Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

Did you do sweating and fermenting of these buds without using vacuum and compression?
Hi my friend I just tried it for fun but no compression but def vacuumed in the jar via an attachment available from the food saver manufacturer.
Mostly only good to smoke though, the cobs are way stronger chewed, for some reason the compression does special things to the high.
I wont bother doing it again for me but it was just for people who need the flowers to stay whole for whatever reason.
Cobs rule ha ha.

Ok, I see. I thought mold would be a problem if stored in no vacuum otherwise. Interesting about compression. When making sourkraut some pressure is also used during fermentation. There's probably a good reason for that.

Highya Nick,

Sauerkraut is salted to wilt the cabbage, and make liquid. The salty environment won't let harmful bacteria grow. The salty environment also is great for the lactobacillus bacteria to flourish anaerobically. Some pressure comes from weighting down the cabbage so as to not let the cabbage up out of the liquid, and stay safe in the liquid. That's how the oldschoolers used to do it.

Today I opened my Panama x Purple Haze cobs to dry them as I do every week.
Its now 3 weeks I think.
These buds are going to be perfect in a couple of months time.
Check out the light from my window reflecting off of the buds, thats the white stuff in the pic ha ha.
These will be like aromatic hashish in a couple of months.

Awesome! I wonder what would happen to buds if fermented like sauerkraut. I bet they would be very tasty to eat.

Beautiful cobs, mate.

Beautiful cobs, mate.

Fermented saukraut produces what may be the most valuable of probiotics - the one first formed in the gut of newborn babies. I often wonder what beneficial microbes we might introduce when we learn to make cannakraut. :battingeyelashes:

Started the morning, in part, with a little smoke from dynamo’s Critical Pineapple Express. :slide: It created the most interesting head shift I think I’ve ever experienced. Lol! We followed it up with a delicious breakfast bowl made with fresh eggs and veggies, so I’m gonna add a small chew to the mix in a couple minutes. I figure all that fat in the meal can go a long way to helping absorb more cannnabinoids. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Vacations are fun. :laughtwo: To be honest, my everyday life is more akin to a holiday or vacation than anything, but the visits end up being rediculously and gloriously over-indulgent. Lol!

Later guys. Keep the beautiful cobs coming. :battingeyelashes: @Gazoo, I don’t believe I’ve come across a green apple cob smell before. Crop King’s Early Miss Auto was the only chemovar I’ve grown that smelled strongly of apple. Good times ahead. :slide:

Keep teaching us @tangwena. :hugs: It's surprising how much difference one more day drying makes in the process, even though I've experienced it myself. Your pictures are excellent guides for our next attempts.

I'm carrying around a small container of DDA cob to get me back home on my last day. It's so strange not having anything to chew every morning. :laughtwo:

Hi Sue I can go a couple of days without but after that I miss the adjustments to my thinking.
I was very down the other day after a dream in which I saw my recently departed Father in Law I couldn't shake the image from my head.
Half a gram of GT did the trick though I could feel it working its way into my head the image getting further and further away until finally I was released and soaring high and oblivious to any earthly problems.
Its like medicine for the soul.
But for a fun day out the Panama x Honduras is the bees kneez, fun is the only way to describe it.
Fun like I used to have as a teenager its the best.

I managed 10 days a couple of months ago. For a few days after that I got a bit stoned. During those 10 days I was a very cranky man. Will try a couple of weeks break this summer.
Try adding a hefty dose of CBD with it. I have not tried the cobs yet I just found this thread last night. But I find I have a similar tolerance as you it doesn't seem to matter how much I consume I hardly ever even catch a buzz. But I have found that if I time edibles, smokeing, vaping and using CBD I can get a good high going for a half hour to an hour. Just a thought.

I actually took CBD oil during my 10 days off weed, but the CBD didn't do much for me.

At the moment I'm traveling, and I didn't bring any weed. I'll be traveling for 6 weeks. So far I'm about one week into my trip and I've only smoked a little bit here, but every day. I smoke less and less for every day as my little stash I got on the first day is getting smaller and smaller. Today the time is now 18:00 and I haven't had any all day . I only smoke about a joint per day, and I put it out after a few puffs. The last few days I've actually got a bit stoned on my few little puffs. It seems my tolerance level is getting better already - I'm happily surprised. Tomorrow I'll run out, so we'll see what happens then...

I quit every summer for work. Usually all summer but, lately, typically for two week periods. I am a recreational user mostly so, I don’t NEED it, I just like it.

I find it’s important to assert your control over mind and body. Break habits and expectations. I find the benefits to be quite significant. My tolerance drops and I can get wrecked off a few puffs. I barely use any in between my two week dry periods. I recently bought a one hitter that I was putting some cob into, maybe half the size of a pencil eraser. That’s all it took to keep me flying for hours.

