Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

I know they still have pups hitting on Weed at the Cali border to AZ

Maybe AZ will legalize it and they will get retired
Yep, I know they still have the dogs that hit on it. That was my wondering about the chemical change that happens in cob....is it different enough that those places that still have K9s that hit cannabis won't detect it.

The good thing is that to the human nose, cobs don't smell at all like cannabis so any human cops are going to be unlikely to pick anything up.

Oh yeah!
Did you get your hands on any of the A5 x Malawi testers? Man, you talk about great weed, that stuff will knock your socks off. I had to test it and it came back at 28.9%. Bad thing is I didn't cob any, I was out of town while they were on the rack and they got too dry to cob. Next run I will for sure. Dubi just sent me some A5 x Panama and Zamaldelica Elite x Panama Goddess tester too.
Yes I did a quick grow under a small LED it was way too stinky for my grow room. But I have seeds to try it again sometime in the future.
While your at it man get some of the Panama x Honduras crosses they have. Its the best feel good euphoric high I have ever had. Super clean and lasts forever I cant leave it alone it just makes me feel so fantastic.
They have so much good gear its mind blowing the A5 x Panama sounds super tasty your lucky to get to try those.
I have a cob of the A5 x Malawi aging at my fishing camp. I will be back up there for new year it will be 9 months old by then.
I cant wait to try it now ha ha. With Aces gear we are just so blessed and spoilt for choice I cant remember a time in my life when I have felt so happy. I keep thinking it cant get any better and then it does stay cool brother.

Hey all just an update on my Honey Peach cobbing venture.

It's gone from this:

24hrs @ about 40c and I must say I'm very happy so far.

I'm no good, too useless with descriptions of smell, but there's been a marked change over the 24hrs. It's now very fruity, with the help of Mrs Delores we've narrowed it down to sweet watermelon, and I must say I think she nailed it. Alas I never asked her to smell pre-cobbing, I will in future

There was no sign of water vapour inside the vacume packing. I think this is due to the parchment paper soaking it up, it was very damp on removal.

I've let it air for a short time, when I'm done here I'll wrap her in fresh paper, and let her sit on the driver for my lights for a week.

I'll update then :D. Really looking forward to sampling this.

:Namaste:

Oh yeah and a very happy thanks giving to all my colonial cousins over there ;), hope everyone has a good one.

Mmmmm, that looks so good! Bet the smell is outa this world... that there will knock your socks off pretty soon!

I just had a though, has anyone tried Cobbing left over trim from harvest? I wouldn't be able to make a very big cob from my plants, only harvest 1 at a time. But maybe do some mini cobs somehow?

No reason that wouldn’t be just as effective. It’s plant material that will undergo the same processes. I would imagine for some, with lots of sticky trim, it could be very worthwhile.

When I cob I don't bother trimmimg, other than to remove the fans. I strip the branches and cob it all up together. The way I look at it a plant grows different oil concentrations depending on the location on the plant, intended for different effects. At the bottom the plant is trying to deter grazers. At the top there's an increased need to protect against the sun's rays.

If there's a mix of all that going into my cobs I feel like I'm getting a balance of what the plant had to offer from top to bottom. Plus, I'm lazy, and don't trim unless it's absolutely necessary. Lol!

@Piña Delores, that's an impressive and beautiful entry into the mysteries of cobbing. :high-five:

 Nice Sue... yea I don't really trim very close. Pull the fans and trim to even the buds out a bit, thats all. What about the fans? if they are washed beforehand, mixed in with the trim... sure it wouldn't be very strong, but could be interesting to try that as well. No harm...
Oh and someone had mentioned fermenting roots, I would be interested in that as well. I am actually getting into all kinds of fermentation... this weekend I am going to start a few jars of fermented broccoli, cabbage, carrots, etc... great stuff!

If you have fans available why not try a bit of fermented cannabis? Then you can report back your findings and impressions. Every inch of the plant above the soil line is covered with trichomes, most just one cell high and all of them holding oil. Have some fun with it. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Hey Tangwena. I once read you comment that the Ace Malawi is very different from the Malawi you know. How so? And could you point me in the direction of where I might be able to find something you’d consider a more typical/true Malawi strain? Sorry if the question has already been covered, I haven’t been around much. :thanks:
:passitleft:

Another astonished participant. Lol! It sounds like you already know how to proceed Nick, and congratulations on your first tastes. :high-five:

I’ll be flying to California in a couple weeks for a quick visit and I’ll be squirreling away a couple cob bits to keep me buzzed for the duration. They don’t look or smell like cannabis, so I should be able to drop them into a personal items bag or my lunch box and have it completely overlooked. This traveling “freedom” is a benefit of the process I never took into consideration. :battingeyelashes:
Well long story but I finally got around to making some form of cobs this morning...off what I could remember in this thread.

