Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

I have to say...The Cob-a-Tron is the perfect place to germinate seeds at 77f!!:circle-of-love::peace:

Good thinking there. I will definitely use it for germination next time.

Hi everyone!
Hope you all had a happy Yule. Our power was gone for 5 days but is back now. Unfortunately one of the previous cobs - the Durban Poison - got mouldy but the other 3 are great. Just did a new cob of wifi today! I am also soaking some of the 5 week olds in absinthe . For those of you who have done this before - how long have you been soaking it for? I also wanted to know from those who have been eating it do you decarboxylate it first?

Hi
I am trying this cob thing.
I have wrapped the cob in fresh corn cob
Sweater on the water heater over night
Dabbed off dampness and then vacuumed sealed and placed on warm cable box.
It will be a week tomorrow so will open to semi dry
My question is
Do I remove the corn wrapper to dry or leave on???
When would I remove the cob wrapper???
Thanks....

They have been done from No wrapper to stored in it till the end. It is a choice we all get to make with what looks like little effect on end product.

I have kept mine on for the last 5 weeks. Just re-wrap it everytime you check.

I won’t be making one because Brix gave me a sous vide machine, but this is an excellent idea Dave! :high-five:

I may build one eventually anyway, just for the experience. Lol!

ArtMonkey, the moldy cob can be reclaimed. I believe the response is to soak in vinegar water. @MagicJim , didn’t you have this unfortunate occurance with one of your cobs?

The crowd grows, and it becomes more of a challenge to keep it all straight. Lol!

I like the way JustMeds phrased it “a choice we all get to make...” I haven’t done enough cobs yet to discern much difference in effect. The wrapped ones look cooler with all those ridges, but other than that there’s no real reason to wrap them.

I sweat and ferment in husks, but then I remove them, mostly so I can admire the transformation. Lately I’m more drawn to tossing the branch into the bag and sealing it flat. They are tasty like that.

Thanks!!!
Now back to trying to read this whole thread......

Have fun reading, but know that no one will jump on you if you don’t. We don’t mind answering questions. The first page has most of the relevant info, excepting the marvelous cob-a-tron. The rest is the celebration of us exploring the nuisances. All the action is right here on the current pages. :hugs:

My lead-in to the New Year. :slide:

I’ll welcome the year with Carnival, of course, but the past three days it’s been nearly impossible to turn away from the deliciousness that is Dark Devil Auto. It’s one of the sweetest energetic “let’s do something fun” buzzes I grow, and that’s translated beautifully into cobs.

Are we having fun? :battingeyelashes:

First... @tangwena, you know I love you, right? This isn’t getting high, this is getting devastatingly high. Lol!

I look down and see the clean, white ash and smile, thinking fondly, “It’s all about the cure.” Well... this year we found out it’s all about the fermentation.

May all of our cobbers have as blissful a Sunday leading into the New Year as I plan to. :ciao:

heya saltspring,, cheers

Welp.....
Went ahead and made a 10 gram cob (following a tip from reddit..) from homade Purple haze x ny diesel
Dashed out to goodwill to pickup cheap food saver (found one)
Peeled some fresh corn shucks from a store bought fresh corn and wrapped it up useing cotton kitchen twine.
Popped into a baggie for 24 hour sweat.
After the sweat I removed and dabbed off the excess moisture.
Then vac sealed it ( double seal) for 8 day fermentation on my tv box. Checked after 24 hours look good.
then left for a 7 day holiday ( happy new year y’all!!!)
Upon return, I found both seals blown (leaked)
The vaccum was gone and the cob was sitting in moister.
Stupid goodwill vaccine sealer.
Anew one from amazon is on the way....
Got it out and put on router to dry ( scared of mold)
After 24 hours still a little damp inside .
After a complete check for mold with a microscope and found none. Yippeee
I cut off 1/4 of it and the rest vaccumsealed the rest.
Had to try!!
I shaved a little off and into the bowl.
It didn’t blow my socks off but it’s a great buzz!!
Prolly be better next time when it gets for right.
Cuz there is gonna be a next time!!!
Can’t wait!!!

Mine sometimes seem to shrink slightly or something that looks like a blown seal but it’s not. After the first couple times I now double-triple verify the seals. It doesn’t always happen but has happened a few times. I now inspect them daily looking for any excuse to open and reseal.
