Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

Checking in with this great thread. I am still looking for fresh harvested high-resin hemp to cob. That is a tall order in wintertime but I think a couple of the online CBD flower retailers purchase from indoor facilities. If anyone knows of such a producer, I am all ears.

I seem to recall that re-moisturizing bud is a no-no, right? Has anyone tried this.

Some very young fermented Mulanji about to be sealed up for aging. I chewed some of number 2 pic its covered in shiny crystals the camera didn't pick it up very well.
Its about 20 mins in and I already want my mummy. I keep hearing sounds that were not there before its kinda trippy ha ha.
When things start to morph into other things I will know I found gold.
Wait my mouth has just started to stretch into a big ear to ear grin.
Everythings gonna be cool I just know it ha ha.

I personally have both successfully rehydrated and assisted another member in the rehydration of his cobbing material, and was happy with both results. There's questions as to how this could work, but the fact remains that I have a perfectly effective cob from buds that started out from the jar at 62% and got cobbed when I hit close to 78%.

I suspended sliced apple bread slices in a silk bag over my buds and left it like that until they were moist enough to cob. It's not the optimal way, but it'll ferment nonetheless.

Is that documented on here or could you tell me more? Thanks!

I don't recall documenting the assisted rehydration, but here's my post on my own rehydration and cobbing. It was pretty straight-forward.

OK I had the 1oz cob in the dehydrator at 105F for 24 hrs and just looked, it does have some
water droplets but not much so I increased the temp to 115 and will leave it in for another
8 to 12 hrs ? Would that be OK ?

If I understand the process Gazoo, that'll increase the possibility that it'll be more narcotic. If I'm wrong it won't take long for someone to correct me. Lol! The question for me becomes, "How much couch lock are you ultimately looking for?" We all know my answer would be "None, thanks" but this is about you. :battingeyelashes:

If there's any moisture you've kick-started fermentation. If it were me I'd dry to touch, seal it up and get her going.

Thanks for the fast reply Yes COUCH LOCK = NONE
I'll dry and start the 7 day Ferment

QUESTION when we Dry to touch is that done by opening the Husk and Air Dry ? Then back into Husk, Vacuum seal
and ferment for a week ?

Or Do we Dry the outside of the Husk and then reseal and ferment ?

Thanks again

EDIT: Went ahead and started the ferment. I did not open the HUSK, only dried the outside Husk and
re-vacuum sealed. Not sure if that is right but figure if Not I can redo it. Also noticed the seal bag I
used for the sweat did not vacuum as good as this second type. What a difference it nearly crushed
the husk it did such a good job

Sounds good Gazoo. :thumb: You can dry either way. When I finish fermenting I remove the husk for the cure. Hook, and others, don't. Lots of variables to play with.

I have noticed that the more moisture in the process from start to finish the darker the end product. I had some that I only sweated till I seen droplets ( A few hours ). I then opened it daily and dried to touch and resealed for a week. The color change was very minimal, a light golden color. Smoothness was not as much as the darker cobs.

Thanks SweetSue :high-five:Thinking I may open once before the cure, The universe is telling me to keeping everything wrapped tight :)

Thanks for that observation I like SMOOOOOOTH :thumb: :yummy:

Check out the resin on the flat canary bud this stuff works without aging straight from 2 weeks cure!
After aging it may be too good to share. Right now I just want to hoard it all for me and special friends wink wink its a real love drug.
The cobs are aging now but this flat bud is keeping me company for a lot of further testing he he.

Love the smashed and fermented buds. :green_heart: Tangwena, have you tried ground cob yet? I find it rather nice to have some already ground up. I'm thinking Oldbear's onto something, soaking the grindings in a carrier oil.

Yes I agree powdered is cool as hell and that carrier oil thing is something I am going to try as well.
A friend on another forum is right into coconut oil infused with ground cob he never stops talking about it ha ha.
I usually powder the cob before extracting into iso to make oils for a friend of mine who likes to put a drop on his tongue and let it dissolve in his mouth ha ha.
Licking the bowl is a sure way to loose yourself ha ha.

Once in Malawi we went to a village to score but the dealer had sold all his bud he showed us a big fertilizer bag that he said had been stuffed with fermented buds just 24 hrs before.
I noticed a fine powder in the bottom it looked like ground pepper made from small pieces that had fallen off like dry sift.
We stuck our wet fingers in and licked it off then made a one skinner for the road.

We had one drag each from memory before getting hopelessly lost in the small tracks we had driven in on.
We spent most of the night sitting in our car shitting ourselves until morning when we found our way back to the main road.
So yes I have tried it ha ha it was my first introduction to the fact you could chew it. Another time an old dealer gave me some bark to chew he said it would make me strong.
I later found out it was yohimbe bark an aphrodisiac and general muscle tonic. I didn't sleep a wink that night either ha ha.

You have the best stories, my friend.

I ground some Carnival last night figuring I’d have it left for this morning, but it was all smoked up by the time I finally went to bed. Lesson learned...grind right before consuming. Lol!

I got a little cob update. Here is my Zamaldelica x Ethiopian cob I am shooting for a golden cob. These came out of the ferment stage after 12 days at 78-80 degrees. I dried to the touch and resealed for the cure. The smell was very pleasant and slightly sweet with a fermented background.
