Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

When I smoked mine this morning it was very clean and just barely tasted like it smelled. Still weaker than I thought they would come out but I didn't smoke much ( and have a decent tolerance) I should roll a joint, maybe...
Yours was rehydraded right? I wonder if using freshly cut vs already dried changes the chemical processes. To me it seems that once those sugars and stuff dry out they will never be the same. Mine didn’t taste at all like it smelled, but I just took a tiny tester (oxygen blast, OB we used to call them). I will for sure be rolling a doob or three after it cures more, that’s kind of what I do. ;)

I chopped another plant yesterday and got a sushi mat so I think I’ll make another one.

Testing the effectiveness of a new chemovar can be a challenge. Hehehe![/QUOTE said:
I belive you should keep testing :bongrip:to make sure your analysis of effectiveness is spot on.:slide::slide::slide:
Critical Dark Devil at 93% RH and dropping it is next in line for cobbing.:Namaste:

Has anyone taken a close in trichomes picture on a cob after the different stages?

Just wondering if they are visible or have 'melted' in to the plant material.

There are some pics in the thread on IC. Not sure where, I do remember seeing them when reading the thread there.

It was rehydrated. I sprayed the dry buds with equal weight of water. I think I should have done the initial sweat for a longer period. I did 30 hours and was too busy to go longer. I still have a nice stash and may try another one soon.
:passitleft:

What I think we're learning is to get the humidity up to 75% or higher. lazyfish, you sprayed your buds, but did you check to see that the humidity levels were stable for a number of hours before cobbing?

What it suggests, and what Tangwena shared, is that drier buds need a longer fermentation at higher temperatures than wet buds, up to 3 weeks or longer, but the following cure will improve almost any cob. I'd keep curing that cob and expect it to hit different at every weekly check.

Patience........ It's the hardest part of the game. :battingeyelashes:

I wonder what an amount that a person would use if they were going to roll and smoke a joint (a gram, more or less) would do?

Problem is, one cannot decrease a high at will. And being unable to completely control one's extremities - and head, bobbling on their neck - isn't all that enjoyable (neither is being nauseous almost, but not quite, to the point of vomiting for an extended period of time).

If - as I assume you are ;) - you plan on increasing your dosage, I'd weigh out several
"fractional" portions that make up a "big dose" and then... only consume one of them, lol. Or at least consume them incrementally instead of all at once, always remembering the delay of onset (and/or peak) with eating (vs. smoking). It would really suck to think, "I need to double my dose in order to feel what I am seeking" - only to belatedly learn that all you really needed was to wait a little longer for what you had already consumed to fully latch on.

Tangwena mentioned that he finds it a more enjoyable euphoric experience if he gets the dose right at the start. Incrementally increasing the dose tends to take him into a type of high he finds less than optimal.

He has played with starting with a major dose of one cob and then adding in a secondary dose of another cobbed chemovar at some later point to fire up the buzz.

Oh yeah..... I'll be playing with that. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Damn! Missed a whole page!

Only 26 pages late but I made it.

:welcome: Scrogdawg. I knew we'd tempt you.

After ~25 hours I opened mine up. It was very strong smelling but like weed not anything else. It completely stunk up my whole house. It was damp, but no water drops anywhere. I tamped with a paper towel and put it back in in the dehydrator for another 12 hours. This morning I opened it up and the smell had changed dramatically. It now smells like pickled sausage now (Tijuana Mama!). I think it’s done with the fermentation stage, so I left it out to air dry then I’ll vacuum it back up and put it on top of the fridge for a few days and check it again.

I may have to open my Malawi cobs tomorrow. Just to check, you understand. :battingeyelashes:

Ok @SweetSue
Im cutting and hanging a carnival today so am I correct on assuming you don't dry completely before you roll the cob so when should I roll my cob

Also I have some still drying ACDC, it's around 70% RH, can I use it?
Time to play with this

80% RH is the goal. Rehydrate.

I plan to put mine in cob at 80%. So maybe Tomorrow.

WooHoo!!! :yahoo:

What's a good way to add some moisture back into buds??
Fresh stems?

