Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

Four new cobs started yesterday. I’d call that a good day for the group. :battingeyelashes:

I just checked on mine, it's been 14 hours and I don't see any sweat yet. I see you soaked your husks Sue. I thought you only did that to make them pliable. I didn't soak because they were already pliable when I opened the bag. They wrapped right up without any tears. Did I screw this up by not soaking the husk? I thought the moisture was from the buds not the wet husk.

Damn... Tead may have made a strategic error.

So, this morning, I pull out the cob and take a peek at things. It came out of it's 24hr sweat yesterday at around 5p.
I'm peekin at the canary.... darker... you could easily see a color change.
I decided to crack the bag and check.
Less "wet hay" smell in the canary.
Temptation overtook me, of course. A wise Tead running inside his own head as a sub-process knew this would occur.
The grinder gets filled with the solid-ish mixture.
The canary was fairly dry. I warmed it over the heater pilot light at about 100f for 15min just to drive off any surface moisture.
The smoke lacked flavor really. Not impressive from any of the physical senses angles.
The problem comes in as I try to write this post. It's surprisingly problematic.
Wait... that was actually a huge understatement.
Oh damn.... I may have made a mistake here. I mean, I like to smoke all day.
So friggin high. Gotta go see what coffee does. Maybe a donut.

:laugh:....and you just smoked it? Is this a known strain as far as potency?

Hello my friends been a few had to catch up... Ok first of all Neiko, I really wanna know how that strawberry turns out cause i have a couple of those ready for move to out doors... Second I saw that one of the cobs were done in a green husk, is that ok cause they contain alot of moisture .... maybe it justs takes a little longer sweat though i have made tamales in green husks and they tasted like a Mexican piece of grass lol Luck and Greener fields always friends
You are in for a treat. Is your strawberry fields from Crockett Family Farms? That is the best tasting strain in my garden. I'm really curious to see what it tastes like after the cob cures.

I didn’t know to soak my husks either, they were nice and pliable though. The jar of herbs was right at 80% humidity. My shitty dehydrator only got to 97° (On the 115° setting) before I fell asleep, I just cranked it up a bit. It’s been almost 11 hours the canary is turning darker. I feel the tingle of excitement building.

yes i am pretty sure got clones two years ago and also 4th generation as well, should be fun this fall... I am just starting a budding of one of my older mothers in door now.. 3 wks in and barely showing any flowering.. kinda nervous as it has always been a strait up clone winter grow summer

3 weeks in and no buds yet? Hmmm......not sure there, mine started flowering about 9-10 days into flower and the harvest window opens at 63 days.

Burned it in the bowl like any other. Sue has me wanting to chew some... but I'll save that for another day.
My own strain created from a mother OGK plant I'd been running for decades (literally... clones) and probably UltraDog.... I call it Ox. Very heavy indica to begin with. I kinda am feeling less of the sleepy factor and much more of the cerebral effects.

Either way... it's a fine set of waves to ride baby. Grab ur board!

to be honest Neiko, it is actually only like 17 days and i am in a jankety set up for it.. just kinda shielding it from light by covering it with a black out box in same grow area as all my 24 s .... never done that but my bud room wont be ready for use till later in summer so i gotta try something, hate buying from kids.... they have no idea about pricing... they are how shall we say OGs all of em pimpin yo lol lol

Thanks for the tip repuk. Hey is dubi the breeder at ACE?

I think after the summer harvest I will run a bunch of big indoor sativas. They harvest too late for my climate.

Hello Lazyfish, yes. You'll see they're serious breeders. You'll see dubi following also crosses, no matter if done with other seed bank genetics.

They include lots of details, specially on breeders packs, but feel free to ask Dubi for more regarding parental lineages, etc.

I may have made a mistake here.

Our definitions of the word "mistake" must differ (unless you've got to be in court this afternoon, LMAO).

You know what they say... Practice makes perfect ;) .

No smoke report as I will give her 3 months cure before I try her, she is swet curing inside a vacuum sealed bag at the moment to bring out the lovely red, orange and yellows that this method brings. I will leave her for a couple of weeks (checking daily) before opening the seal and letting her cure still in the bag but with air inside and just burping the bag now and then. I find this gives the same result as a cob cure.

Those corn husks must be like fart-pipes on a Civic. You cannot help but notice them when they're there... but they're hardly necessary.

The husks impart their own effect, according to Tangwena. The smells will be different, for one thing. The increased surface area created by the ridges in the husks may also contribute to the quality of the cure. These are unknowns.

@lazyfish , how’s it going buckaroo? :battingeyelashes:

@Tead, you go my friend. Lol! Doubted me, eh?

@neikodog , have you inspected the cob itself? It should be moist regardless of whether you see any drops of moisture. It simply means you’ll transition to the fermentation stage faster, since it’ll dry to the touch that much faster.

If you detect moisture and any heat when you open them up, and you get the sweet undertones, I’d assume you’re on the right track.

A lot of the guys on Tangwena's thread smoke theirs. I'm not sure how many chew like Tangwena does. I have yet to read the entire thread. This one keeps me busy enough. Lol! It's a powerful buzz by any administration method Scottay. :battingeyelashes:
I'm definitely gonnna give this a shot in the near future!!! Sounds too nice to pass up. Quality goin in means supa dupa comin out!!! Hehehe I'll definitely get my chew on!! Happy Friday folks!!!!

During the time when it is not vacuum-sealed in a bag? Or do you mean while sealed up? If the latter, surface area wouldn't really be a factor (it won't dry any faster, and it won't have any additional contact with the atmosphere from a larger surface area). As with most of my posts, you can infer an "IMHO" here, lol - but science supports the opinion, since the bag material is not porous.
