ThatOneGuyy's First Lemon Skunk Indoor Grow

Yeah for sure. Im hoping to find some velcro laying around. If not I will need to find at least 20bucks to get what I need. I think the starting part is the most expensive cause you have nothing but after a few grows it pays for itself. Hell, one successful grow and it pays for itself.

I am like 5 bills in total for everything.

Hey whats up TOG. I'm on my first journal as well. Sorry about the hermie, thats a bummer ! I think I have one going he-she on me as we speak but it is late in flower so hopefully it's just a swollen calyx or false seed pods.

I'm kinda in the same situation with the light proofing. I had my Veg room in my closet, but its being moved into a grow tent in my shed/greenhouse. Now that it's gonna be in the flower room, I need to make the tent 100% lightproof (which it is not) to avoid hermies

I'm going to cut a curtain of poly film to drape over the tent. If you have a hydro store near you they sell 10'x10' squares of poly film for like $10. You could cut strips of it, or a trash bag even, & tape or staple the strips along the cracks from the inside. So when you close the door, all the cracks will be covered. Don't forget to put a strip inbetween the door & the floor !

Best of Luck,
Stoned

Thanks for the tip, Stoned.

Mini Update: I was going over my flowering girls and I didn't need to go banana picking today. Hopefully I won't see too many throughout my grow. My girls are still stretching and #1 is pushing for 2.5' tall! #2 is pushing 2' tall as well. I am surprised how much they have stretched and I'm sure i have another week or two of stretching.

Clones: Six days after and all my clones seem to be doing great. They are still nice and green and looking healthy. I hope by next week I will see some roots. One of the #1 clones had a tiny spot of mold on the edge of the leaf. I trimmed the leaf back and i wiped the veg room to make sure that doesn't happen again. Since the temp is going back up, I forgot that i would need to vent the veg room. temps and Rh spiked so I'm pretty sure that was the cause of it. A few days into the "Gas lantern Routine" and no signs of stress, Yet(crossing my fingers)

Seedlings:
my three Hindu Kush seedlings are on day 13 from seed and are looking pretty good. One was mildly heat stressed but that was corrected today with the ventilation. #3 has stretched a bit more than the others and I am hoping the stalk starts to thicken as leaf development progresses. Nothing much else to say about them until they start to veg.

I will keep reporting on everything I am doing over the next few days. I have a lot of stuff to do this weekend so I might not be around. I will be lurking and will resume activities once i get everything done.

That's all for now.:thumb::peacetwo::lot-o-toke:

light leaks definitely turn them to hermies, had it happen to me before i started coverin mines, and it only happened to the plant that had the spot of light on it, but if i was you i would go buy a big enough tarp to cover your closet and then when the lights are on just tack a side open, and thats why im glad my cab is the size it is, all i gotta do is drape a couple towels over it and im good, but good luck with it, im sure you'll figure somethin out.. :tokin:

The masses have spoken!!!!( Everyone here that help me and leave me suggestions) I gave in and decided to make shift something.

You all have inspired me to make something so here is what I got.

Leftover plastic sheeting folded over and a couple layers of duct tape around the edges:

I am going to add a couple eyelets to create holes that wont rip so i can use this for a long time. Can't get much better than that. 100% light proof.

:tokin:

thats whats up, what do they say, an ounce of protection leads to a pound of yeild, whatever sounds good to me lol, and you know what i would do, i would put another peice of ducktape on the other side of the edges that way you dont have to mess your wall up everytime you take it off and maybe use push pins to hold it down, or maybe get some velcro tape and put a peice at the bottoms of your closet and that should work to keep it closed..i mean its an ideal..:tokin: lol sorry im stoned i just re-read what you wrote, my fault lol, but good idea lol

I punched Eyelets into it and I put hanger hooks up around my closet. I will take pics of it later but it pretty much doesn't damage anything.

My main problem is i had a brownout and my ballast isnt resetting. I don't know what to do...

Mini Update: Well since I got my tarp made a few problems. My day kinda took a dive when the power went out and my plants were in the dark for about 20 min. When the power came back on my 400w HPS refused to come back on. I had to set my plants out in my room with my veg room open so I could get some light on my plants.

I left it unplugged for awhile and it went on once but i had to unplug it again so I can get it back on the timer... I didn't have much light time left so on lights out i plugged my Timer back into the outlet and am gonna let it rest the full 12hrs to see if it will come on tomorrow...(The Timer isnt broken either. I swapped them with the one I use for T5 and it works fine. Hopefully it comes on tomorrow...

Here are the hangers i have around my closet:

Here are my girls hanging out trying to get some light:

Guess Im not having a good day. Im just gonna end this night with my girl and smoke a bowl. :peacetwo: for now. Stay medicated. RoorRip

looks good bro!!! and i must say again that you have a bad ass cabinet!!! i'll upgrade sooner or later.. :tokin:

For sure. Last night was just a bad night everything was messing up. Today is a new day so I will take as one.

