Tales From The Krip!

QUICK UPDATE - TUT #1 & BLACKWATER

Tut #1 has really turned into a beautiful, incredibly bushy plant with numerous colas, but the stalks on the individual colas are much thinner than the colas on Tut #2, which surprised me a little since I figured because Tut #2 got numerous toppings, her colas would be thinner than Tut #1, which was never topped.

Plus, the foliage was so dense on Tut #1 that it I thought it best to thin it out to avoid potential budrot issues later, and hopefully, to get the plant to focus on ripening and bulking up the larger colas.

So, the last couple of days, I've removed a ton of lower growth along with any stalks that didn't look like they could support some weight. It hardly looks like it was touched from the top canopy, but is definitely thinned out significantly:

The Blackwater now has four of the tallest colas in the tent! I can't believe how quickly she shot up after being put into 12/12 and, actually, makes me a little nervous about how much she'll stretch if I really give her a full veg! So, I used the trellis netting to spread apart her four primary colas from the UBT and now she has another 5-6 secondary colas sitting above the trellis netting, so that should help increase the yield on her. You can only see one of the primary colas in this pic (center-right), but all those shorter colas at the base and down are from the Blackwater, too:

I'll try to get a full update in tomorrow.

Happy Harvests!

Wow.... Hm.... Need to hire you as a gardner... Just keep on staring at the first plant.....
Soon I will grow....

I'm not for hire, but always happy to help! :ganjamon:

I keep staring at her, too! She really is beautiful and, thanks to the new tent, is the biggest plant I've grown to date. I keep trying to estimate how much yield I'll get off of her and, I'm guessing, a minimum of 6-7 oz. and possibly as much as 9 or more oz., depending on how big all those colas get, and assuming of course I can bring her to finish. (where's the "knock on wood" icon when you need it?).

I can't wait to see you back up & growing soon! :cheer:

That flower tent is packed! The BWOG sure did stretch eh> It will be interesting seeing her grown larger.

Yes, yes, and yes!

I'm a big believer in filling up that horizontal space, if possible, with as even a canopy as possible. I think it's due to years of training & habit using LED's in a 5' tent, running the SOG, etc. To be honest, I'm a little "afraid" to run that BW with a full veg based on how she stretched this round.

The two Tuts and the Fruit Punch all stretched maybe something like 70%, or so. The White Widow probably only stretched maybe 30% or so. That BW has stretched something like 250%!

If she did that with a full veg, I'd be raising all the lights just for her and, again, I like those even canopies!

That being said, there are two possibilities:

1) I can run the BW's two (or four) at-a-time under the same light. Since I have two lights, as long as the two under the same light have roughly the same stretch, it won't effect the other two under the other light.

2) It's also very possible that she will not stretch that much with a full veg. For example, when you start a seed or clone under 12/12, their natural reaction is to rapidly shoot straight up in essentially a single cola as they "race" to reach maturity. I'm thinking, the same thing may have happened here. The BW clone was only a few weeks rooted when she got put in and had just had a UBT. So, maybe she was young enough that she experienced that same effect and the stretch won't be as drastic with a full veg? :hmmmm:

We'll surely try her again, but while I was considering putting in another BW to "mix it up" on the next round (so I don't have all GSC crosses!), I'm now thinking I'll do either a Fruit Punch (I'm liking the way the FP is turning out!) or possibly a second Forbidos (which would still leave me all GSC crosses! ) and wait until I have room for two BW's.

Of course, there is a 3rd possibility that just occurred to me, and that's the possibility that I don't like the way she turns out, at all, and decide NOT to grow her again; but I don't think that's gonna be the case!

You have a grat looking garden there MrK - stacking @ 3 weeks in flower. That's pretty impressive. Love that BW. Love it when I get 2.5 - 3X stretch. Bigger plants bigger yields.

That being said, my understand is that both the IHG Dolato & Forbidos are crosses of their Dosidos which, you guessed it, is a GSC cross!

Hey there Krip looking like a jungle in there buddy! Good job. Sounds like you're diggin soil again. Hard to beat specially in the produce isles.

