Tales From The Krip!

How easy eh Krip,..really.:high-five: This combination of well balanced living soil , and the proper organic liquids to feed it. Cruise control, its stupid easy.....:surf:...

I agree 420%, Brother! :high-five:

I always said the breeder's job was to provide quality genetics and the grower's job was to get those genetics to reach their potential.

Well, as long as your environment is in-check, the kit soil really allows you take whatever genetics you happen to be growing to their maximum potential, with very little effort & expense! :thumb:

Krip I see you got the YoYo's out now. That's kinda early bro.

Fatty nugs in your future. Yeah u right. :yummy:

Looks like Frosty Rocks in the moon lighty night.

You got clones?

HtH does everyone else keep up? Does everyone else keep up?

Only thing I can really keep up with is my ladies in flower.

Only because they cant put on a leather jacket and hike out. Lol

They're stink'in with me! :passitleft:

Thanks, Brother! Yeah it is early for the yo-yo's but those colas were literally on their sides and I wanted to not only get them closer to the lights, but also open up some space to the lower canopy. I've even been doing some very light defoliation to make sure the lower canopy is getting some PPFD's since I'm really trying to test these Mars LED's to see how tall I can really effectively grow the plants.

If the light only penetrates 2' into a canopy, no sense in growing 3' colas! ;)

I have "mothers" of everything from the last two rounds (except the White Widow which I wasn't interested in preserving and have tons of WW seeds!) and am in a "Mother Hunt" to maintain and cross-breed about 8 of the best strains possible. I don't think I have room to really maintain more than that.

The Fruit Punch from the last round will be the first/next one to get culled. :rip:

I'm in warm weather, so my ladies don't need a jacket to hike out. Luckily, I keep them tied down so they can't get out!

DAY #37 OF 12/12 - LET'S COMPARE SOME BUDS!

OK, Family, it's time to do some bud comparisons! :yahoo:

First, a quick shot inside the tent and you can see I had to hang a bunch of yo-yo's to support some of the heavier buds...or buds with weaker stems, as the case may be! ;)

First up is the Blue Gelato 41 from Barney's Farm. It's looking pretty respectable for 37 days of 12/12 but nothing that special:

Next up is the Forbidos which really is something special and I have HIGH hopes that it will help my dad with his pain:

Finally, the Dolato which is really something EXTRA specially and I have VERY HIGH hopes for this one! If nothing else, it should be great for breeding, but I have a hunch this one is gonna be pretty damn good!

Happy Harvests!

Dam my dude those look amazing did u jus take clippings from the breeder an put those up hahaha jk. Congrats brother those are great.

Top Notch work, best garden I've in a while. Awesome job.

Cheers

Those are some dangerous looking plants you go there. I love those dark orange pistols, excellent work!

Thanks, Bro's! :thanks:

I just culled the Fruit Punch and Blue Gelato 41 mom's from the veg cab to make some more room. The Fruit Punch is really nice with a great flavor and, in fact, is what I'm smoking on right now, but it's not great, which is what I'm after for mom's.

And, that's the reason I culled the BG-41 - it's just not great (even though I haven't sampled her yet!). It's rare that I will cull a mom before even sampling her, but I made the exception for this one because I really didn't like the structure of the plant. Most of her stems are thin & spindly, even though the buds don't look too bad. Since I do have more BG-41 seeds if/when I decide to grow it again, I'd rather have the room for some potential PTK keepers and the next new strain which, I think, is going to be an Ace Bubba Hash.

Right now, we're about 40 days from harvest, give-or-take and I have the Platinum Cake & Platinum Kush Breath waiting in the wings for next round with another Blackwater, plus extra PCake, PKB, Dolato, Forbidos & BW clones to use for the breeding project with the four PTK's, so veg tent is packed and I needed the space!

PIC UPDATE - DAY #47 OF 12/12

I didn't get any updates in over the weekend, so here's one that's short on the updates and long on the pics!

First, quick update on the breeding cabinet:

PTK #1 is the spikey/mottled pheno:

PTK #2 looks good:

PTK #3 is the Conjoined Twin. The less developed side did get a first set of leaves (single fingered), but it doesn't look it's going to put out any more...I'll have to wait & see:

Here's a couple of the Blue Gelato 41 buds:

This pic shows a great comparison between the Forbidos & Dolato colas! The Dolatos are much more bulky, more leafy, and more covered with trichomes. The Forbidos has the buds spiraling up the cola. Dolato is on the left and Forbidos on the right:

Some of the Forbidos colas:

And, here are the Dolato colas:

Nice.

I'm assuming that's just a human's hair in the last picture, but my eyes are such that I can't even pass my local DMV's vision test right now, and I'm pretty sure I've seen bats flying out of there with driver's licenses, lol, so you might want to check to make sure it's not some kind of web thing.

Hmmm :hmmmm: .... It took me a while to spot that, but it appears to be Golden Retriever! :thanks:

NEW DUCT FAN

Well, I probably should have posted this and asked the question BEFORE I went a bought it, but I ordered a new duct fan earlier today.

The existing 440 CFM fan in the main tent started making some loud noises which I heard from all the way across the house (with the TV running, actually!). It's something internal and, since the tent is in my bedroom, I wanted to get something quiet ASAP.

So, I found and purchased this unit from AC Infinity:

It's only 34 dBA, which is extremely quiet, and has a built-in speed controller; but it's only 351 CFM (So, I may not get much use from the speed controller! ).

It's supposed to be fine for a 4'x4' and I currently don't run the existing fan at full capacity; but, I do have the main tent hooked up to the 3'x2' veg tent using the same fan, so I'm hoping I don't start having heat issues. If not, it should work out great! :slide: I use the AC Infinity Airplate in what is now the breeding cabinet and it's incredibly quiet!

Anyone have any experience with these? (the question I should have asked pre-purchase! )

I was just reading about that brand, I think in Stanks journal or someone else's in which stank commented that as his fans fail he William emplacement hemp all with this brand so bet it'll work out well for you. Certainly looks sharp!

I use the older model T6, just the temp control no RH. It's great. It wont keep heat below 80F if you dont have your light hooked up to the duct, at 600W HID, since you already know there's a drastic drop in cfm's compared to the standard models. I can maintain temps by ducting through the reflector and using a circulating fan under the light. If you plan on adding a CF at the end or anywhere else you can imagine a 25% drop if I recall in cfm.
I would almost recommend(not now ;) ) the T8 for a 4x4 myself knowing how they run. Now I use HID, but with the LEDS I had no problem maintaining 75F, 2 x 1000W.

That's good info! :thanks:

It is about a 20%-25% drop in CFM with the carbon scrubber and even more if there are bends in the ducting. I was considering the T8 but didn't want to have to get a new carbon filter and re-duct before I, at least, tried testing it; and I figured if I was going to put a 8"->6" reducer, it would only be as efficient as the 6".

Right now, I'm running 900+w (actual draw!) of LED's but I have an A/C unit in the room right at the intake so I can somewhat control the temps with that.

You wont have a problem controlling temps. One thing to keep in mind, assuming the programming is the same, whatever fan setting you last had in manual mode, will be the highest setting in smart mode. So make sure you go to manual mode first, ramp it up to full, then you can switch to smart mode.

Play with your set points, as you may find a higher set point is more beneficial since the fan ramps up gradually. Too high a set point and night temps may drop so you are running very little fan, and maybe not enough iyo for your style.

How does the RH feature work now? Is it with an output or can you ramp speeds with the RH now as well?