I am going to start trying lower thc strains. My CB dream from CKS is quite nice. Despite being lower thc 6% and 6% CBD I find it gets me just as high.

Taking a break is a good thing. Just take it easy when you start back up lol.

Hello every one. I am new to the site and to cobing. I home no one minds if I join your amazing adventure.

I am so excited about this and have been binge reading for the last couple days. This group is so amazing, you all sound like the most wonderful people. I curently have a grow that is due to be harvested in the next few weeks or so. I have some Green crack and White castle that I will be harvesting and am planning on cobing most of it. I just picked up some corn on the cob and cleaned all of the husks hanging them to dry untill I need them. I am also planning to try cobing a couple Thai sticks and having them cure untill my birth day in January.
For the Thai sticks I am thinking they will need less of a sweat and less firmenting time. Am I corect to think that?
Here are a couple pics of what I have going on.
Just a heads up as well I am not the best with technology and computers. Or a very great speller ether.

I think it may be good to take a break every now and then. :yummy: Ijust took a week long break from all cannabis and did well. It was my first break of longer than a day in year or two. My mind cleared up a bit but the resulting joint swelling beganto creep up again by day 8. I just reapplied topicals, ate some cob,and smoked a bit and everythng is back under relative control! :thumb:

@420nak8, welcome to our celebration of potentiated cannabis. :hugs:

It’s a lot to read, so don’t hesitate to stop at any time and ask questions. The process is pretty straight forward, but it can feel intimidating the first time you squeeze together a handful of bud. As you can clearly see, we keep at it because we live the results. I’m sure you’ll be as amazed as we are when you taste your first. :battingeyelashes:

I am sure I will be amazed as well. I haven't been able to find any cannabis that would get me high in over 2 years due to the tolerance I have built up. Even after taking long breaks I can basicaly only get a high feeling once and that only lasts 15-30 min. So finding this post I have a feeling will be the answer to mine and my wifes dreams, she also has a very hard time to get any high.
I had an idea the other day that was actualy the reason that I found this thread. I grow in 100% organic notill soil and use firmented plant juice (fpj) as a foliar spray. As I was making fpj the other day I though, I wonder if I made an fpj with cannabis flower and boild it after firmentation to decarb if that would work so I did a search for firmented cannabis and found you and your amazing troup. I will be trying the fpj experiment with some bud from my harvest that is coming up and will definatly post any results.
I saw a post earlier on about cobing CBD but haven't got to the point that any one has done it and has tried it. Has any one tried and tested CBD cobs? If so how did they turn out.

Highya 420nak8, guys,

It so happens I grow in a no till soil and use fpj, some fermented bloom nutes, and haven't used (but have some ready) the ffj. I shall warn you about boiling microbes. It'll kill 'em. The object of actively aerated compost tea is to compound the available bacteria and introduce to the plant. Best to use canna waste in a compost pile or worm bin. But that's just my opinion. However I'm having more fun with this Dr Cho's KNF than ever before. Seems to be working for me, at least. Cheers

I mean making an fpj with good cannabis to cunsume not as a foliar or for composting. I would than boil the fpj with the plant material still in it to strip any cannabinoids left in the plant material and also to decarb. I would than strain the plant material and use the fpj syrup in cooking, baking ect.

:yummy:I have been growing food and pot organic for decades. It makes me feel better to know where everything came from before it goes in me! Bode said it right! If you boil it, it is dead. Besides the worms love it and they increase the bio activity in a good way balancing the process.:) Zymurgy(the art/science of fermentation) is fascinating and vastly complex! Many wonderful uses but also can be deadly. I love to make my cobs now, to go along with my home brew, wine, spirits, sourdough bread culture and not to leave out my fermented pickles and yogurt!:smokin2: I keep it simple in all my processes and think how to make the bio organisms desired happy. Soil building is my thing! Living healthy soils are full of what supports both the plants desired and the good fungi and bacteria! Using "teas" of compost is very effective to boost a deficient plant. supply the plant plentiful living compost and the tea is unneeded!:) At any rate, be nice to your microbial friends and they will do good things for you! Building colonies that will be viable when applied topically is still somewhat dependent on what it lands on and the surface conditions.:smokin2: Finally, my point is. Propagation of bio soups can be unpredictable in final results without tried and true methodology and the loss in viability upon application can be high without"kindly" soil and other surface conditions to receive and nourish those new arrivals. When you have plenty of compost you don't need compost teas, they are growing in it! The real job is feeding the compost pile to meet your needs! Some brewed bio teas are fed to my compost piles, but seldom to my plants. Anyway, the plants take what they need when planted in comfortable live soil and thrive, with no heavy metals, harsh salts and unknown substances that may contaminate or be part of the chemical industrial products used by many.:high-five:Happy to hear of another zymurgist, composter or bio farmer out there spreading quality foods and medicine to the world. :peace:
