Tead's Indoor-ish, Winter, Hempy, OGK, SOG

So.... one of the things that makes life nice is the warm weather. I really enjoy it. I can no longer imagine cooler climates.
This has some particularly ugly side effects.
First, it makes my little shed an oven in which I try not to cook plants. I'm seeing sustained grow room temps of 95 already. One of my neighbors just cut down a rotting tree that was giving me shade till noon... so that sucks too. AC is working. I've curtained off my area to a much smaller footprint since I only have one bloomer at the moment.
All that being said, I'm just getting to a point where that world is too hot. I'll let the current plant ride under HPS, but the next bloomers will be grown under flouros, and I may not be able to get away with that. We'll see. Perhaps I can find a way.
If I have to shut down for the summer, I'll keep the veg tent going and keep the genetics alive.

Another tragic outcome of the rising temps... violence. We've gone from what seems to be killings every day to multiple killings every day. Seems to happen every year. This year seems to include many road rage related deaths... perhaps it's become more common because of Mr. Smith's death.... maybe the masses see the roads as more dangerous, so they respond by arming themselves and becoming extra sensitive. It's a drag. I'm pretty sure if you charted deaths, the curve would bare a striking resemblance to the average daily temps.

Hey buddy, I hear ya about the heat and how it makes people forget their crazy pills. At leaste up here in MB it gets sooo cold in the winter that the drive-by s come to a complete stop... Due to the fact that the windows in the cars freeze shut and slow get always spinning on the ice for 5 min before you actually get going anywhere!!:rofl: Can't wait too see the results of decriminalization in a few years and how violent crimes drop wayyy down, it ll definetly be an eye opener for the masses! I sure hope your temp s come down for man, hate to see a brother suffer, even if your living next door too heaven:high-five: If you ve got an abundance of ice and time I'd maybe consider the o ll resneck ac trick of a bowl of ice infront of your fan or ac unit for extra cooling power.... If I recall correctly from the days of no ac, a bowl of ice should last about an hour! lol Helps bring that humidity up too if that's an issue....:thumb: Anyway I m glad you survived the festivities down there and sure appreciate the offer for accommodations. If I had my way I d be tenting it right next to your shed out back over the camper, the old lady is a stickler for having a can and real bed, that's the only reason for the stupid camper.... Makes both our lives better I guess in the long run, if ya know what I mean! Hahaha:high-five:

Hey tead what if you put up a bit of shade over your shed maybe one of those patio tents, that i think would cut down on temps enough that it could be manageable maybe lol. Then of any neighbors asks why you have a tent over a shed say its your work area or something and it's too damn hot in there without it lol. At the very least tarp the roof like multi layer maybe a little insulation first just to cut down on how much heat hits the shed that way the tin isn't heating up horribly. Just some ideas i had for ya!

Great idea lexort. I was thinking trellis with jasmine. It'd cool the air and smell fabulous as well as shelter the roof from the sun.

Ya I just figure the key is cutting off the suns contact with the tin. Use to work on a farm as a teen and we scrapped metal and stuff too and I found out nothing sucks worse then picking up tin that has been outside on a hot day lol it aborbs the heat and radiates it back ten fold lol.

Awesome iderrr s guys:thumb: Hey if you water your grass a lot like me you could always coil up some hose on the roof of your shed so the cool water running through the hose would help cool the tin roof plus warm te water a bit so it doesn't shock your grass as much. Orrr just move up here, woke up to snow this morning! Just about couldn't find ma igloo out back... Lol

I wonder about these words. I don't see MJ as a major driver of violence in our local world. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I might don't see it as a major contributor. Perhaps folks will choose cannabis more often rather than alcohol... I could see that alleviating some of the events. Not too many folks go digging for a gun when they're stoned... but drunk is a whole different story.

I sure hope your temp s come down for man, hate to see a brother suffer, even if your living next door too heaven

I might complain often (ummm way too damn often Tead!), but the curses do come with blessings as well. Yin Yang and all.
I'm a grown man perfectly capable of pulling up stakes at any point. My Misses even supports such ideas to some extent.
But here I am. So when I complain next, just ignore me and remember that it's gumbo that has many pieces... some of which I must appreciate.

If you ve got an abundance of ice and time...

I've tried so many crazy ideas over the years. Homemade swamp coolers. Ice in many different ways.
Still... none of it has been nearly as good as a old school window AC unit.

If I had my way I d be tenting it right next to your shed out back over the camper

The buzz of the AC in the shed will keep you constant company... but you'll need one on the camper anyway.... or we could just hang a hammock in the shed... you'd still cook, but at least it would smell nice!

So... you got me thinking.... just cutting the UV direct heating would be huge.
I've often considered some sort of awning/shade setup. One issue is the red flag some forms might raise. In a perfect world, I could use some shiny reflective stuff covering some sort of closed cell foam.
One thing seen frequently in our world.... tarps. Big blue woven plastic ones. When you roof leaks after the hurricanes blow thru, your quick fix is to tarp the roof. It's a common technique and we often see the tarps left on houses for extended time periods (ummm.. maybe a year or more!)
Anyway... I have one. A friggin huge one that would form many layers when folded to cover the shed. Locals would see it more as a natural piece of the scenery. Anyone would just naturally assume my shed roof was leaking and not think much more about it..

I fail to understand why I've not seen it this way before. I guess I need a trigger. Thanks! Off to cover the shed.

I've considered a fountain running down the top of the shed kind of ideas. Problematic in a few ways, but the major deal killer is how to dump the heat out of the water before pumping it back over the hot tin roof.

I dig this idea. I store the generator and some other equipment back there, but that stuff could move.
I dunno tho... sounds like work.

:laughtwo: oh..... I forgot about that.

Yea I think just like a grow room, you need to dump/transfer the heat right out..... And even if you used the ground with say a deep hole to rob some coolness from the ground, it would just keep heating the water up up up:( you'd need like a swimming pool per say..... Hmmm Hey hey look what we just figured out, Tead needs a friggn new pool to deal with environmental issues, Genius!:high-five: And guess what, they just went on sale... Well up here anyway! Picking one up next week as a matter of fact:thumb: We have one of those little inflatable ones and I built a platform, painted it black, coiled black half inch hose on it and hooked an inline pump up to help heat the pool. Same kinda principle I think.
Either way Tead s Gettn A Pool:party::party::party::party: Good luck buddy:thumb:

Ya i threw in the tarp idea later on cause I know your lazy lol ya if i was in your shoes i would put some insulation foam board lining the inside and tarp atleast the top and any other side that gets alot of direct sunlight contact. Its a little work but hey could be worse. I just figure hell ya got a a/c hooked up why not try to make the most of that by sunproofing the shed itself lol. They have big insulation foam board at home depot and menards places like that. I just think you could possibly make it so you could keep growing through the summer. See this is why you need this site stoners are great at troubleshooting problems and it can get pretty creative (like sue's idea, i really think it would be neat) but ya it's atleast worth trying out lol

It's spelled J-A-C-K-L-E-G.

Inside, I've built a bit of an enclosed area using the reflective bubble wrap stuff. It allows the AC to cool a much smaller area. I have a vent tube running over to the veg tent keeping it nicely cool. I'm digging it all so far. It will be a day or two before I can get a feel for the difference the tarp will make.

Im anxious to hear your findings on that lol. I do hope it does the trick!

The weather will not be cooperating with me. Overcast today... storms the next few.
It will be more of a test of the tarp anchoring system.
A buddy suggests creating a separation between the roof and the tarp. I have some long pieces of 1x2 that might fill the bill.
