thanks Buddy! I'm glad you love them. I Love them myself:circle-of-love: Truly a labor of love went into my girls.

Mini Update: A few things to report because I was a bit lazy to do much yesterday so I thought I would catch everyone up as to what I got going on in my world, so here it goes.

#1 is putting on a lot of weight, so much that the Colas are starting to bend slightly. I will be bracing them in the next few days with ties. Only downside to that is, I like removing them from the room once in awhile to take photos and get a better reading of what my girls are doing so this will be something I have to work around.

#2 Finally putting on some top weight as well. Was a bit slow starting to frost but now it is finally picking up. A few things I am thinking that is causing the difference in trichome production is either:
  • Genetics
  • Many more smaller bud sites to share plant energy compared to #1

Either way, she looks really good and healthy. can't wait to harvest that top cola.

Flowering Lemon Skunk Clones:
They are on day of 12/12 and they are finally working on their stretch. They each have gained about 2" so far and I am hoping they get over a foot at least. If they don't I won't be too bummed but I see it as a learning experience for next time.

Next time I will let them veg for 1-2 weeks before 12/12. Since I will be running a sog soon and it will be a 1gal sog, the pots are 7" tall and at the highest point my lamp can go still leaves me with about 4' of clearance. That means I have plenty of space for these girls to stretch and I will factor that into my new setup once that gets going.

Hindu Kush: They are looking good and I finally topped all of them. #1 is having a bit of an issue with some leaves and I will show that in the pic update on Tuesday.

#2's inner branch growth after topping is by far the slowest of them all. I feel this one might be a bit slow to develop but we will see in the coming weeks.

#3 was topped on 10/26 and the growth is finally picking up. Within a week or so, the new tops will be tall enough to get some aggressive LST going. Very busy couple weeks coming up.

Also, I purchased a Hepa Filter for my room. I am right off a main street and dust from the road and the surrounding trees makes my room a problem for my plant. I don't want bad particles getting stuck to my smoke.

(I am going out right now but I will continue this update once I get home. Gotta run some errands and I don't have enough time to finish this.)

Mini Update Cont.: Well I'm back to finish this already long winded update. Not much else to say so I will finish it up.

Lemon Skunk Seedlings: They went down into some party cups today. I realize that If everything is in a 1gal pot straight from seedlings, my veg room will fill up way too quick. I might invest in a cheap light fixture and run CFL's for veg instead of a T5. I'm looking into how much everything will come up, cost wise to see my best value.

Also, the two clones I am running to become possible mothers are also doing nicely. A few browning spots on earlier leaves but those should die off soon. New growth is looking healthy so I am not worried.

I think that's all I got for now. Full pic update will be on Tuesday.

:peacetwo: and stay medicated. :lot-o-toke:

I have a 2' x 4.5' closet with a head-high shelf. Two 4' twin-tube shoplights have been constantly on up there for a couple of years. It is a kind & nurturing place that I will not upgrade; the high-CRI Phillips T8 tubes were the upgrade. They will dim one year, and will be replaced with the same.
$30 each for the fixtures @HoDepo, + $5 each for the tubes.

you ever just felt your buds that are growin? just to feel the sticky success? i would :p

Great photos. I like the strain and plant # in the lower left. I am finding myself checking pics in my first grow to gauge progress in my second grow. Labeling the pictures would certainly help with that.

Is it difficult or time consuming to do?

Looking forward to Tuesday pic updates!

So T8's are intense enough for a veg room? It seems like it would be cheaper than running a million CFL's.

The Lemon Skunk looks great. Like the way you ID the plants in your photos! :}

Haha Thanks! You have inspired it. That and to strive for better quality photos. :thankyou:

I did it the other day but carefully. They are really dense even though they are still early stages. Pistils are barely changing colors so they still have plenty of time left before they are ready.

They smell so good. Some days they smell like citrus and very clean and others they smell like a skunk rolled around in some gas and frolicked through a citrus grove. Either way I love it. Reminds me that I'm doing something right. :lot-o-toke:

Well the most difficult part has got to be the learning curve. Messing around with photoshop for the first time, I had no idea what I was doing. Thankfully my girl knew how to do these things and she taught me a lot.

