Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

The canary is just for seeing what is happenin in the corn wrap. I think the corn wrap makes that smell and taste different and keeps mold away. I have seen mold a few times in a leaky bag or when I leave a cob out on a shelf for a few days, but I have never seen mold in a husk wrapped cob.

Some people just make 1 big canary because essentially it is the same thing, it is easier than rolling in the husk, and would make the process easier.

You should definitely open it to smell. You don't see little tiny droplets near the corners of the husk? Do you notice a color change? If you open it I'll bet you will notice some moistness. Were the husks dry when they went in? The pre-dried ones don't seem to soak up much water, but I think it helps to but them in a bowl of warm water while I am rolling the cobs up.

Thanks. I opened it up. There was the barest hint of moisture on the end of the cob. The canary felt mostly dry. Patted the cob off and resealed. In the box at 77. I will check it in a week. :circle-of-love::peace:

Nice start to a cob Neiko. :thumb:

Oh Dave, I'm rediculously excited. Lol! :hugs:

Thanks Sue, I guess I should've mentioned that pic was right before the sweat. I just checked them after 16 hours in the cobatron and I didn't have much moisture yet. I will pull them out tonight and dry. I am going for a golden cure with these. The buds hung on the rack approximately 48 hours and then the cobatron was set to 107 for the sweat. There is a little color change on the canary but the smell is just starting to change so I felt a few more hours were in order. I'll post pics tonight when I dry them.

I fooled around got a good buzz going and left my lid off my cob...... Now RH is around 51%..... hope Boveda will bring er back...... :peace:
I have one just sitting out on my nightstand for emergencies and it still smokes great. My humidity fluctuates a lot though so it goes from dry to moist often. In my experience they’re a lot more forgiving than nugs at least.

Long and slow will get you gold my friend dont worry about the lack of sweat it just takes longer for the color change the drier the nugs going in.
The golden cure will suite those buds man very electric, just what the doctor ordered. Love your work brother bring those babies home ha ha.
I am trying just that on my PuntoRojo x ColJam nugs they are gently curing while I am away fishing for the next 2 weeks.
Fingers crossed for an up electric cure to bring out the euphoria.

When I get back I have so many cobs and colas to inspect I hope the magic happens and I get a big rush when I get home fingers crossed the canna gods are smiling.

Wow Neiko! So.... What special tricks are there to getting a golden cure? Warmer sweat? Longer fermentation?

I like the sound of this “electric” sensation, and I’m thinkin’ my next Carnival should have a golden cure.

I really enjoyed having a bit of cob dust around to dip into. I found myself doing so all through the day, as opposed to a chew in the morning and letting it ride.

Cobs wear me out though. Lol! I need a day or two between edible indulgences to let my energy catch up. I don’t have that limitation with smoking cobs.

Hmmm..... maybe a little DDA cob to spice up the afternoon?

@Rooster1, like Doob pointed out, cobs are very forgiving. When you let the humidity fall into that range it simply stops the fermentation and sets the tone of the meds. - or so we assume. I haven’t had any dry out yet, and I store mine in jars without Bovedas.

Yes...very golden.... maybe lower temps???

Here we are, chasing that "I'm in space and lovin' every minute of it" buzz. Lol!
