Tales From The Krip!

Drive-by

Dude harvest time,,,, takes a grow or two of the same plant to know her. I'm going to say someone who hasn't grown 'my' pheno of puppies might be tempted to harvest acouple weeks early. Iffin they looked at hair color/timeframe/trich color... BTW I learn to timeframe and hair/pistil color over trichome clairity....... My words of wordlessness is when in doubt,,,,,, always givem another week.............. She looks close. Much better a week later than early????????

I do know that doesn't help.... But 'might' if you have a cut????

I would think she would appreciate another week but totally up to you bud! Even another week is just over 8 weeks of flowering.

I'm with you guys 420% on the wait! :thumb:

I'm typically the last one to pull early and usually recommend giving another week once it looks done (I quote Brother NCW often! ;) ). And, while the Dolato does appear to be in the "Harvest Window", it looks like another week is probably in order.

I just took a small lower cola to sample. The trichs are all clear & cloudy with no signs of any amber, yet:

I'll let the buds dry over-night and sample them in the morning to see what she's like. I'm in no rush to pull, at all. I've got plenty of meds from the last harvest and will not be able to pull the other plants for at least another week or two, so I'll likely wait another week on her, depending on the results from the sample, of course!

DOLATO TESTER BUDS AFTER QUICK-DRY

Here's the quick-dried buds from the same small "tester" cola as above:

I'm gonna sample them soon and will let you know how they do! :bongrip:

DOLATO TESTER BUDS RESULTS

I ground up those sample buds and had enough for two good-sized bong hits. So, I loaded one up and, because the bud was still pretty moist, it took me 4-5 hits just to finish it.

The first thing I noticed was it tasted like a cookies strain and NOT like hay/grass, at all! It was incredibly smooth and, while not the best quality I've ever smoked, it pretty much tasted like cured meds! :thedoubletake:

So, I figured for the next round I'd load up the vape to see what it really tasted like. While the vape was heating up, I got caught up in something else and totally forgot I still had the rest to sample!

It was pretty much just as smooth as the smoke but, TBH, I don't have a much better description of the flavor since my taste buds were already a little distorted from the bong hit.

It's definitely a good, heady high, and I really wouldn't be disappointed with her right now. However, since I am in no rush, I do prefer the "couchlock", and I'm hoping for more weight, I'll let her go another week and pull another sample late next week.

I've been seeing some of the fans on the Forbidos start to yellow & die off, though not lots of them. She'll be in the harvest window in another week but I will likely let her go an additional week after that, too.

Happy Harvests!

DAY #53 QUICK UPDATE & PIC DUMP

The main tent is looking and smelling great! :yummy:

Some of the larger fans are starting to die off on the Forbidos, but everything else has stayed pretty green & lush throughout the grow.

We'll start with a couple of the Blue Gelato 41 pics. She looks pretty good but is just no match for those IHG strains:

Next, some of the Forbidos colas. They are some taller colast but I'm really not sure why I cut off the tops of so many pics??? :bongrip::bong::hookah::smokin2:

Finally, the Dolatos:

The PTK's are still pretty small but, if they look developed enough, I'm hoping to flip the breeding cabinet to 12/12 next week. In reality, it may be another 2-3 weeks at the slow rate these are going.

Happy Harvests!

Nice looking plants bud! The Forbidos is starting to wrok on catching up to the dolato! Starting to get all sorts of frost. The Blue Gelato looks very healthy at this point. :thumb:
Thanks, Bro! Yeah, I was just posting in Doc's thread that the Forbidos would be a winner in any of my other (non-Dolato) grows. That BG-41 is looking pretty good, too, but I've already culled that mother since I don't like the plant's structure and it's pretty leafy. I've got some more seeds but not in any rush to pop them. Of course, that's all BEFORE taking any samples! ;)

I literally have close to a year's worth of growing pre-planned and none of it, right now, includes any more BG-41.

Funny how that works out! I kinda just wing it and go with whatever I feel like doing at the moment. I need to cut down on what I have going on for strains and then move forward with new ones lol. It is a never ending cycle. I would like to possibly throw pollen at some point but I am not sure if it will happen. I am not even sure I would have a place to run any seeds I did make lol

Well, it's funny that you mention that, too! You'll notice my plans are always changing based on the situation at the time and, as it turns out, it looks like my plans for breeding are no different!

Since I'm planning on having everything harvested in about two weeks, in an ideal world, I'd be flipping the breeding cabinet to 12/12 right now. All my female clones (Dolato, Forbidos, Platinum Kush Breath, Platinum Cake & Blackwater) are ready but those PTK's are just taking their sweet time and are way too small to put into flower right now.

I moved the conjoined twin (PTK #3) to the veg tent since I'm not going to use her(?) for breeding, so that leaves me with three to hopefully get a male including the two "normal" looking phenos and the pheno with the spikey/mottled leaves.

Now, I need to decide if I want to try to wait on those PTK's to hopefully see a male, which would delay my starting the next round; or, just start the next round, scrap most of those female clones, and start the breeding in another 60 days, or so.

TBH, I'm strongly considering delaying the breeding and, instead of starting again in 60 days with a bunch more female clones to pollinate, I'm thinking of popping some more reg seeds like Black Cherry Jelly, Apricot Jelly, maybe some Chocolate Thai, etc. Then, in 60 days, I'll let the regs do an open pollination while trying to collect pollen from any of the males to use in pollinating the other female strains.

That would also give me time to get some cuttings before I make the flip and, I can already see that if, by some chance, those PTK's are even mature enough to flower in the next few weeks, there's almost no chance I'll be able to get any cuttings.

So, that's how my planning goes!

DELAYING THE BREEDING PROJECT

So, after that last post I took another look at those PTK's. Here's where they're at after more than three weeks since sprouting:

At this rate, it looks like it will be at least another three weeks, or more, before they'd even be ready to flip, which would not let me start the next round for at least 5-6 weeks!

Well, that's just not going to happen, so I went through some of my reg seeds and just started soaking two each of the following: Black Cherry Jelly, Apricot Jelly, Zephyrus, and HSO Trainwreck. I figured the Trainwreck would be good to cross with all the strains!

By starting them now, I'll have time to sex them and figure out which ones are males. Assuming I get some females, I can flower them out in the next round or two. Depending on how many males I get, I can decide later whether I want to just collect pollen from the males or stick some females in with them when the breeding starts in another 60 days.

For those waiting on pollen or seeds - sorry for the delay! :sorry:

While it does delay the breeding project a little bit, in another 60 days we'll be much more prepared and hopefully be able to collect pollen from multiple strains.

Happy Harvests!

Sounds like a solid plan bud! My planning goes much the same. Thats why I kinda wing it. I let things decide what they want to do and go from there. Right now I am waiting on seeds to sprout and then I have clones to put in soil. I also need flower space to open up soon so i can flip some pretty big veg girls. Slacking on mixing soil has made for some delays, but has allowed me to grow some larger girls in veg by not pressing myself for time.

ALL EIGHT SEEDS SANK AND ARE PLANTED

It must be my lucky day! All eight of the new seedlings have sunk and are now planted in 2" containers. :slide:

I definitely need to start culling some of the duplicate plants/clones I have sitting around but it will be easier to do in a couple weeks when I get the current round harvested and next round in the tent.

Considering the size of the breeding cabinet, I'm really going to need to sex some plants before I start the breeding so I know exactly what's going in there! If all eight of those new seeds pop, I'll have 11 new seedlings from five new strains and I'm basically out of space as it is!

Happy Harvests!

Oh the problems of a small scale home grower and now pollen chucker! I do not know that any of us ever have the space we feel we need. It is great all of the seeds sank. Let us hope they all come up so that your spaces may be overcrowded and bursting at the seams. make sure you do the PotChimp and kick those pots in place before you close the doors!

Correct! I did see that model. It was about $30 more and is EXACTLY the same fan with the same CFM only has the Temp & RH sensors. :thumb:

Lmao what are the chances I wud see someone post a pic of the same fan I was looking at getting with the timer an temp and rh% sensor man that thing looked dope as hell. So how do u like it is it worth the money an work good or no?

I don't know, Brother! I haven't even plugged it in yet!

It's too much of a PITA to replace the fan with the packed tent & trellis screening so I'm gonna install it in a couple weeks when I finish harvesting this round. I'll post my opinion on it once I have a chance to use it. My only real concern is it's pretty low CFM considering the duct sizing.