Took some fresh harvest, after a 12 hour hang, this is some HSO Genetics I was fortunate enough to test, grown in soil.

Cut off some lower sites as well as top nugs to make a small cob. One of each strain. I didn’t have decent corn husks and didn’t want to just have the vacuum seal plastic as it’s only wrap. I used parchment paper in place of husks.

I kept rolling it and unrolling it, getting it tighter and tighter, then just tied it up with the cotton line after I thought it was good.

Placed the makeshift cobs into the vacuum sealer. Double sealed the edges as I was going to put them into my crock pot on “keep warm” but that got too hot according to a thermometer.

So my best idea was to use my hot water tank. In particular the hot water line that supplies the house. I wrapped the copper tube with a bandana to protect the plastic. Wrapped the cobs around the bandana. Then tied them with cotton line before wrapping the cobs in a tea towel to hold in the warmth.

I have checked a few times. At one point the bandanna was up to 115F, stuck around 110 for the longest time, and was at 100 last I checked. It should get a few cycles of heat in the next 24 hours that might do the trick. We shall see.

Way to go Urb

Aces Malawi is to me very narcotic. I used to live in Africa as a young man I lived in Zambia up near the Congo border in a town called Ndola, Malawi in a town called Limbe and in Zimbabwe in Harare.
In all that time (10 years) I never had a narcotic type effect from any of the good cobs i scored.
I didn't experience narcotic effects until i moved to England and was introduced to hasish which I never even knew existed up to that point.
I have never developed a love of narcotic type effects and so when I find them I discard them. I have only grown one fem of Aces Malawi it was extremely potent but unfortunately had a narcotic finish to the high so I have not explored it any further.
Soon Ace will be releasing a new breeders seeds Green Mountain seeds I think its called. A hybrid of Mulanji a type of Malawian plant grown in the Mount Mulanji area of Malawi crossed with a Hawaiian sativa.
If you want to experience a true Malawi type high I would suggest you give them a try.
The Malawi I used to smoke in Africa was an instant kick up the ass both mentally and physically nothing I have ever had since comes close.
Not to say there aren't equally good strains available recently I have found Aces Panama x Honduras and its every bit as good as the best pot from Africa I am growing both Pan/Honduras and Mulanji right now I will post pics of the buds at harvest and of course the cobs of both as they are the reason I am growing them both they rock my world cob cured.

Thanks Tangwena! I understand ‘narcotic’ to mean a sort of sleepy/dopey effect. I really really don’t like that sort of high at all. The Ace Malawi I’ve grown was very vibrant and trippy and gave everything a sort of happy candy-coated glow, but left me totally coherent and able to think, socialize, and multitask, etc. Maybe you got a different version.
The only thing I didn’t like about it was that it got a bit too speedy in anything more than small amounts. Still- if I restrained myself to small amounts it was a near-perfect high. Hard not to want more though, and then I’d end up going in circles like a damaged rocket.

I agree its all in the individuals personal taste some of my friends dont like things that I consider good.
As long as we all like what we grow what others think should not matter.
Thats why I said I only grew one fem seed. That isn't enough to get to know a strain is it? I just have so little space to grow in if I dont love it to death straight away it gets side lined.
Dont go by anything I say as far as Aces Malawi is concerend i love Golden Tiger and Zamaldelica they both have Malawi in them. The Malawi x Ethiopian is outstanding as well.
It just scared me off when I got very stoned on the pheno I grew. I dont like stoned it reminds me of Hashish the old school hash not the modern hybrid hash.
I never knock a plant from Ace but I do say what I find but it is only my feelings I respect Ace greatly they are the only seeds I grow and for good reason.

BrixNewb’s cob came out of fermentation today. :battingeyelashes:

That looks insane! I’ve just started a new grow so looks like I’ll have another task to do come harvest time. If this process was applied to trim then there would be no need to use buds in the edibles department, right? Just a thought. A whole new level of excitement!