Knowing what tools you need to use is key to creating it. Also, making sure you use the right tools(In photoshop) to crop. If you use the windows gallery fix function, the pics you "Crop" are actually just selected and zoomed in. I am still learning that but if you use the crop tools in PS you can choose the amount of pixels per area to keep your photos exact. If you don't do that the labeling boxes will all come out different sizes if you don't dial it in.

To label in PS(completely inspired by Twelve12) two main tools are used. Marquee and gradient tool. I would go into a more detailed description but I'm really just a beginner when it comes to photo editing.

8-12 bulb cfl fixture cost around $30-40
8 bulb: 14,000lm
12 bulb: 21,000lm

You can get a bathroom vanity fixture at HD for $10-$20 and buy y splitters to double the bulb count

or use power strips w/outlet to bulb adapters & y splitters

I'm actually thinking of buying a HO T5 as well but not ready to spend the money unless it will be a significant upgrade from my cfls even though its less lumens

I am torn between costs as well. I can pick up a 4'x6bulb T5 for 150 at my local Hydro shop but it is just for veg. I flower with a HPS anyways so I don't know. If the veg growth is that greatly affected from T5 to CFL well I will have to reconsider but If anything i can just supplement my T5 light with some CFL's on each side to get more coverage.

Question Time: Recently I haven't had many questions to ask but I thought I'd bring this up now.

Tomorrow Is of course feed and pic update day for me and I was wondering that now that I have BPN products which are organic nutrients and I have been using Non-organic nutrients this far.

Would it be wise to do a flush before switching to the new organic Nutrients?

I have been having some yellow spotting on #1 throughout the leaves and its not serious but I think that a flush would do some good at this point. I haven't flushed ever so maybe this is a good time to start.

If anyone has any input on this I would great appreciate it!:Namaste:

Flushing's like changing the oil in your car; never hurts. Water's cheap :peace:

i'd flush em, that way you can get rid of any salt build up deposits in your soil, and it'll give the BPN nutes free reign

Sounds good guys! I will be flushing my main plants tomorrow instead of feeding them. I will adjust my schedule a bit to compensate for the flush.:thumb:

I agree on the flush. It's always a good idea when drastically changing nutes. If you want, you can add the new BPN nutes immediately after the flush.

Should I just flush with normal tap water or should I let some water set out( like a couple gallons)

Also, Should I wait until the soil dries a bit before feeding? Wouldn't the soil be saturated to the point where it will not retain any water thus cause the nutes to run out ?

Never flushed before so I kinda need some input.

It's okay to flush with tap water. No need to waste good water. Some choose to take their plants into a bath tub and run 3x as much water /volume as the pot. You can flush the last gallon of each pot with R.O. water too. Hope that doesn't sound confusing?

The end product of this "flush" with have your medium soggy, so wait to water it until top soil dries a bit.

Hopefully you get some smooth buds!

:Namaste:

TOG those clones look pro! where did you get that propagation dome and tray? also where do you buy rockwool, we dont have a local hydroponics store in my area and none of the lowes, homedepot, agway, etc stores dont carry hydroponic supplies. where do you get yours?

Well if you can't get some froma hydro store you can always pick some up online. Plenty of hydro sites sell it so if you don't wanna use soil or pellets you can get from a hardware store you can go to online hydro.

In all honesty, I prefer rapid rooter organic starter plugs. When rockwool is dry, the Dust that it gives off is tremendous. I Don't think I will be using Rockwool anymore. It is nice because you don't need a tray insert to hold the plugs because rockwool is square and they stay wet for quite awhile. It's just not something I will use again.

Plus when using rockwool you can't really see if they have taken root or not. I feel that roots take way too long and creep slowly through rockwool its just way too compact. My next investment will be in a DIY aero cloner which I won't need rockwool anymore. It will go straight from cloner to medium.

I also got the tray from a local shop so yeah. Thanks for the kind words on the clones! They are all actually working on vegging now and I have a few down in my flowerroom. I will show all of that tomorrow during my pic update.
