Tales From The Krip!

You wont have a problem controlling temps. One thing to keep in mind, assuming the programming is the same, whatever fan setting you last had in manual mode, will be the highest setting in smart mode. So make sure you go to manual mode first, ramp it up to full, then you can switch to smart mode.

Play with your set points, as you may find a higher set point is more beneficial since the fan ramps up gradually. Too high a set point and night temps may drop so you are running very little fan, and maybe not enough iyo for your style.

How does the RH feature work now? Is it with an output or can you ramp speeds with the RH now as well?
I didn't get the model with the temp or RH control since I run it 24x7, anyways. The model I got is the CLOUDLINE S6, Quiet Inline Duct Fan System with Speed Controller, 6-Inch

Actually, having said all that about the programming, I don't see that in your image. You have the S6, my mistake. The T6 looks like this.

Correct! I did see that model. It was about $30 more and is EXACTLY the same fan with the same CFM only has the Temp & RH sensors. :thumb:

I do recommend the T6 in the future though.. it will save you money on hydro with the ramping features. Something to think about. You'd have to work out the cost of hydro vs the savings for roi but I would think it would be worth it.
I grew hydro for something like 8-9 years and just made the switch to Doc's Kit. NO chance of switching back anytime soon! ;)

Sorry, hydro as in electricity. We call it hydro here in Canada.
Oh!!!! LOL!!!

I was trying to figure out how the ramping up features would save me money on hydroponics but figured since I wasn't going back anytime soon, it wasn't worth pushing the issue!:rofl::rofl:

I haven't read up on the RH sensor, but it's useless if it ramps the fan with RH changes. It would only make sense to open an ouput so your humid/dehum unit could turn on and off.

Anyhow, I'm sure you will be happy with your purchase Krip. Nice one!

What's funnier is before I hit the Post button I read it and thought I wonder if they know what I mean by hydro?. The rest is history

It would be nice if such a fan could be set somehow to have both a "day mode" and "night mode" configuration - and be aware of what time it is. So that you could, for example, set it to act on temperature when the lights are on but simply cycle 10 minutes (user's preference) per hour (ditto) when they're off. OR operate based on temperature when lights are on and operate based on relative humidity when the lights are off.

I take it that's not possible? I was sitting here earlier trying to figure out how to run a cheap fan off of two cheap timers (one in the "day," one in the "night"), but decided it was getting a little complicated (and a little NOT inexpensive) when I mentally added the third relay  .

I've been wondering about that for years. I mean... I've encountered the term enough to know what people mean in context, because I used to belong to a small private forum that had about a 50% Canadian membership (who like to gripe about utility rates almost as much as we b!tchy USA citizens do ;) ). But why it's used for this escapes me. Do you get all your electricity through hydroelectric power generation (dams, I guess)? If so, we should maybe call ours "Coal, gas, and extreme profiteering." Or "Tommy's rickety house of cards," if half the stories I hear on the news are even remotely true.

True story: When I was 14, I had a friend who lived in a "fancy home subdivision." The "Young Mad Scientist" room was in the basement across a little hallway from their laundry room. So I was down there with my buddy one day <COUGH>NOT hacking the local BBSes<COUGH> when we heard thunder pretty clearly. He immediately jumped up, ran into the laundry room, and unplugged the washer and dryer. When he came back, he asked, "What are you doing?" (I was shutting down all the electronics and unplugging them) "No, no," he laughed, "All that stuff is surge-protected and runs through a power conditioner with battery backup; it should be safe against anything less than a direct lightning strike on the house." "Oh, but it's cheaper to just unplug the washer and dryer?" He laughed again and told me to go look in the laundry room after the storm started pounding in earnest, then began reconnecting and turning the computer stuff back on.

About 15 minutes later, I walked into the laundry room, thinking maybe water was flooding in to this expensive house (having already realized that price doesn't always match quality). I did - water was pouring in...

...from the electrical outlet!!! Never saw anything like it before or since, and still can't figure out HtH that was happening - or how, hours after the rain stopped, someone would just nonchalantly plug the appliances back in and they'd still get power from that outlet.

IDK. Just felt like sharing, I guess. And, no, I wasn't tripping; he was a "good" kid, lol, probably owns a multi-million dollar tech giant now, if he didn't retire early and go buy an island somewhere.

Ya...Krip,..wtf........reminds me of sumpin Doc said to me once. "if someone asks me if it's ok to use something...chances are,..they've already used it".
Krip..no experience with those fans..i'm sure it will be fine. I can speak very highly of Osburg inline fans. mine is well over 6 yrs. old and still runs perfectly. i will say its always a good idea to oversize your fan /filter combo so it can be run properly at between 65 and 85 %.

I think you can do it with two timer relays plugged into your main light timer. So when the lights go off, your N.C. output sends power to the other timer relay. You set the mode to on/off or repeat(probably have to play with the modes to find the right one) and what ever on off cycle you want. It would be equal times this way, iow's, 2hours on 2 off.
Get a smart relay with 4 outputs and you can do all kinds of things with built in timers and counters. A little pricey over 200.00

Not all. It's like when we use the word eh, eh! Hydro is, or was, labeled by most distributors. Hydro One, Toronto Hydro, Hydro Mississauga, so it's always been referred to as that. They took down the four sisters here many years ago and have always been nuclear since. No more coal up here. Niagara of course being a hydrodam.

TIMING ISSUE - CHOPPING EARLY!

I was just checking in on the girls before lights-out and realized I have a real timing issue - but, it's one of the good kind! :yahoo:

I was planning on harvest sometime around March 15th and was gonna put the breeding cab on 12/12 right around March 7th.

Well, it's only been 50 days of 12/12 (not even flower!) for the main tent and those Dolatos really are ready now, and the Forbidos only has maybe another week, or so! I don't think I've ever had anything finish this quick and that quick finish time combined with all that frost on the Dolatos really gets that to "keeper" status. I still have to see what she smokes like, which is the ultimate determination of whether I grow her again, but if nothing else, she'll be fantastic for breeding.

That being said, it looks like I'll be pulling everything in the next couple weeks (Dolatos, likely this weekend!) with the PTK's just NOT ready to flip into flower and the next round for the main tent NOT even in #1's, yet!

It won't really delay anything compared to what I had planned, I just get an early harvest; but I could have "stepped-up" the schedule if I knew things would finish this quick!

I'm hoping to feel better about this once I start sampling the Dolato! :yummy:

Happy Harvests!

K

Damn that is crazy! I took my Dolato to 70 days and she used all of that time. i probably could have taken her at day 65 but she was still packing on the weight up until then! :thumb:

It IS crazy!!! But, even if you look at the pics posted last night, you'll see almost no white pistils anymore. I'm gonna scope the trich's tomorrow but you know I don't like judging harvest time by trich color, so I'm also gonna pull some samples. I'm debating whether to pull her this weekend or next. :hmmmm:
She's so nice, I wouldn't mind giving her some extra time just to put on some more weight! :meatballs:
