Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

Did you mean no drying? If so you will sweat a shitload of moisture out make sure you dry them well after the sweat.
I prefer 2,3 even 4 days drying normally.

No drying, straight from harvest to the sweat. Its still Winter here with the heatpump running and I was afraid I'd end up with bone dry herb before cobbing as it usually only takes three days or so to dry a harvest even putting it in my most out of the way place. :nervous-guy:

Oh well, its all just an experiment in getting high isn't it. :Namaste:

Highya guys,

I did this a little different (by mistake). I rolled some cannabis sticks, vacuumed, and put in 100 degrees for 24 hrs. Then put into curing temp for 3 months. I didn't dry out between sweating and curing. So, when I unpackaged them, they needed to dry for about 3 days. The smell and taste were like they were just harvested. The full flavor. I tried a couple pieces. Not what I'd hoped (my fault), but I'm leaving them in the jar for another 3 months to see if they'll cure more.

No harm done next time dry at least 1 day in your conditions. The buds wet like that I have tried always end up very dark and not to my personal taste.
Can you post a good close up of the buds after the sweat?
You will get better results with a partial drying to the point that you could almost smoke a joint but it would go out between drags because its still too moist to stay alight.
You will not ruin the THC just the terp's tend to be destroyed in wet buds I have found which makes it taste a bit bland.

Hi brother very interesting you got the flavor to remain sounds like they didn't sweat much at 100 degrees lucky for you at least you kept the terpy aroma intact.

Your right, Tangwena. There was no color change at all. They must have been in limbo for that vacuum time. Always something, lol. Cheers

Latest cob beginnings... skunk#1 again with 63g wet bud dried to 18g (minus some stem) so ready for curing...

Just had a bite of this... thumbnail sized 1 mm thick about. didn't measure weight. it's been in the vacuum seal for 2.5 months so should be nice and cured. Chewed slowly with some coffee and let sit under my tongue a few minutes as it became quite mushy quickly. Will see how it goes! I didn't feel much in the early early cob but this should be good I hope. I also haven't had much response to edibles so these may end being smoked if they don't produce for me.

Let's see how it goes. I'm gonna assume you'll feel something from Skunk #1. :laughtwo: Don't make any assumptions until you're a couple hours in. Problems with edibles is usually either genetic or a compromised gut.

Could you feel any effect inside the mouth? When I hold mine there for a spell it always numbs my mouth for about an hour, and I'm always wondering how helpful to oral health cob chewing might someday turn out to be. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Oh yeah it was definitely buzzy under my tongue and the edges as well. It reminded briefly of when I when I used to dip tobacco but more bitter. I've got to finish making my beer, planting tomatoes into bigger pots and checking on my other seeds to get started for my porch garden so this hopefully will be a productive buzz. I'm getting a similar reaction like allergies but that could've been from going outside... head starting to feel lighter.

Hi Sue I would be wondering more how sucking smoke into your lungs might be one day detrimental to your health.
Your mouth and stomach are designed for this purpose to digest and masticate plant material surely.
just a thought.

I’d have to agree with you my friend, and I keep exploring more and more edible options. :hugs:

This week I made my first hot vegetable tincture with a leftover buds from a delicious Zamaldelica x Panama cross that gave me a wonderfully euphoric day, and I’m more likely now to start my day with bud Dust or ground cob than a hit.

You’ve definitely started me down a more mindful path as far as consumption preferences, but there’s really no substitute to that quick slap to the consciousness a hit from the water pipe delivers, at least not in my world. :hookah:

For someone with spasms, tremors, a panic attack, or ridiculous breakthrough pain there’s nothing like a couple quick hits for fast results. :passitleft:I try keep all the pathways available. It’s an individual medicine like no other.

I opened up the white widow and skunk from 8 and 9 days ago (never opened previously after sweat) and they are looking and smelling wonderful! Will let them dry in the AC for an hour and then re-seal for a few months to age.

Skunk first:

So had a small chew of white widow today after now being in the cute for two months. Tastes like lavender and mint. smells like dank. Also put the remainder in the bong for a few rips.

Took a7 mile walk yesterday in wonderful weather fully sober. Gonna ride my bike today on the same path lifted!

And here's what is supposed to be golden tiger now at almost 3 weeks flowering and only 22 inches tall from the soil. She had a super fast start and was #hex'd to have 6 main tops. check my signature for all details of journal. All through growth she's been showing Indica-like pheno but I don't know what she should be like. She'll get a few cobs made after harvest also.

Hey y'all! First post, but a long time reader. Massive kudos to Tangwena for sharing this technique!
I'll have you guys know, that this information has reached even the northern parts of the world, more precisely Finland, where I'm from. Thank you all for your efforts.

I wanted to share pics of my cobs I did a few years ago.
I experimented with quite a few different recipes. Sweats ranging from 12-36 hours, the temps were not measured.

I added some dry sift kief on some of the cobs before resealing them to cure. They were banging.

This is Alpujarrena, cut a bit early (50 days or so) to make room in the tent. Didn't turn out bad tho.
I added some kief to this piece.

I cannot remember which strain this was. Could've been Alpujarrena, 8 Ball Kush, Cotton Candy, Trippy Gorilla or Acid Dough. Or all of them put together!

Now for the top-shelf stuff I managed to make..
So, I sifted the trims to gather this. I used 60 & 120 mesh screens.

After sweating for approx. 24 hours, I combined two strains. Trippy Gorilla and Cotton Candy.
Rolled the sticky buds in the kief and cobbed them up. Resealed them and cured for a month or so.
Here is the result. And my god, it smelled soooo good, sweet and pungent, like a mix of tropical fruits and candy.
ps. I used all of the kief on this one cob.

Same combo-cob, but a few weeks later or so..

Trippy Gorilla cob, sweated this one a bit too long as it lost some of it's wonderful tropical smells. Wasn't bad tho, but it stood no chance against the combo-cob mixed with extra kief.

Cotton Candy cob, aka Candy Bar.

Acid Dough Cob.
This one was from another world. I kid you not, this one smelled and tasted exactly like a pineapple hard candy would.
Probably my favorite when it comes to taste and aroma.

8 Ball Kush cob.

Probably needless to say, but I'll be making more cobs in the future because these things pack a punch, lol.
I'll be sure to come and post some pics when I do.

Peace, and stay safe y'all. o/

OMG @PumasPyjamas ! o_O

First off, slammin’ job on the keif-rolled cob. :high-five: How I wish I was in Finland. Lol!

Secondly, it’s so satisfying to hear of the reaches of this outreach. @tangwena, it has been one of my greatest pleasures in recent years to partner with you in getting the message of cobs out to the world.

Thank you for holding this all together while I’m busy with medical cannabis issues in other rooms. :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Highya eg,

Welcome to this experimental journal! This is a lot of fun to do! I use the parchment paper method, and leave it on all the time. It's easier for me to work with, and always available, at least for me. Shortly, others should tell of their methods. Happy Smokin'