I think you're going to be pleasantly surprised with the IHG gear you're running now.

You will have bag appeal in spades terpines and the effect is VERY good.

Hey Krip - I see you feed your dog home made. I have 2 50# Shar-Pei we feed all home made. One of our girls likes raw diet but the other "prefers" cooked. So I make the sorta cooked rare when I can. It does make me take up freezer and fridge space much like having kids did.

Music studio.... you play or listen or play and listen or puff play and listen....
I made a music studio them made all my own gear to go in cept a turn table. Yes I have 1 an a HUGE ass record collection. Some people like me, collect records AND seeds!

Everything I've ran from IHG, IF I wanted some for myself I had to hide it from my friends. It's all been 5A's top shelf. With the style you're growing.... what ya calling it scroggy SOG?? Your yields should be pretty decent. Time will tell and its going to be a fun ride getting there.

Everything I've ran from IHG went from green to black or silver black and nothing but nugs. Trim was actually fun. Hard to believe but true.

Thank you, Brother! I am pretty happy with this grow, so far! :thanks:

I really don't mind stretch as long as I'm prepared and planning for it. It's when I plan for a 100% stretch and get a 300% stretch that I have a problem with!

Actually, this is my first real grow in soil - I made the switch to Doc's kit and it doesn't look like I'll be going back to hydro anytime soon!

I really only grow for personal use and to make med's for my Dad. While I do share with friends (most of whom have NO idea I grow!), I don't sell anything so I'm much more concerned with quality than bag appeal (i.e. purples don't impress me but great flavor with 30% THC does! ;) ).

That being said, I've never seen anything bad come out of IHG and am very anxious to run their genetics. I've heard great things about the Forbidos for pain relief and really hoping it will help my dad.

His Parkinson's tremors are under control with the RSO cap's I make him but he has a post-shingles condition that causes severe pain and the med's barely touch it. This type of pain is not muscle or joint pain, or I'm sure between the RSO caps, vaping, a topical cream I made, and some high-grade CBD oil I had him on, he would have found relief by now, but he hasn't, and it's very debilitating. :(

You used to put your kids in the fridge???
(sorry - I couldn't resist!)...
That's great that you make you dogs their food! :welldone:
I can pretty much predict they'll live longer-than-average lives for their breeds! My last two died of cancer and the last one was only four years old, was quite unexpected, and hit me hard. I don't blame the food he was on for causing the type of cancer he had but I do attribute his food (which was a top-of-the-line pet-store-only brand!) to his lack of ability to heal himself before it became a problem. Just make sure to add a good calcium supplement to your home-made dog food! ;)

I play keyboards & guitar and, while I haven't done it in quite a while, was also a songwriter, so basically have a home MIDI recording studio with full-size weighted keyboard, mixing board, amps, speakers, three guitars, and NO MORE ROOM!!!

Hmmmm:hmmmm: I haven't really named it, but I guess I'll call it "PseudoSCROG" or "PSCROG" for short! It's not really a SCROG screen since the netting is about 4x the size you'd want for a SCROG. It's really intended as trellis netting and was originally placed there just to support what will hopefully be some heavy colas. Once it was in place, I did make use of it for training. In fact, three of the four Blackwater colas are actually tied down to the netting with twist-ties. ;)

Now I see why I like you so much MrK.....
We share the artistic soul!!!!!
I start flying.. East?! (maaaan I am blonde.. But I think I am correct:rofl::laugh:)..... Following the sound of MrK's (hopefully) acoustic guitar..... Clearing my voice......
MrK. hears my voice... and brings out a shotgun.... used to hunt birds..... No no
Bird season is over........ HELP!!!

Assuming you're in Europe, I'm guessing you'd need to fly West to get to the USA. Just remember, birds fly South for the winter! ;)

PIC UPDATE - Day 23 of 12/12

I'll just let the pics do the talking tonight:

Their last drench was a GE and they just had plain H2O today. In a few days, I'll give them a heavy TP drench, and by next weekend, or so, they should be ready for the CAT drenches. :slide:

Happy Harvests!