I like putting the buds in an open container and then placing that in a humid tote (sealable container) with the lid on. In the bottom of the tote can be a damp towel, fruit, bowl of water, or any number of moist options :hmmmm: Fresh bud works great.
The point being to have a nice even ambient moisture level to rehumidify the bud with. The source of moisture isn't touching the buds directly.
In reality it's usually so humid where I am - I can just skip the tote.

This ^^^ :battingeyelashes:

I just smoked a very tiny bong load and it got me much higher then that small of a bong should have. I was surprised it even burned considering how wet it was when it went into the cob.
:passitleft:

Hehehe! Oh, thanks. :passitleft:

It's a bummer that cobbing will never get the attention by science that it needs for us to fully understand how to get the best out of it.

:green_heart:

We may help move that interest along. :battingeyelashes: How happy does it make me to hear you're researching bacteria in an attempt to explain the phenomenon.:hug::hug:

I guess it smelled a bit vinegary but also a little sweet, it just tasted like normal weed although I didn’t clean the bong (or even change the water).

Haha! Sounds like my home.

Yes what is a cob, but a cannabis sausage?

Reading that article and the part about the importance of PH in keeping unfriendly bacteria away made me wonder something I've never thought about before.

What is the ph of bud?

This is totally off-topic, and I don't even have anything connected to the subject of the thread I can throw in to mitigate it. It's just... It was either turn the light on and fire up the computer for a minute or continue sitting in the dark, and I needed a break from that.

I've heard it said many times - often enough that I have believed it - that one sure way to tell that you haven't gone batsh!t crazy... is that you're worried that you might be batsh!t crazy. Something about how if you've really gone barking, well, you're pretty sure you're just fine. But I'm starting to wonder if maybe that isn't written in stone.

Seeing movement out of the corner of your eye... Well, that's nothing new.

But - and I suppose this will only be understood by the cigarette smokers in the audience - do you know how, when you're trying to quit smoking, how you don't want a cigarette, but how your body and half your brain is desperately screaming for one? Yeah... Right now, I really DO want a cigarette. But I can't seem to smoke one. It's... It's backwards, completely backwards.

There is a scent of otherworldness in the air. No. Same old world - but it's like nothing is making sense. It's... It all looks the same. But it feels like everything is completely alien.

If I hadn't been here all day, by myself... It's like all the facets of a bad trip, only without the trip. And I do not recall ever having had a bad one. So this is more unsettling that you might think.

Even the tinnitus is wrong, tonight. It sounds like crickets.

Middle of the night, thin walls, quiet neighborhood. And here I am, about to turn on my stereo and crank it up until the woofers could blow out a lighter, in hopes that at least that will prove familiar. Or at least distract me from my distractions.

I... IDK

Well here is a shout out to a fellow night owl slash light sleeper... I am a smoker and just was outside smoking one.... have decided that i now need a few hits off the ole night time bowl.... this is when i do my best thinking and reasoning as my family is sound asleep... such a peaceful time.... Think I am gonna have to blast some Metallica in the ole grow room and get down to weekly cleaning duties... nothing else to do...

I guess this thread brings together the nightowl smokers too. I’m not usually an angry person but I wake up in the middle of the night angry until I smoke a couple then roll up a doob and smoke that too.

I never had a bad trip either. Crazy and insane yes but never “bad”. Although the last time, which I guess has now been years, I got on an “you’re an adult now” vibe that was far from pleasant.

Ok so the 24 hour sweat is done. No moisture in the bag or on the cobs. It gave off a warm citrus aroma that filled the kitchen though. It opens the sinuses for sure. It didn't need drying so I sealed them back up to ferment. I hope I didn't screw this up.
Before sweating
After 24 hour sweat

Wow... golden cobs! This is the most delicate result regarding terpenes, aromas... :goodjob:

Those smells are spot on... means Lactic fermentation going on. Same that happens with sausages or salami...

Regarding the high, from Tangwena's words and other research, looks like the most clean, special effect comes from sublingual absorption, that is then "backed" by the gut digested effects.

If you find chewing uncomfortable or not optimal, oil extracted from cobs will be prime quality, and can be taken sublingually. Be careful with the dosage.