My Ballast and light finally came back on with no timer on . So Im guessing that my timer can't handle the wattage or something. Tomorrows light cycle I will try to plug the light in with the timer about 10-20 min early just so I can see if it comes on. If i does good. If not, well i will let my ballast reset and turn on it, then go buy a new timer..:lot-o-toke:

I cant wait for mine to get that big....:goodjob:

Soon enough Mrs.Green!:thumb: They will take off faster than you know it. and everyday they will surprise you. Especially if you decide to take pics every 3-7 days. You will notice a huge amount of growth that you might have overlooked otherwise.:)

ahhh nice ladies. i notice the tips curling a little, is that from stress or bugs? hopefully its nothing they look awesome

Thanks Bubba! The tips curling have been a factor through my entire grow. I had a minor gnat problem that i didn't catch. I honestly felt that it was just dust floating because it wasnt even more than five. I would see them for a second and it was be gone the next. I got a No-pest-strip and has cleared up my problem thusfar.

It could also be my environment. Heat and ventilation has been my number one problem. I have all passive ventilation(My closet doors left open) and no means to ventilate when I keep my closet door closed. a few months from now when i upgrade I will be putting in some inline fans,Vented hood, carbon filter, and ducts that possibly route out my closet directly through the wall. I will have a filter that attaches to the hole in the wall and on the outside I will install a Dryer exhaust vent(aesthetic purposes)

yeah clean new air every five min is pretty important. heat does cause stress. if you cant get the heat down add co2 you can run in the high 80s and be fine. spray preventitively for bugs on a light dose and they will stay clear. use something organic and dont use end of flower. flush plant thouroughly. look under the curls of the leave bet theres different bug besides gnats. gnats live in the soil the fly up and fuck and go back down in the soil and lay thier eggs. if you spray for gnats spray the soil too.

Mini Update: So I have been checking #1 everyday and no new bananas have shown up. Hopefully they continue to not show up but I will continue to thoroughly check my plants. #1 is also stretching like crazy. She grew over 2" overnight!!

#2 is also doing great. Not as tall as #1 but she is pushing 2' tall. I am hoping they don't outgrow my closet.

Clones: 1week after trimming my clones are still green as ever. Im only guessing that means that they are getting some water absorbed. Im hoping I see some roots soon and I will plant them and go straight into my flowering room. So hopefully within the next or so I will have 6 more plants to flower and harvest. Those will go down in 1Gal pots and remain there for the remainder of flower.

Seedlings: 11 days from seed and they are finally working on new leaf sets. They should pick up quick from here. I am going to wait until about 4 nodes up to top. All these plants will be Topped and LST'd to keep them Low and bushy to become potential mothers.

I will get some pics up on Tuesday and do a full update of everything goin on.

:peacetwo: and stay Medicated.:lot-o-toke:

GOOOOOOOOODDDDDDD GOD!!!

Im finally caught up!!!

I have a quick question. I have 4 of the same strain plants yet #3 has more of a sativa like leaf. Is it possible to have the same strain plants but have them grow genetically different? ( Leaf type)

This happened to me as well!!! I had 2 of the same kinds of seeds and I had 1 plants give out more thin leaves, if you had seen it, you could tell it was a total hybrid, but the other Afgoo was having super fat leaves that would be bigger than my hand!!!

Also here is a video about hermies for you to view as well!!!

Hermaphroditic Cannabis - YouTube

Im sorry to hear about the loss of 3 and 4!!! but at least you still have 2!!!

Im subbed now!!

Nice of you to Join Aston! :thumb:

It was a lot to catch up with. It honestly doesn't feel that long ago but to think I started mid august and now Im already in Flower. That clears things up for me and I have hope yet for #1. I was under the impression that Once a plant turns herm you are gonna have sacs to pull of everywhere. After watching the video I now know that I can have a mild case of herm. My plant may have had a mild trait of herm and not fully developed.

I checked today and I had a bloated calyx shootin pistils and no staminate so I am hoping that it stays this way for the rest of my grow:lot-o-toke:

Watch #1..fast growing means a male

Well It is already a female. I have been shootin pistils for 5 days now. When i first started I also thought that. I read somewhere that taller plants are more likely to be a male than shorter plants. That method of determining the sex is simply not definitive enough for it to be plausable. #1 was and is my tallest and that was the first one to show that it was female. #4 was my smallest plant and it turned out to be a male.

Also i read that tight node structure is an indicator of female. #3 Was so compact i could hardly see its stalk. Really the only true way to tell a plants sex before flower is to clone and flower the clone. With multiple variable to take into consideration; all the different genetic traits that a plant can possess. Even seeds from the same batch from breeding are different.

After I learned all that and had first hand experience, I became a bit more unbiased when predicting sex.:lot-o-toke: This hobby is never ending knowledge. You will never know everything. There is always something new to learn and better ways to do things.
